You're My Only Star

Song Xing Xing woke up in the morning as her phone on the bedside table continued to ring. She sat up in the bed and tugged at the quilt to cover her body. 

As she looked around, she noticed that Lu Xun had left the bed and was taking his shower in the bathroom. Song Xing Xing reached for the phone and stared at the caller ID with a dazed expression.

Just before the call was about to end, she finally swiped her finger on the screen and pressed the phone to her ear. "Hello?"

"Xing Xing?" Mother Lu spoke. She realized that Song Xing Xing's voice sounded a little groggy and noticed the time difference. "Sorry. I realized that it was still early in the morning over there. Were you sleeping?"

Song Xing Xing could not help but feel alarmed when she heard Zhen Wen Yu's tone of voice. She rubbed her eyes and tried to speak with a normal voice. "Mom? It's fine. Is there something?"

"Xing Xing... mom and dad had just seen the news on the internet," Zhen Wen Yu spoke. "This child. You have been suffering for a few days. Why didn't you say anything? If An Ran did not show us the post, we would continue to know nothing."

She immediately knew that Lu Xun's mother was referring to the rumors that has been circulating on the internet. 

"Mom, you don't have to worry much. Everything over here has been resolved."

"Didn't I tell you that you can come to me if Lu Xun is bullying you?"

This matter... how can it be said that Lu Xun was bullying her?

"He should resolve this matter from the very beginning. Why did he have to wait for days before he clarify this matter?" 

"Mom, it was me who had asked him to do this."

"No. That boy was too busy with work to care about anything else. Xing Xing, don't worry. I will talk to him and teach him a lesson."

Song Xing Xing heard her mother-in-law's words and became speechless. It felt that no matter what she said, Mother Lu would not listen and continued to worry.

However, hearing her mother-in-law's concern made her heart warm. She had only spent her time briefly with Lu Xun's family but everyone in his family had treated her well. 

"And that Shi An Na! How could she cause trouble like this?" Zhen Wen Yu continued to speak. "Xing Xing, don't believe in anything she said. Lu Xun and her had broken up years ago."

"Mmm... Mom, I know. I trust Lu Xun."

Hearing her words Zhen Wen Yu finally paused and heaved with relief.

As Zhen Wen Yu had stopped talking, Song Xing Xing finally noticed the background noise on Zhen Wen Yu's side. It seemed that there were a lot of people talking and an announcement.

"Mom, where are you?"

"Ah? Right. Mom forgot to tell you," Zhen Wen Yu said. "I tried to call Lu Xun earlier but he did not pick up."

Song Xing Xing turned her head to look at the bathroom where Lu Xun was still showering.

"Your Dad and I are on our way there."

"Ah?" Song Xing Xing sat up immediately in shock. "Mom, why are you coming?" She glanced at the calendar and frowned when she realized that she did not get the date wrong. "Didn't you say that you would come next week?"

"After everything that happened, how can we wait until next week? Your dad managed to take a few days off earlier and bought our flight tickets."

Song Xing Xing was in a daze upon hearing her mother-in-law's words.

"Xing Xing, your parents must be worried about you," Zhen Wen Yu spoke. "Everything happened because of Lu Xun. Since he was at fault, of course, Mom and Dad will have to meet your parents to explain things."

As a mother, Zhen Wen Yu could understand Song Xing Xing's parents well. Song Xing Xing was their only daughter. She grew up under her parents' care and was spoiled. 

Zhen Wen Yu thought that if she found out that someone was criticizing her daughter when she had not done anything, she would be upset as well. 

Her son had let her daughter-in-law suffer for a few days.

If she was in Song Xing Xing's parents' shoes, she would not allow Lu Xun to marry her daughter. He did not protect her well. How could she trust him with her daughter?

Unfortunately, Lu Xun is their son. 

Zhen Wen Yu feared that Song Xing Xing's parents were going to object to her son marrying their daughter. This was the reason she had urged her husband to hand over his job to someone else and head over to see Song Xing Xing's parents quickly.

It was hard for her son to find someone that he liked. Now that he had finally found someone he could spend his life with, naturally, Zhen Wen Yu had to help her son to bring back a daughter-in-law for her.

Her son was at fault and she wanted to explain to Song Xing Xing's parents. 

Zhen Wen Yu could only hope that Song Xing Xing's parents were going to see their sincerity and would not stop their son from marrying their daughter.

Meanwhile, Song Xing Xing was unable to respond for a long time. 

She had woken up a few minutes ago and she was having a hard time trying to figure out what was going on.

This... Her parents-in-law were coming to visit her parents?

Song Xing Xing almost jumped out the bed upon realizing what happened. She snapped out of her thought and spoke, "Mom, what time will you be arriving in Capital City? I can come over and pick you up at the airport."

"There's no need for that."

"Ah?"

"Your Dad and I are heading straight to Y City to meet your parents," Zhen Wen Yu spoke. "This is an urgent matter. We can't wait that long lest your parents were going to misunderstand that we did not care about you."

There was another announcement in the background.

"Alright. It was time for us to board our plane. Later, Mom will send you our flight number. Xing Xing, don't worry. Mom and Dad will help to explain to your parents."

Song Xing Xing sat on her bed with a dazed expression for a long time.

It was not until Lu Xun had come out from the bathroom and called her name did she finally snapped out of her trance.

"What's wrong?" Lu Xun stretched his hand to pinch her cheek. "Why are you in a daze?"

Song Xing Xing raised her head to meet his gaze.. "Your mom and dad are heading to Y City to meet my parents."
