Chapter 328: Shards of Frozen Time
Chapter 328: Shards of Frozen Time
Leslie extended both his arms to the side and raised his head, looking at the skies. There were tears coming out of his eyes as large chunks of glass enveloped his body from his legs up to his torso.
Just before Leslie's head was covered with the glass, he closed his eyes and whispered, "Shards of Frozen Time."
There was a whiff of air that passed through Aquarius and Minos. They looked at each other, confused as to what just happened. In an instant, the two vanished from the air.
"He did it?!" Livor growled from the ground. He looked up and there was a sliver of fear in his eyes as he watched the boy being swallowed by the glass chunks.
"What is happening?" Jester, his opponent, asked. The clowns behind Jester were also bamboozled about what was going on.
"You foolish humans better hope that your representatives are capable of defeating Leslie," Livor chuckled. "His ability allows him to take three opponents in his dimension while he unleashes his true form here to battle you."
"What?" Jester tilted his head. He was riding his ball while talking to Livor, but the confusion made him pop his ball and land on the ground. "What true form?"
In a blink of an eye, several Adventurers from Aquarius's team flew up to the sky. They were all in a trance, not knowing what just happened.
"His actual form activates when he uses his powers for five minutes," Livor asked, looking at the people who were in the air. "And he just triggered it, so now we wait until either your friends die or they defeat him. Leslie will return to his human form if either of the two scenarios I mentioned happen."
"But until then"
Jester wasn't able to finish his sentence when one of the bodies wer mauled by a large humanoid creature. The beast had long legs and arms, much like Livor but it had dark green skin and had muscles instead of skin and bones.
"That is Leslie's true body," Livor smirked. "He earned the title Sloth because he escapes to his own little paradise. And in there, he is the ruler of everything."
"So, it's like a Realm Domination," Jester chuckled, seemingly delighted after hearing the information. "Now that's interesting."
Inside the dimension Livor and Jester were talking about was another battle that had been ensuing. Aquarius formed a spinning sphere that covered him, Minos, and a little girl from another guild.
The girl they were with was Christina.
Outside of the sphere was a storm of shattered glass. The specks of dust and glass was like a raging storm with winds as strong as giant beasts. If one of them would go out of the sphere, they would instantly vanish.
Meanwhile, Minos was staring at the kid who was with them. Christina was kneeling on the sphere's floor, shaking in fear. She could only look at the shards of glass outside, eyes bulging out of their sockets whenever she remembers what happens when the shards hit something.
"How was she even selected?" Minos crossed his arms. "You're not even the closest person to us while were battling Leslie."
"My magic selects the last three that dealt damage to me," Leslie said. "A drop from that girl's water magic reached me, making her the third person who dealt damage."
"Kid," Aquarius called out. He was raising his hand in front of him while maintaining the barrier that protects them. He accidentally let go of his trident that instantly vanished when the storm of glass hit it.
"You're one of Elliot's former students, right?" Aquarius asked. "Can you sustain this barrier for a moment?"
"N-No," Christina whispered. "I don't have as much strength as you. A barrier this size will be impossible for me."
Aquarius growled, "Everyone, duck and hug your legs!"
The sphere they were inside of shrunk as Aquarius waved his hand to command it. He looked at the kid once again and asked, "Can you maintain this?"
"This I can do," Christina replied. She shakily raised her hand and slowly took control of the barrier.
"I will let you fully control it, okay?" Aquarius looked at her in the eyes. "I know you can do this. You're just nervous. At the count of three, I'll retract my control and you replace me."
"Why are you even doing it?" Christina asked. "Why will you let go?"
"I cannot fight without a proper weapon," Aquarius replied. "And I cannot get a proper weapon when I'm controlling this barrier. Do you get my point?"
"Y-Yeah," Christina nodded while stuttering. "I think I can do that."
"Good!" Aquarius smiled in relief. This was a leap of faith for him, but he had no choice. "At the count of three, you'll spin this sphere, okay? Once this stops spinning, the shards will enter and we'll all die."
"I don't want that," Christina shrieked. "I'll spin it then."
"Good," Aquarius said with gritted teeth. It was obvious that he was having trouble controlling the sphere without a weapon. The attacks from Leslie was overpowering him since he wasn't in his full strength. "One, two, three!"
For a split second, the sphere stopped rotating. Aquarius saw Christina gasp before thrusting both her hands forward to control the sphere. The man was a moment away from taking the control back when Christina's palms glowed with a bright blue color.
The sphere exploded and formed a larger, much stronger one. The rotation of the sphere was also faster than the one Aquarius had.
Seeing the smalls shards enter the sphere, Minos was about to blast it off but the speed of the sphere sucked the shards and threw them out.
"What the hell?" Aquarius thought out loud with his jaws dropped to the ground. He shook his head and decided to gawk at the sphere later. What he needs to do now was to defeat Leslie.
"That sphere is pretty," the Sin of Sloth said from above. He was hovering over them while his shards of glass encircled the water sphere continuously. "It looks like a still marble from here even when it's actually spinning."
Leslie raised his fan and drew an X in the air. The X symbol was drawn with a bright blue light that spun and threw swords made of glass at the water sphere.
"It looks better, but is it stronger?" Leslie asked. The swords of glass hit the water sphere and was shattered upon impact. The remains of it joined the other glass in the storm around the sphere.
"Do not underestimate me!" Christina yelled. "I am one of Elliot's apprentices. And I promise to become stronger to avenge my mentor! I will kill you"
"Leslie, Sin of Sloth!" Aquarius yelled, raising his arm to stopping Christina from continuing. "I have a bargain."
The glass storm stopped and the shards were stranded in the air. Leslie quirked his brow up and tilted his head to the side, "What is this bargain?"
"You have to answer one question each time I lay a finger on you," Aquarius said with a smirk.
"I am the Sin of Sloth because I'm lazy," Leslie scoffed and continued his glass storm. This time, the glass were fiercer, making Christina push more strength into the integrity of her barrier.
"If I fail in three attempts, you can kill me," Aquarius said, making the glass storm stop once again.
"One attempt," Leslie rolled his eyes. He raised his fan and gathered the shards of glass in the strorm.
"Don't stop this barrier," Aquarius said. "I will go out and defeat him. Christina, slolwy put another coat of barrier inside this. I will give you thirty seconds to do so."
"What are you doing?" Christina grunted. She looked at Minos who seemed to have a rather calm face. "Minos, stop your best friend. He's going to commit a suicide."
"No, he's not," Minos chuckled. "Once I see that look in Aquarius's eyes, I know he has a plan in mind."
Christina could only growl but follow the instructions. She shook her head and opened a small hole for Aquarius to get out of. When the man was outside, she proceeded to take his order and form another barrier inside the large one.
It was difficult to do considering she was maintaining a barrier while creating a smaller one. Her mana reserve may be large, but she will still run out if this keeps up.
"I swear, I do not know what he's doing," Christina said. They watch Aquarius stare at Leslie while the latter did the same to him.
"One finger, one question," Aquarius said. "That's our deal, right?"
"Yes, indeed," Leslie smirked. "But what if we make it more interesting? If you lay even a single finger at me, I will release my magic and let you kill me."
"What will happen if I do?" Aquarius quirked his brow up. "If I manage to kill you, what does that gain me?"
"Apart from you'll have one less problem to deal with?" Leslie smirked. "You will gain the Twilight Bless."
Aquarius smirked and summoned large spheres of water behind him. "I knew the Twilight Bless was real."
