You're My Only Star

Lu Xun came to pick up his girlfriend exactly after an hour.

Song Xing Xing opened her door and looked at the handsome man who was standing in front of her. Her boyfriend was dressed in a dark blue shirt and black pants. She had seen him dressing up like this quite a few times. But, seeing him this night gave her a different feeling.

Song Xing Xing could not help but think that Lu Xun looked extremely dashing.

However, no matter how much she looked, Song Xing Xing could not figure out what was different about him.

"Let's go. The others should be waiting for us."

Lowering her gaze, Song Xing Xing saw his stretched hand and gently put her hand into his. Lu Xun tightened his grip on her hand and pulled her forward to peck at her forehead.

After a while, he pulled away and stared at her for a few seconds longer. "Song Xing Xing."

"En."

"You look beautiful."

"Thank you. You look handsome as well." This was not the first time that Lu Xun had given her such compliment but hearing these words tonight made her cheek turn pink.

Fortunately, it was at nighttime and no one would able to see the look on her face.

Song Xing Xing lowered her gaze to look at the beige summer dress with a pink floral pattern on her body. She had actually brought along this dress thinking that she was going to wear it while walking along the beach.

"You like it?" Song Xing Xing was referring to the dress.

With his free hand, Lu Xun touched her cheek softly. "Un. I like it." He was, of course, referring to the person who was wearing the dress.

Her smile widened, thinking that he had liked the dress she wore.

Holding hands, the two of them walked over to the barbecue spot together.

When they arrived, both Song Wei and Long Fei had arrived and the two men were inspecting the barbecued food. The smell of smokes filled the area and their stomach started to grumble.

Seeing that the couple had arrived, Long Fei waved his hand and invited everyone to eat their food beside the lake.

Other than the barbecued items, the chef had also prepared some other accompaniment dishes and desserts.

Song Xing Xing took a bite of the fish that Long Fei had caught earlier and found that the taste was very fresh and the fish was meatier.

The food was good and the scenery was very relaxing. From where they sat, Song Xing Xing could see the glint of light from the houses around the lake.

Song Xing Xing focused on the food she was eating while listening to Song Wei and Long Fei's conversation about the current politics in the country. The men were drinking some strong liquor as they chatted.

Just then, someone slid a plate of prawns in front of her. Song Xing Xing looked up and smiled happily at her boyfriend. She took a bite at the prawn and heaved in satisfaction.

She nudged at Lu Xun and looked at her brother who was offering Long Fei another glass of drink.

"Will they be alright drinking too much?"

Song Xing Xing knew that her brother had a high alcohol tolerance and did not worry about him. It was their host that she was worried about.

"It's fine." Lu Xun smiled. "Long Fei can drink a lot. I've never seen him drunk even once. Don't worry about them. There are a lot of people in this residence. They will help if something happened."

Song Xing Xing was relieved and continued to eat. Meanwhile, Lu Xun kept piling her plate with more food. It made her wonder if her boyfriend was trying to fatten her up so that she won't be able to run away.

By the time Song Xing Xing had cleared the dessert in front of her, Song Xing Xing realized that there was something wrong with her brother.

His face flushed and it seemed as if he was struggling to keep his eyes open.

It has been a long time since Song Xing Xing had seen him drunk and she could not help but to shoot some videos for evidence. Seeing that he was about to reach for another glass, Song Xing Xing quickly snatched it away from him. "Song Wei, you have enough."

Song Wei watched his sister's blurry face and flashed a silly smile on his face. "Sister, when did you have a twin?"

"You're drunk."

"No. No. I can still drink."

Song Xing Xing watched as her brother tried to reach the glass before he slumped on the table. A helpless look appeared on her face. "Song Wei?"

"Miss Song, don't worry. I'll look after him and send him back to his room."

Turning to that voice, Song Xing Xing watched a sober Long Fei walking over. Looking at him made her feel as if he was not accompanying her brother to drink.

Seeing that Long Fei had helped Song Wei to stand up, Song Xing Xing had no other choice but to let him help. "Mister Long, thank you for your help."

The man nodded. "This is what I should do as the host."

Song Xing Xing watched as they left. Worried about her brother, she decided to go with them. However, a hand gripped her wrist, preventing her from leaving.

"Don't worry about him. Long Fei and the others will look after your brother," Lu Xun said. He flashed her a smile and glanced at his wristwatch. His heart skipped a beat, knowing that it was almost time for them to leave. "Come with me. There's something that I wanted to show you."

Thinking that her brother should be alright with someone looking after him, Song Xing Xing decided to leave with Lu Xun instead.

Holding hands, the two of them continued to walk along the lake.

As they get farther from the residence, the atmosphere around them turned darker as well. They could only walk with the help of the bright moon.

"Where are we going?" Song Xing Xing could not help but worry.

On her left were tall trees and on her right were the lake. The dark surroundings made her heartbeat accelerate.

Lu Xun halted. He grabbed both her hands and spoke, "Song Xing Xing."

"En?" She lifted her head and was relieved that she could see his face clearly.

"Trust me?"

Her lips pursed into a thin line.

A new day will begin in a few minutes. Thinking that her boyfriend had prepared a surprise for her birthday, Song Xing Xing finally nodded.

A breath of relief escaped him. Lu Xun covered her eyes with both hands and led her forward. "Close your eyes. I have a surprise for you."

Song Xing Xing laughed, wondering what it could be. Now that she could not see anything, her hearing became very sensitive. At this time, she could hear the sound of the night insects, the sound of the water, and Lu Xun's breathing. Song Xing Xing thought that she could hear the sound of the heart beating. However, she was unsure if it was her heart or Lu Xun's.

After walking for a while, the two of them finally stop.

"Are you ready?"

Song Xing Xing nodded again and Lu Xun slowly removed his hand from her eyes. She opened her eyes slowly and gasped at the scene in front of her.

The faint glows slowly moved around her. Song Xing Xing stretched her hand and watched as a firefly touched her finger. Her gaze shifted again towards the field of fireflies. It was the first time a large number of fireflies and she was amazed.

"Do you like it?"

She turned around and looked at her boyfriend. "Un." She walked towards the glow and watched as the fireflies fly away.

"Song Xing Xing, happy birthday."
