Chapter 172
172 Chapter 171: Victory or defeat?
Damon’s body drifted across the air as his eyes released fierce bright light. His voice boomed as the blood which filled the platform was visibly boiling. The smell of blood covered the entire battlefield as a bright red magic circle large enough to cover the entire platform appeared.
“Blood magic: Blood control!” Damon’s voice was cold but if someone listened to it deeply they would notice it was strained as well.
The boiling blood which filled the platform began boiling even faster. Red steam diffused from it while the blood itself slowly turned black.
“There is no one I cannot kill” Damon said coldly as he flicked his fingers and all the blood on the platform quickly surged back into the body of the massive red dragon!
“You!” Fei growled but he felt his body restrained as the blood surged in. He felt like he had lost control over his body, leaving him helpless and exposed.
“This is the end” Damon muttered weakly a glowing red chain added to the green and black chains in his hand used to pin down the enemy.
Meanwhile, the silver dragon struggled fiercely but with the massive golden eagle standing on its back with its talons pinning the massive Dragon’s skull to the ground, no matter how much it struggled it couldn’t escape!
“Ancestor!” it cried out as it gazed at the red dragon with worry in its eyes.
Seeing the formation with the single blood-red eye at the chest of the red dragon it knew something was wrong. I could feel the power of the red dragon dropping fast!
.....
“ENOUGH OF THIS!” a voice boomed as the entire realm began trembling and distorting violently as if the realm was about to crumble.
The full rage of the ancestral dragon was shown in the destabilized realm but even then Damon wasn’t moved. In fact, he didn’t react to it and behaved like nothing was happening.
This was not because he didn’t feel threatened by the ancient dragon. It was more like he knew it didn’t have the guts to decimate its domain just to kill them all. A person’s anomaly is linked to their soul. That’s why if a person’s anomaly is damaged the user is hurt as well. Destroying it entirely would assure the death of Damon and everyone here but the ancestral dragon won’t leave unscathed. Whatever chance it had at breaking free from the restraints of this world will be rendered useless. Its soul will be so damaged it can only live as a cripple for the rest of its life
Knowing how selfish the dragons are, he knew such a powerful beast won’t be willing to make such a sacrifice just for the sake of weaker subordinates.
“Vanish.” Damon said with frosty eyes as a fierce black decay aura began pushing forward using the chains in Damon’s hands as a link to the red dragon.
Seeing this the red and silver dragon paled with fear. They both knew the outcome of this battle if Damon succeeded with this move. While they could protect their skin with aura they can’t do the same to their internal organs!
Boom!
Boom!
The two dragons quickly mustered all the power they could.
Blegh!
Gerald shivered as he spat out more blood and fell to his knees. His eyes turned pale with fear as he looked ahead and frowned when he saw the silver dragon gathering power around its neck for its dragon roar ability!
“No!” Gerald gasped as he tried to move but his body was too weak to respond. He could only watch as the silver dragon raised its massive head and released a powerful silver beam, racing toward Damon.
Meanwhile, the red dragon did the same, releasing its own attack aimed at Damon. If both of them could kill him now, they can both survive this encounter!
Heavenly Dragon Roar!!!!
A silver beam of energy raced towards Damon from behind while a reddish beam of energy raced towards Damon from the front.
Seeing this Damon showed no emotions as he attempted to jump away but then his feet felt planted to the ground. It felt like invisible hands held onto his legs, giving him no chance of escape.
Hmph!
Damon’s eyes turned cold as his aura was about to explode from his body but then Damon felt like invisible chains binding his body while sealing his aura. His body and aura were restrained.
...
Damon finally frowned as his eyes shifted to the two attacks coming from both sides.
Shiiiii!
A strange sound filled the air as countless black specks of dust surged around him forming a metal dome.
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
Bone pillars shot out of the ground, rising high to form a bone pyramid.
Boom!
The two combined attacks instantly obliterated the bone pyramid and dealt serious damage to the iron shield. Looking at it, everyone was stunned as they watched the iron Dome shatter as well, revealing Damon who wore a deep frown on his face!
Hmph!
Damon snorted disdainfully as he raised both arms and caught the beams with his bare hands!
Boom!
A loud explosion erupted and a large body of dust rose above the air.
Bang!
Damon felt something pierce his soul causing him to fall to his knees and spit out a mouthful of blood. All the formations set up by him shattered almost in an instant. His hands had been destroyed completely, leaving behind a bloody mess.
Whoosh!
The dust cleared and Damon’s team emerged with Elsa Leaf wearing a strange armor made of vines and an emerald crystal visible on the chest plate as its core.
When they emerged they saw Damon in a terrible condition and frowned. The trio looked around and they saw the silver and red dragon hastily fleeing the scene and they sighed bitterly.
Gerald was in a bad condition but his condition was far better than that of Damon.
Damon!
Everyone rushed forward and surrounded Damon. They held on to him as more black blood flowed out of his wounds. His eyes had returned to normal and he looked extremely tired.
“Get me out of here fast....” Damon muttered as he allowed his body to fall into Elsa’s hands.
As soon as he said it, the three unconscious cosmic spirit hosts began showing signs of waking up. They began moving and groaning which made everyone frown. If these people awakened and they were still here then they will be killed as well.
Their gaze turned to Gerald who was looking at them with a conflicted look on his face. The golden phoenix stood behind him, gazing at Damon’s crew as if it was waiting for the order to attack.
After a while, Gerald sighed and his face became less tense. It seemed like he had made a decision.
“I am not as sentimental as my father or these people. I don’t judge people based on their previous lives and as far as I’m concerned you four have done nothing that makes you my enemy. Instead, I believe you have done this continent a favor. Take the death mage and leave. I’m afraid my colleagues don’t share the same thoughts as me” Gerald said with a bitter smile.
Damon who once wore an indifferent look on his face was stunned and looked at Gerald as if he had seen a ghost. This was an unexpected move from the son of his greatest foe.
After a few seconds of silence, Damon simply nodded and said nothing else. With Elsa’s help, he was dragged off the ground, and slowly but steadily they walked down the platform leaving everyone behind.
As soon as they left, Kaido yanked his eyes open with a stern look on his face. He casually sat up and turned his attention to Gerald, alongside Diana and Crystal. If Damon and the rest were still here and saw this, they would be stunned to realize that these people have been conscious all this while but acted like they were knocked out.
“Do you plan to explain yourself? This was the perfect opportunity to have the death mage die at the hands of the dragons, yet you helped. Why?” Kaido asked with a stern look. While it sounded like he was asking for Gerald’s reasons, he was actually demanding if one was to judge based on his tone.
Gerald’s eyes remained calm even after seeing them wake up abruptly. It felt like he always knew they have been pretending for a long while now.
“The death mage or the dragon, who do you think is a bigger threat?” Gerald asked.
“The.....” Crystal wanted to respond immediately but she was cut off by Gerald.
“I suggest you take your time to think deeply before giving me an answer. You all saw what happened here today. How the death mage would have been killed by them over and over again. Now considering this, imagine an army of dragons and other races living outside the continent. Do you think you and I alone are more than enough to handle these people?” Gerald added with a look of contempt in his eyes. It felt like he was talking to lesser beings and not people.
