Volume 3 Chapter 14: Not To Be Trifled With

"These bandits tried to attack us on our journey here. These two heroes saved us from that predicament," The coachman explained to the guards.

Keith added, "We also ventured into their lair and brought back the captives they have," Keith stated as he pointed at the carriage with the captives.

"I see," The guards were shocked when they heard his words.

He sighed, "These bandits were causing so much trouble these past days." The number in their force wasn't something to scoff at. They would have to bring a number of soldiers to deal with them.

Keith turned to the guards, "Here is all the loot they had,"

Keith quickly summoned all the loot in his storage. The guards and the coachman were surprised by such a loot. There were a few items that were worth a couple of gold coins!

"I want you to hand all of this to the captives. Also, I want you guys to figure out where they live and send them back home," Everyone was shocked by his words. He just gave up the coins like that without a thought!

Anyone else would have taken it and left like that!

"Understood," The guard nodded. He couldn't say anything to him. The captives quickly bowed their heads,

"Thank you so much!"

"I can finally go home now!"

They were in tears as they had their freedom. Keith shook his head, "It's fine. It's what I should do. Go to the guard and tell them where you guys need to go,"

Keith didn't say anything else as he walked to the coachman. The coachman bowed, "Thank you for protecting us, Sir Gabriel, Sir Keith."

"It's fine. I'm going to go now," There was no point in staying there.

"Same," Like that, Keith and Gabriel walked away from the carriage.

Keith turned to Gabriel, "Sorry about not talking to you about it,"

"Hmm?"

"The loot. I should have split it 50-50." Keith stated. As he walked, he realized he made the decision without talking to Gabriel. Gabriel helped out a lot.

Gabriel chuckled, "You don't have to worry about it. I would have done the same thing."

"Thanks," Keith smiled. He questioned, "Gabriel, do you want to meet at the academy?"

"Sure! I would love to go with you,"

"Great! Let's meet up at the teleportation gate tomorrow,"

"Sure. Is noon alright with you?"

"That's great!" Keith talked with him some more before they went their separate way.

"Pff! Keith! Why did I have to hide so much?" Fira popped out of Keith's collar and stared at him.

Keith laughed, "Sorry about that. But I don't think it would be good to have so many people see you." They would definitely be surprised about it. Mir could be played off as a simple monster. The same could be said about Aria.

Fira, not so much.

"I want a cookie," Fira pouted.

"Sure. I'll give you a cookie later. We need to meet with my grandma and grandpa." Keith came here a day earlier than expected.

...

"Captain, why did you listen to that kid's direction?" One of the guards questioned. He was confused as to why the captain listened to the child.

"That child is Marquis's Freed's son. Do you want to go against his words?" The captain stared at the guard. Marquis Freed was not to be trifled with. Not only that, Keith was the grandson of a Grand Duke!

That was asking for trouble.

"Now get back to work!" The captain stated. He followed Keith's words, helping them out.

...

Keith arrived in front of the gates,

"Young Master Keith, we've been expecting you," The guards greeted Keith.

Keith scratched his head, "I came here a day earlier than expected."

"But the duke and duchess told us to be prepared at any time."

"..." I see. Keith sighed as he entered the estate. And when he entered,

"Keith!" Camelia called out to her grandson and hugged him.

Keith smiled and hugged her back, "Grandma!"

"You've grown so much taller now!"

Keith rubbed his nose, "Grandma, I didn't grow so much." It was a month since they last met with one another. With the teleportation gate added to the northern region, Camelia and Lionel met with them many times.

It was a great thing.

"But you definitely had," Camelia examined him.

"Hello, Grandpa!" Keith smiled at Lionel. Lionel nodded, "It's good to see you again,"

"Where are Leon and Laura?" Lionel questioned.

"Ahh, they're staying home," Keith laughed. Leon and Laura were dotted on by the two ten-fold!

"Come now, let's get something to eat," Keith nodded, and the three entered the manor. At the dining table, he started to talk about the things he did,

"That's incredible, Keith!"
