You're My Only Star

Lu Xun walked out of the bedroom and followed the old butler until they reached Song Chen's study. The butler knocked on the door twice and opened the door before he retreated.

When he entered the study, Song Xing Xing's father was standing beside the window, looking at the night scene. Lu Xun watched the old man and took a deep breath. "Uncle, you called to see me?"

Song Chen turned around and hesitated when he saw Lu Xun. He nodded and gestured towards the sofa set in the room. "Have a seat.

Lu Xun glanced at the three-seater and noticed the pillow and blanket. He retracted his gaze and finally chose to sit at the empty spot.

The sound of the liquid pouring was loud in the room.

Lu Xun watched as Song Chen walked over with a glass of alcoholic drinks. His hand subconsciously tightened as he braced himself of what was going to happen.

"You drink?" Song Chen raised a brow at him.

"Yes."

Hearing his answer, Song Chen poured another glass of drink before he walked over. After passing the glass to Lu Xun, Song Chen sat on the opposite and took a sip from his drink.

Song Chen did not speak to him for a long time. From the corner of his eyes, Lu Xun continued to watch as the man drank his whiskey.

He wondered if Song Xing Xing's father was only looking for someone to accompany him for a drink.

This silence between them was starting to give him anxiety.

As Lu Xun was secretly observing Song Chen, the man was also doing the same thing.

On this day, Song Chen had suffered some grievance when he was scolded by his wife and father. They had called him petty for his treatment of Lu Xun.

Song Chen was unhappy.

After speaking with his daughter, Song Chen spent a long time wondering if he was in the wrong. Song Chen waited for his daughter to return to her room to sleep before he let the butler call Lu Xun to meet him.

"I heard from Song Yi that you have helped Xing Xing to get out of trouble with that celebrity the last time," Song Chen spoke after a while. "Thank you."

If he could not protect his girlfriend, then what kind of boyfriend would he be?

Lu Xun took drank all the whiskey in his glass and suddenly felt a little courageous. He sat up straight and stared at Song Chen. "Uncle, I want to marry Xing Xing. I hope that you can give us your blessings."

Song Chen was about to take another sip when he suddenly heard Lu Xun speak.

The words that Lu Xun had said... would definitely make him spill out his drink!

Song Chen grew speechless at his answer. His gaze fell on the drink in Lu Xun's hand and wondered if this man was probably drunk.

However, looking at his clear gaze... it doesn't seem that way. This brat was serious about asking for his blessings to marry his daughter.

Song Chen wanted to lash out at Lu Xun but his movement halted the moment he recalled his conversation with his daughter again.

For his daughter's sake, Song Chen could only hold his anger. He did not want to make his daughter sad.

"Uncle, I am aware that you don't think that Song Xing Xing and I are not compatible. But I am willing to work hard to prove that we are suitable. I will make her happy. As long as you agree, I am willing to do anything that you ask me to do."

Song Chen tightened his grip on the glass. Fortunately, his grip was not strong enough to crush it. "Alright. Then hand over all of your assets."

Lu Xun pondered over his word for a second before he took out his phone "I will let my assistant arrange everything quickly."

His eyes widened.

Song Chen was only saying those words to anger him. Who would have thought that this man would be so serious?

"No need. We don't need your money."

His movement halted. Lu Xun raised his head again to look at the old man. "Other than that amount of money, I don't have anything else with me. Uncle, I am willing to give everything I have for Xing Xing."

As someone who would often try to find a way to lose money, Lu Xun naturally did not care if he was going to lose them if it meant that he could get Song Chen's approval.

"That is the money that you have worked hard for. Why would I need them?" Song Chen's face darkened again.

If anyone know that he had asked Lu Xun to give up his asset to let him and his daughter be together, he would get criticized!

"I can always work hard again to gain more money. But there is only one Xing Xing. I cannot lose her."

Song Chen stared at Lu Xun for a long time. The serious look on his face was making him waver. Lu Xun's sincerity was scaring him.

Song Chen was reminded of his father's words again. If he continued to reject Lu Xun, would he be delaying his daughter's happiness?

Song Xing Xing's bright smile when she talked about her relationship with Lu Xun reappeared in his mind.

That is the daughter that he had raised and protected.

However, he could not bear to be the reason for Xing Xing to stop smiling at him again.

Song Chen looked away and heaved a long breath. "Forget it. Whether you can marry my daughter or not depended on my daughter's opinion. There's no use of giving my blessings if she did not want to marry you."

Lu Xun was startled by his words. "If she agrees?"

Song Chen felt as if Lu Xun was trying to anger him. He already said what needed to be said. Why was he so slow? How can he be successful in his business when he was this slow?

"If my daughter is happy with you, do you think I want to be the obstacle and take that happiness away from her?" Song Chen snorted.

Lu Xun looked at the man in front of him with unfocused eyes. Previously, he had drunk a lot to feel braver. Now that he had said what he wanted to say and had received a positive answer, his body felt more relaxed.

The corner of his lips continued to tilt up into a smile.

Song Chen thought that the boy in front of him has become silly. He drank his whiskey again and spoke. "It's getting late. You should go back to your room."

Lu Xun looked at Song Chen with a pair of bright eyes.

Song Chen saw this scene and was suddenly frightened. He suddenly had an ominous feeling. "What do you want?"

"Father-in-law, thank you."

His eyes widened in shock.
