Chapter 238 - A Good And Worthy Man
-UNEDITED-
At Derhan Palace, as Cain walked with Gavin towards the King's private wing, he could not help but die of curiosity if the Harry of Cha Group was the same man Kimmy mentioned.
"Hey, are you alright? Is there something wrong?" Gavin asked when he noticed that Cain's focus was still on the screen of his mobile phone since they left the counseling room.
"Oh yeah, just some random patient I'm checking on," Cain lied, followed by a sigh before he locked his mobile phone and put it in his pocket. He tried to clear his head and decided to ponder Harry's matter later after completing his work with the royal family.
He and Gavin proceeded in the living area of the King's private wing. The King was having some tea with Brione while engaged in a funny conversation since he laughed hard when they arrived.
"Hmm, I can see that you finally found a laughing pill, Your Majesty. It's good to see you cheerful like this," Cain commented with a pleasing smile. He was glad to see the King smiling and laughing. It had been a while since he laughed like that.. Cain also noticed the glow in him. It was good that Gavin would take over his duty so the King could finally rest more at his age.
"Oh yeah. I'm grateful for my daughter-in-law, who keeps bringing joy here in the Palace. I feel more at ease and lighthearted that I forgot all my worries when I'm talking with her," Lucas commented.
Brione's face reddened, being the center of the topic while she was in front of them. Gavin chuckled as he sat beside Brione, pulled his wife into a loving embrace, and kissed her head.
"I seconded to that father. We are both lucky!" Gavin added and laughed more when Brione elbowed him and signaling him to stop with her stare.
Lucas laughed as well while Cain opened his bag to get his things to check on the King while he asked him, "how are you feeling now, Your Majesty? Any chest pain like before?"
"Ah, I feel good, Cain. The medicines are helping, plus being with these two who are helping me destress," Lucas commented, and Cain nodded.
Lucas frowned and, out of nowhere, asked, "how about you, Cain? Any plans on settling down?"
Cain was surprised that the King asked him that since it had been a while since the King nagged him about his love life.
"Ah, it will come if it wanted to come my way, Your Majesty. I'm not in a hurry," Cain answered, but he started questioning himself inwardly if he was not in a hurry when just a while ago he was so anxious.
Lucas shook his head and mumbled, "My poor friend Damiel must be frustrated still. I should visit him one of these days and ask him how frustrated he was. The last time I visited him, he kept asking me if I heard any news in the Palace like you getting involved with anyone here since he heard nothing from the hospital."
Brione giggled, hearing how her father-in-law was teasing Cain.
"By the way, I noticed you and Kimmy are always together. Are you two finally knowing each other?" Lucas asked more.
"It's about work, Your Majesty. Kimmy is only working for me as my assistant."
Lucas nodded, but a suspicious look was too evident on his face. He could not help as he naively said next.
"Hmm, I don't understand, Kimmy. Before, she worked as a bodyguard and now as an assistant. I wonder what line of work next she will get herself into. L am sure Leila will prefer Kimmy to work on you as a wife instead…"
Cain choked on his saliva that he coughed several times hearing that comment from the King.
"I'm not aware that father loves to gossip too?" Brione whispered in Gavin's ear, hearing her father-in-law and Cain's conversation. She was trying her best not to laugh, seeing how Cain cut off his tongue against her father-in-law.
"Well, oldies do love to gossip about each other's sons and daughters. That's a natural thing. I'm sure if I am to talk to Cain's father, he will ask me the same thing, but I'm quick since I claimed a wife already!" Gavin proudly murmured in Brione's ear.
After Cain checked him, Lucas said, "it's almost dinner. Why not stay and have dinner with us?"
"Hmm, I need to go back home and check on my father. I'm unable to join him for dinner lately, so I plan on eating with him." Cain politely answered.
"Hmm, such a filial son. That's better. Spend more time with Daniel and tell him I will come to visit him more often now that I'm already a free bird!"
Brione stood up and interrupted, "Father, can I also come if I'm free?"
Lucas laughed and said, "Of course, dear. Let me brag how quick my son is in giving me a daughter-in-law, unlike his slow son here."
Cain's face reddened in embarrassment. Gavin chuckled as he stood up and said, "Father, I will walk Cain out."
Cain stood up as well when Gavin suddenly asked Brione, "By the way, Sweetheart, Cain asked me about some Harry from country D. I remember some Harry Cha or Chan? I'm not sure. Do you happen to know anyone with that name? Harry? Who knows, it could be that man Cain was looking for."
Gavin could sense that the 'Harry' name was bothering Cain for some reason, so he thought Brione might know someone with that name, and who knows, it could be the man Cain was looking for.
On the other hand, Cain gulped as his eyes went to Brione, waiting for her to answer.
"I do know Harry Cha from the Cha Family. But I am not close with him. That's the family Kimmy worked with before. Oh, not that family, to be exact, since it's Kenzie, but Kenzie married Daryl of Cha Family... I recalled talking about them with Kimmy before…."
Brione turned to Cain and asked, "It's related to Kimmy? If it is, then you're probably looking for Harry Cha since he was someone Kimmy got involved with."
Busted… Brione heavily busted him. Cain wanted the whole ground to eat him alive at that moment, especially when he saw the King's teasing and amused eyes directed towards him. Yet, there was no reason for him to hide it since there was nothing to hide. Only Kimmy wanted no one to know about what was going on between them but not him. Yet, he, too, was conscious merely of the possibility of Kimmy running away.
There was no escape since he could not think of an alibi either that involved Harry's name.
"Yeah," he answered, massaging his nape.
Gavin shook his head, looking like something was going on between Cain and Kimmy. He was not the only one having that thought, though, because King Lucas and Brione thought the same.
"Hmm, I guess correctly. No wonder you two are always together often. Leila and your father will be happy, so I'm hoping you two get along well. About Harry… I guess you have competition since you are bothered about him. Don't be Cain… You're such a good man, so I'm sure Kimmy will choose wisely this time," Lucas encouraged still though he was not aware of the whole thing going on but seeing Cain's expression told him that the man was serious.
"I think you are more handsome than him, Cain. Harry is handsome too, but for me, you're more appealing," Brione unconsciously blurted out.
"Sweetheart?!" Gavin murmured, looking at her in disbelief. He could not believe that his wife would compliment a man on his face!
Brione ignored her husband as she continued, "Well, I met Harry, and he is so… Hmm, how do I put it… He's the aloof type. Kenzie complained about him before that she and Daryl felt bad because Harry is married to work. He is someone who has no social life at all if it's not connected to the company. Something like that… He is adopted, but the Cha Family treated him well like their own. That was why he probably dedicated his life to the family."
"But I do feel there is something more to it. Kimmy mentioned before that she was drawn into bad guys turning good like Harry. Anyway, I'm not sure if this will help, but you see Kimmy chased after him while she was in country D. Yet Harry turned her down for some reason Kimmy was not disclosing. She…"
"Sweetheart, I think you feed him enough information. Let me walk Cain out already?" Gavin interrupted, and Brione nodded with an awkward smile. She bit her lip, realizing how she talked too much. But then Brione thought Cain deserved to know who he was dealing with. Besides, she felt biased towards Cain, who she believed was a good and worthy man enough for Kimmy.
