Chapter 287 Serious (7)
"How are things there, Luke?" Frederick asked via Telepathy.
"Jake is resisting. Even though we are trying to decrease his army, he is pretty much playing with us," Luke replied. "He can summon his own monsters, and the more we wait, the more he can summon, aside from the ones using the crystal."
"How can you be so incompetent? Why don't you use your power and bring others to ambush him?"
"Rose, huh… I don't think that is a good idea," Luke replied. "If we attack like that, all possibilities of negotiation in the future will be out of the question."
"What a shitty excuse…" Rose said.
"No, he has a point…" Frederick said. "In any case, if the others demand you to teleport them to where Jake is, you should say that we can't go that far until he does something that will endanger everyone."
"The other guild masters won't like that," Rose said.
"I know, but it's better than hurrying things up and forcing them to end up like before…" Frederick said. "Focus on keeping an eye on Jake for the time being and on completing the quest, Luke. Tell the others to do the same because only you guys will be able to follow him once things end there."
"All right," Luke said. "What about those guys?"
"Even if they head to that world, they will be teleported to an area free of conflicts," Frederick replied. "I doubt that they will find Jake before he completes the mission. That being said, Louise's group still is a bit down, so it will take a few days for them to move. I will try to keep them occupied with something else. We already started this on the wrong foot. We can't afford to make things worse."

The battle ended after half an hour, and Jake felt like something was off. He lost some monsters, but it felt like the masters or even Luke didn't want to try anything new, or perhaps they were afraid of something. They couldn't be that bad at controlling monsters… Jake was also waiting for Luke to use his powers and ambush him, but he sure was taking his time to do that.
"Well, I can keep summoning monsters in case they are plotting something," Jake thought. "That being said, I doubt that they will come here in the middle of hundreds of monsters to attack me. They should have known some of my skills as well, so they must be a little bit cautious."
That was all speculation so that Jake couldn't drop his guard. Still, in the end, the enemies only launched small scare attacks. He tried to check things in the distance to see what was happening in the base, but they weren't exposing themselves. Jake was sure that some people that King Judas had killed would have shown up now to attack him, but they weren't that stupid…
Jake was a bit disappointed when the ten days of the quest passed without many issues… he thought that humans were trying really hard to make sure that other humans wouldn't reach the next stage before them, but he assumed that he was wrong, even if he was surrounded by four masters, they lacked spirit.
"I guess Luke isn't as reckless as I suspected. He knows that I wouldn't be willing to talk anymore once his friends or his attacks," Jake thought when the last day of the quest arrived. "Since it has come to this, should I try to be a bit more reasonable?"
Since they more or less knew him, Frederick and Luke were trying to prevent them from letting things reach a point of no return. Jake was the same. He was willing to cooperate with them to a certain extent, but not to the point where he would be put under house arrest. In the end, if he does that, other people might try to cause him problems. So, his best option was to keep doing his own things without showing any suspicious activity.
After a couple of hours, Jake noticed that the crystal began to shrink in size and eventually stopped spawning monsters… not only that, the ordinary golems began to disappear as well.

"So, this is the famous Beyblade attach, huh…" Jake thought. "Still, why did I receive the rewards before being sent back to that planet?"
Jake waited for a while, but the system didn't send him anywhere. That was definitely odd. When he checked the missions list, things changed a bit there. Quests didn't have a time limit anymore, no rewards aside from fame either… at least the new ones.
Planet Gnuna - Mission: Clear the Humanoid Snakes dungeon in four days. Reward:120.000 coins, 12.000 fame, and a special weapon.
Planet Honope - Mission: Clear the Electric Avian dungeon in six days. Reward:140.000 coins, 14.000 fame, and a class.

"What is going on… that means that I can't get new classes and items from clearing those quests?" Jake rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "This is hella weird…"
Regardless, Jake assumed that he had just arrived at another crossroad in that universe, just like when he left the tutorial zone. Things would be different now… it was a bit annoying since he didn't even know how much time he had to clear the quests, but it couldn't be helped. Things wouldn't be convenient for him forever.
