You're My Only Star

Song Chen kept wanting to speak to Lu Xun but with his wife guarding that boy at the side, it was a little difficult for them to have a private chat.

In the evening, the four of them took a car and headed towards the main house. To make a good impression, Lu Xun volunteered to be the driver.

Song Chen watched as his wife passed Lu Xun the car key and swiftly slid into the side passenger's seat. He was not planning to watch this young man and his daughter together.

Song Chen glanced at the person who was seated in the driver's seat and wondered just what it is about Lu Xun that made his wife and daughter like him that much.

That guy only had good look and was good at sweet-talking.

Other than that, there was no other good thing about Lu Xun.

Song Chen snorted unhappily.

The vehicle parked in front of the main house and the four of them walked into the house.

Song Xing Xing's grandmother, Old Madam Yan greeted everyone amiably. Hearing that her granddaughter had brought along her boyfriend to see, Old Madam Yan was extremely excited. From the moment she laid her eyes on Lu Xun, she has been very enthusiastic asking him all sorts of questions.

Seeing that the young man had patiently and politely answered her every question, Old Madam Yan become very satisfied with him.

Song Chen watched these scenes quietly. His dissatisfaction with Lu Xun heightened to another level. Even though Lu Xun could win everyone else, it would not be easy for him to win his. Song Chen was determined to make things difficult for Lu Xun.

His daughter, Song Xing Xing is his cotton-padded jacket. From the moment she was born, Song Chen has been looking after his daughter with all his heart. He doted on her so much and was not willing to let others hurt her.

Now that someone was wanting to steal his girl away, Song Chen was not too happy.

As Song Xing Xing's grandfather, Song Shen Xi walked into the room everyone stood up and greeted the old man.

Song Shen Xi turned to look at Lu Xun and gave him a look over. Previously, he had met Lu Xun during his birthday banquet and had a good impression of this young man.

Seeing that her grandfather did not say a word, Song Xing Xing walked over and spoke, "Grandfather, let me introduce you. This is my boyfriend, Lu Xun."

"Mmm…" Song Shen Xi nodded. "I've met him before." He looked at his granddaughter and smiled. "Did you bring him here to let me look at him?"

Song Xing Xing laughed. "Grandfather, what do you think about him?"

His girlfriend's question made Lu Xun grow agitated. He already knew that it would be hard for him to convince Song Xing Xing's father to trust him. If her grandfather made it difficult for him as well... Lu Xun did not know what he should do.

Song Shen Xi gave Lu Xun another look over. After a while, he nodded. "Mmm... Not bad. He's good-looking."

Song Xing Xing smiled sheepishly.

Meanwhile, Song Chen was wondering if he should bring his father to get new glasses. It seemed that his eyesight was not as good as it was before.

Hearing the old man's teasing tone, Lu Xun tensed body started to relax a little bit. Previously, he was worried about how the old man was going to react once he found out that he was dating Xing Xing.  Fortunately, her grandfather was not as hard-hearted as her father.

"Then..." Song Shen Xi looked at his granddaughter again. "When do you plan to get married?"

Song Xing Xing sucked in a deep breath. Her face turned scarlet. "Grandfather. It's a little too early to talk about that, right?"

"Is it?" Song Shen Xi laughed as he continued to tease his granddaughter.

Song Chen stared at his father in disbelief. At this time, he was convinced that everyone else was not in their right mind.

His daughter is still young. How can his father mention marriage casually?

"Alright. You don't need to be so tense," Song Shen Xi spoke to Lu Xun. "This is only a dinner between family members. You can be at ease."

Lu Xun nodded as he let out a staggering breath. He felt that having a business meal with Song Shen Xi would be more relaxing as compared to having a casual meal like this.

Everything about Song Xing Xing would make him anxious.

He liked her very much and wanted to give her the best. Naturally, he wanted her family members to give their blessings to their relationship as well.

Moreover... after his talk with his girlfriend in the afternoon, Lu Xun knew that he will have to work hard. If he wanted to bring Song Xing Xing home as his wife, he will need to convince her family members.

"Come on, let's sit down and eat. The food won't taste very good when it turns cold," Song Shen Xi said.

Once the old man was seated, everyone began to eat their food happily.

Lu Xun was their guest and Song Shen Xi's attention was naturally on him. Knowing about Lu Xun's business in Capital City, his influence as well as the friends he hang around with, Song Shen Xi became very friendly.

Anyway, his eldest son was moving his political career to Capital City. It would be good for him to have another person to look over for him.

Song Shen Xi noticed that his youngest son, Song Chen's gaze but he continued to ignore him. However, just after dinner, Song Shen Xi dragged his son over to his study. 

"What's wrong with your expression? Lu Xun is our guest. Why do you look so unhappy?" Song Shen Xi spoke. "Song Chen, don't think that I don't know what you are thinking about. I already warned everyone that we should not meddle in the children's relationship. Have you forgotten?"

"Father, I haven't forgotten. However, I still did not think that Lu Xun is suitable for my daughter."

"Why?"

Song Chen pursed his lips into a thin line.

"I think that boy is quite suitable. He had a good personality and good morale. What problem do you have with him? Your daughter seemed to like him as well," Song Shen Xi spoke. "If you really love your daughter you should think about her as well. Don't delay her happiness. Don't let her relationship with her turn sour because of your thinking and arrangements."

Once he had said everything necessary, Song Shen Xi left to find Lu Xun to discuss with him about business.

Song Chen looked at his family members and felt betrayed.

He really could not understand why did everyone seem to like Lu Xun.

If Lu Xun was not dating his daughter, perhaps Song Chen would like him. However, that man chose to date the daughter that he cherished. 

Why do they think that he was in the wrong? He only wanted to protect her daughter's happiness. Was that wrong?
