Chapter 203 Library 2
"This is crazy….."
Diana mumbled as we entered the library.
"It looks like a different world, right?"
Looking at the scenery that was before our eyes, I answered.
"Yeah, it is."
She said while slowly walking towards the spiral of books that was flying in the air.
Yes, they were flying in the air.
Now, as you may have already guessed, in this academy, using spatial magic is something very common, as we have seen it used frequently in the exam.
However, this does not only contain the exam.
Even though these books that were flying were just there to add some mystic appearance and atmosphere to the library, this still shows how widely spatial magic is used.
Well, the ceiling being something huge also has paid in this example.
To describe the scene in simple words, right now, we are in front of the buildings of shelves that are filled with books towering around the length of at least 10 meters.
On the ceiling, there is a canopy that is filled with large stained glass, casting vibrant colors and patterns across the floor.
The air is filled with the faint scent of the aged parchment, even though magic was used to maintain the books, showing how old they were.
Though it was transparent, one could still see the slight fluctuations of magic that were in the air above, showing the transparent floor that could be activated at any time.
Overall, the atmosphere is designed in such a way that it could only be done by someone that had the necessary knowledge about sci-fi movies since most of the ideas were inspired by them but also wanted to use magic as a base.
Which is something the developers of the game had and wanted to do.
That being said, do you remember the spirit of the training grounds that I once used while I was training at the Augustride Family mansion?
A simple idea that was inspired by the concept of Artificial Intelligence but adapted to magic.
Of course, such a thing also exists in the Library of the World's greatest academy.
"How can I help you, Student Callius, and Student Diana?"
As we were looking around in awe, a sound came right before us, filling our ears.
Turning my head to the source of the voice, I saw a young girl with a skin color of blue and eyes filled with green posterior chambers.
"I am Lumina. The assistance spirit of the library. You can ask me anything related to it."
"I am here to look for advanced magic books for fire magic."
I answered.
"I see. What type of magic do you wish to look for?"
"I want to look for Field Manipulation Typed Magic."
"Field Manipulation….. It seems you are looking for something advanced?"
"Yes."
"Do you prefer the book with your attribute, or do you wish to look for general theory?"
"General Theory. For the time being, I wish to improve my fundamentals."
"I see. Then, you are looking for something with basic concepts."
"Yes."
"Understood."
As the spirit got my answer, she naturally turned her attention to Diana.
"Student Diana? What do you wish to look for?"
And asked.
Just like that, after Diana also stated her preferred magical book, which was a book related to the history of spirits and fairies, Lumina disappeared from our sight.
Well, she literally disappeared.
"Brother, it looks like you are pretty familiar with Artificial Spirits."
Seeing me directing Lumina comfortably, Diana asked.
"You are partially right. I had seen quite a lot of spirits, though it was the first time I saw something this advanced."
Considering the Guild and the Dwarven City that I had been to quite a lot of time, it could be said I was familiar with it.
"I see."
However, since the concept of Artificial Spirits is not that widely known now, there are those that don't welcome such a thing when they see it for the first time.
"Student Diana, Callius. Your books are here."
In any case, before we could chat any longer, the spirit appeared again, giving the books we ordered to us.
"Thank you."
As I said that, I grabbed the book that was floating in front of me.
'Spatial Magic, I really want to learn it.'
I thought again, seeing the convention that resulted from it.
"If you want to borrow the books, please scan this section with your bracelets. Then, you can get the books outside of the library without worrying about anything."
After that, Lumina disappeared in front of our faces, and we were left alone again.
"Brother, will you take the book outside and study in your own room?"
"Yes. There are things that I want to try practically."
"I see….. Then, I will be in my room as well….. Though…"
"Though?"
"Though, it looks like you have a lot of secrets."
"Hmm?"
"Nothing, let's go."
After getting the book I wanted, we left the library and went to our own rooms(houses).
*******
The reason why I borrowed this book and did not study in the library was pretty simple.
Because I dislike people's presence around me while I am studying.
Having strong senses comes with a price, you know? It is not always a good thing.
For instance, there were times after I recently advanced ranks that I would wake up thanks to the little presence of a bug or a small monster that couldn't even hurt me.
Those things that I would normally ignore would be registered in my brain, which was also the case for humans since when it comes to them, you can never ignore any of them….
This is what I learned from being an adventurer.
In any case, after I reached my room, I opened the book that had the name:
- Fundamentals of Field Magic
and started studying it.
'Here we go again.'
While also grabbing my pen and my notebook.
'Now we can finally begin becoming a mage.'
I thought and spent the rest of my day studying until I deemed it enough while reaching the basement of my room where the training room and mana-gathering formation was located.
In the end, theory alone is not enough to become strong…..
