Chapter 282 - [Bonus ]A Box
Lu Xun was on his way to Song Xing Xing's room when he suddenly felt a chill down his spine. His body froze and he instinctively looked around. It was only after he was assured that there was no one around that he finally let his guard down.
After knocking on her door twice, Song Xing Xing appeared in front of him with a big smile on her face.
"Sorry. Mom and dad called just now," Song Xing Xing said. Her lips curled into a shy smile. "I told them about us."
"They already know?" Lu Xun suddenly recalled the chill he was experiencing a while ago.
It couldn't be that his father-in-law was planning to feed him to the fish, right?
Lu Xun thought about his last meeting with Song Chen and how he had gotten drunk afterward. Although Song Chen is considered a very amiable person to others, Lu Xun always thought that his father-in-law is a scary person.
"Mhm..." Song Xing Xing nodded. "Mom said, we should head over to Y City when you're free. She was happy for us but my dad... I think he was too shocked to say anything."
Lu Xun could probably guess what was going on through Song Chen's mind. "I'll tell Bei Yuan to clear my schedule."
Song Xing Xing laughed. "It's fine. We're not in a hurry." She grabbed her bag and the couple headed to the dining area nearby the lake.
When they arrived, Song Wei was seen sitting at a table with Long Fei accompanying him.
Noticing the couple's arrival, Song Wei suddenly recalled a very important thing. He had wanted to find his sister after he woke up but later, Long Fei had distracted him.
"Sister, you're here," Song Wei said. "I went to find you but you were not in your room."
Song Xing Xing recalled the lie that Long Fei had come up earlier and coughed. "I went out for a walk and talked to mom and dad."
Song Wei naturally did not suspect anything wrong with his sister. He walked over to his sister and pulled her into a hug. "Sister, happy birthday."
"Thank you." Song Xing Xing pulled away and stretched her hand. "What about my present?"
Song Wei did not notice the faint glint on his sister's finger. He fished out something from his pocket and placed a rectangular box in her hand. "I'm still a student. I can't afford to spend so much money for you."
Song Xing Xing rolled her eyes. She knew well that Song Wei had a side business that he had started with his friends not too long ago. The last time she had inquired about Song Wei's business through Song Yi, her cousin had said that Song Wei's business was quite profitable.
She peeked into the box and saw a pretty bracelet with starry charms. Her eyes glittered. Song Xing Xing quickly fell for this pretty bracelet.
At the same time, Long Fei walked over to the couple. He exchanged a loo with Lu Xun and raised a brow. Then, he turned to Song Xing Xing and watched as she took out the bracelet from the box.
Long Fei let out a cough, attracting their attention. A faint smile curled on his lips as he watched Song Xing Xing lift her head to meet his gaze.
"Miss Song, happy birthday. I guess I should start to address you as sister-in-law from now on."
It was then that Song Xing Xing noticed that Long Fei has been looking at the ring on her finger. She exchanged a glance with Lu Xun and smiled sheepishly. "Mr. Long, thank you."
"Just call me Long Fei. Lu Xun is like a brother to me. Since we are family, there's no need to be too polite."
Song Wei watched this exchange with a puzzled look on his face. He could not understand what was going on. He nudged at his sister's arm and finally noticed the glittering item on his sister's finger.
Song Xing Xing noticed her brother's gaze and raised her hand to show off her ring.
Song Wei's throat felt a little dry as he listened to his sister breaking the news about Lu Xun's proposal. His gaze darted between his sister and Lu Xun. Then, he quickly compose himself and flashed a smile. "Congratulations."
It hasn't been long ago since his sister started to go out with Lu Xun.
He had proposed and she had agreed?
Song Wei was wondering if his sister was making a hasty decision. However, when he saw the bright smile on his sister's face, Song Wei did not have the heart to say anything.
His gaze shifted to Lu Xun.
Song Wei was making a silent promise that he would continue to keep his eyes on Lu Xun. He did not care whether Lu Xun had powerful friends or not. If this guy dared to do something that would disappoint his sister, Song Wei promised that he would beat him up.
...
After having their breakfast, the three of them followed Long Fei to take a boat. Tomorrow, the three of them would return to Capital City. This was their last chance to go sightseeing.
Last time, Long Fei had taken them to walk around the town. This time, they went along the lake to look at the surrounding nature.
D Town was truly a beautiful place. The three of them watched the tall mountains and explored the small cave. In a distance away, they could see various fruit trees that the locals had planted in their orchards.
When it was time for lunch, Long Fei drove over to the town and the group ate together.
As Long Fei needed to stop by a few shops, they decided to go on their separate ways and meet again in half an hour.
Song Xing Xing held hands with Lu Xun as they walked along the lake to kill time.
As they walked past a convenience store, Lu Xun suddenly stopped. "I'm going in to buy something to drink. Do you want anything?"
Song Xing Xing thought for a moment and shook her head.
His lips curled into a faint smile. "Then, wait for me here." Lu Xun went into the shop and grabbed some snacks as well as bottled drinks.
His movement halted as he saw the items on the shelf. Lu Xun took a few steps back and stared at the box before he quickly looked away.
He suddenly recalled the tormenting feelings he had to bear when he slept right next to Song Xing Xing. Lu Xun began to hesitate whether he should grab this thing or not.
After pondering for a while, he finally reached for a box and threw it on the counter.
The bell rang, indicating that someone was walking in. Lu Xun looked up and met with Long Fei's gaze.
Long Fei was about to say something when his gaze accidentally shifted towards the item that his friend had placed on the counter.
"Shut up."
Long Fei chuckled and shrugged.. "I did not say anything."
