Chapter 215
215 Research.
Valerian moved and retreated to create a distance between the two. He looked at Tut and the other party looked at him, and said, “You are strong, but this is not enough to kill my thousand brothers.”
The silver-haired boy shook his head and said, “You think too much of yourself, let me show you what is my true strength then.”
That said, he raised his hand and without an incantation he cast wind blades, although Tut was strong and could sense the attacks coming at him, but the cut in the tendons have made his movements flustered. The wind blades were not following a straight line, but they moved in the void and left gashes on the other tendons on the body of the Valkyrian grandmaster.
His battle armor protected him, but the armor was akin to something made of steel and had a few gaps to allow flexibility to the joints. The gashes made the guy bleed and groan from pain. He did not have the time to say anything when a light flashed in front of his eyes and he was blinded.
The next moment a cold sensation ran through his neck and by the time he regained his vision, he spotted his body standing below and his conscious was lost. After casting the light flash, Valerian had moved forward with his steel sword and channeling battle aura and mana into it together. Then he slashed off at Tut’s neck, beheading it.
The surroundings turned silent, they did not expect that this young boy could defeat a grandmaster from the Valkyrian nation with this ease. They could understand that this child must have killed the thousand men on his own, this was the terrifying capability of a battlemage. The students from the Valkyrian nation shivered and the rest of the people had complex emotions in their mind.
Just when everyone thought that the dust has settled, they all heard a deafening roar. Valerian raised his head and found a vermillion lion rushing over to him from the sky. The Archmages stood up from their seats and they were thinking about taking an action when Fallax said, “Rest your horses.”
The people looked at him and saw him pointing at the platform. Valerian jumped high in the void using his muscles and then he cast a wind spell reaching closer to the lion king, the beast was surprised, and opened its mouth, shooting a ball of fire at Valerian.
The silver-haired boy would have taken action and used the water spell to counter, but since he could not show his skills just yet, he took out the wooden sword from his magic pouch and slashed at the fire ball, making it vanish in the void.
.....
Just when he was about to fall down, Linea appeared and supported him. Valerian let out a low roar and waved his hand, a lance of light energy appeared and stabbed through the head of the lion king from the side. The beast growled but it’s body lost vitality faster than imagination and it fell to the ground with a loud thud.
Thankfully the place it fell was empty or a few students would have died accidently. Valerian commanded Linea to take him down and he landed on the platform. He cast a gaze at the Archmages and grandmasters in the academy and after a bow he turned around and left the place.
Fallax laughed and said, “Good, we will have Lion king meat tonight.”
Lilian smiled beside him and nodded. Fallax did not spare a glance to the salivating fellow teachers on the side. He just went ahead and collected the corpse of the lion king in his magic pouch and said to a student from Valkyria, “Go call for a postal staff and have this guy sent back home. Tell them not to do such an act again, otherwise the academy will not sit in the sideline. Does your emperor mean to trample on our pride by doing this? You do not wish for us reclusive teachers to go out and pay him a visit.”
The rest of the staff that had been always wary of Fallax nodded and this moment. They were all people who dedicated their lives to the gifts they had and to teach the people to use these gifts for welfare of the people, and they gave up their nations, solely becoming the teachers of the academy. They had their own pride and will never let go of anyone who messes with them.
Valerian was unaware of this, it was more like he did not care about anyone either. He came to the battlemage tower and went inside, straight to the book shelf. It was not long that after him Lilian and Fallax came inside.
Valerian bowed to Lilian and tossed the small silver dragon at Fallax as he asked, “Do you know what is this?”
Then he picked up his book and began to read it again. The topic of the book was related to Dragon magics. Valerian thought about it and he found that every time he uses the decay magic his consciousness fades and something else takes control. So he wanted to find out if the magic of dragons had a problem.
Fallax did not mind his indifferent attitude and after looking at the silver dragon he asked with his brows raised, “Where did you find this?”
Valerian cast a gaze at Priscilla, who narrated the entire incident to Fallax. The old man nodded and said, “This my boy is a sacred relic that the priests of the dragon temple used to carry around with them.”
The silver-haired boy was surprised and mumbled, “Relic of the dragon temple, hmmm, tell me what is sacred about it?”
Fallax shook his head and said, “Every dragon temple had one of these relics carried by the High priest. When the dragons lived all over the world, this group of people worshiped them as the gods of magic and strength. So, impressed by the worship of the people, the dragons will instill a shred of their mana inside the relics.
The purpose of these relics was to defend and transport. However, to activate this relic, another key was needed, that could channel the mana of dragon who instilled their mana inside this relic. It was said that those keys were the most fragile things and the high priests cared for them more than their lives.
Later when the dragons went back to their kingdom, those keys self destructed and the Empires began to loot the dragon temples and the priests were banished. The emperors did not wish to have someone else worshipped other then themselves. To think that the world can change so much in a mere decade.”
Valerian nodded and Fallax tossed back the relic to him. He said, “It is a good paperweight. I will go and cook some lion king meat. Also, where is Fortuna?”
The child was surprised and then said, “She went out for training.”
Fallax nodded and said, “This guy will have a magic core, I will extract it for her.”
Valerian nodded and began to read the books with adept focus. He did not care about anything or even time. His routine became reading and reading all day long. Priscilla will feed him the nourishment supplement and report the day to Fragrantia.
After two weeks, Valerian did not find anything in the books, so he began to think again. His dragon magic was not natural he thought, it was inherited. He thought, ‘If only Fortuna was here, she could have given me a better idea. I wonder where she is.’
Valerian sighed and began to look for clues with this point of view.
...
Azula was sitting in the study facing the Empress with a cold face, she said, “When were you planning to tell me this?”
She had just found out about Valerian’s condition and was angry about it. Fragrantia shook her head and said, “It was sudden, I did not mean to hide from you, but you must have heard the rumors circulating all over the empire? The fourth prince killed his orphanage warden, the fourth prince is a curse, the fourth prince has the power of the devil and that is why he could kill those thousand men, etc.”
Azula nodded and said, “I received a tip that Jamal Centurion is behind this mess. Also, another news was intercepted, Val fought with a grandmaster from Valkyria and beheaded him in front of everyone with ease. There is a saying that he is an Archmage and a grade seven warrior.
You leave this rumor conversion to me, I will deal with it. Just try and find out what is the cure to his situation.”
Fragrantia nodded to her daughter, she did not know Azula would be this protective of her cousin. She smiled and said, “Flos, looks like my daughter has taken a little after you.”
...
Inside the battlemage tower, Valerian suddenly stood up as the book in his hand fell to the ground. He was shocked with what he just found out.
