Volume 3.5 Chapter 39: I’ll Go There First

Cooking was one of his favorite things to do. Coins were second to happiness.

"I see," Tristan had nothing else to say about this. He could tell from Keith's gaze that he would go through with this no matter what. Carolyn questioned,

"Does that mean you will be working at the cart all the time?"

"Of course not. I'm thinking about working on my cart after school hours." He was a student first and then a businessman. Keith understood William and Sophia would be angry if he skipped every class.

"I'm going to take some time off to build the cart. Can I leave it to you to copy the notes?" Keith asked Gabriel.

"Don't worry about it. I'll copy the notes down," Gabriel smiled.

Keith nodded,

"Watch your hands," Keith noticed Carolyn's hand going towards his lunch again.

"I'm hungry," Carolyn stared at his lunch. Keith sighed as he started to feed the child.

"At some point, you got to live by yourself,"

"No way! You're cooking is the best! I can't live without it!" The thought alone was scary. A day without his cooking? There was no way she could handle it.

"..." Keith was speechless.

...

The first thing I need to do is to ask Dalen for the materials. Keith knew he needed Dalen's assistance with the cart. He needed a custom grill top if he wanted to make it work.

"Hmm?" When Keith entered the workshop, he noticed something off. There were few workers here. That was odd. Usually, there would be a couple more workers at the front to talk to him.

And the usual, Skar, wasn't here as well.

"Is Dalen in his office?" Keith questioned a dwarf.

"He's in the office, Kid," The dwarf grumbled. But that was the only thing he did as he looked down.

Strange. There would be usually more grumbling. Keith walked up and knocked on the door,

"Dalen, it's me,"

"Come in, Keith." When Keith entered,

"Keith, what brings you here," Dalen smiled.

"You see, I want to ask for some custom equipment. But I doubt I can't do that right now,"

"What do you mean?"

"What's with the tension?" Keith noticed there was something off.

Dalen chuckled, "Nothing/ Some of my men haven't returned,"

"Hmm? You mean Skar and the others?"

"Mmhmm,"

"Aren't they strong?"

"They are. But there's some problem from what I heard," Dalen sighed.

"I see," Before Keith could say anything,

"Boss! We have trouble!" A dwarf entered the office.

"Huh?" Dalen's and Keith's expressions changed when they heard that.

"Skar's group is being attacked by a group of golems! They're requesting backup!"

"What?!" Dalen slammed his hand onto the table. But then he cursed,

"Dammit! Even if we hire adventurers, it would take too long," The process would take too long. Before he could think about what to do,

"Dalen, I'll go first,"

"What?" Dalen looked at Keith and denied it, "No! There's no need for you to go out there." He was his brother's friend. This was his workshop's problem. He couldn't have him do this.

"Relax, I'll be fine. And besides, what are friends for if you can't rely on them." Dalen had helped him out. How could he not help him out in times like this?

"...Thank you," Dalen accepted. There was no way he could hold back. His priority was his workers.

"Tell me the location,"

"They're at the stone dungeon."

"I see," A dungeon.

"It should take you an hour to get there," That was how long it took them to get there.

"I should start running," Keith cracked his knuckles. Before he started,

"Do you have anything that has their scent?"

"Bring him one of their hammers," Dalen turned to the dwarf. The dwarf nodded, running out of the office. Keith walked outside.

"Can you hold onto these?" Keith handed the gravity bracelets to Dalen.

"Gravity bracelets," Dalen knew what they were.

"Here's the hammer!" The dwarf brought back a hammer. Keith nodded and summoned Mir,

"Mir, can you track them?"

"PO!" Mir quickly sniffed the hammer,

"Po!Po!" Mir started to signal the direction. Keith nodded, "I'm off." Like that, he dashed. It was a blinding speed that caught Dalen and the dwarfs by surprise!

"How fast is he?!"

Keith burst through the gates. He could hear the guards saying something. But the city was already out of sight.
