Chapter 266 Will (2)
Jake didn't have most things under control, but at least he had his pride. He would fail by doing things as usual. Regardless, the electric avians took notice of the crystal wolves thanks to their intervention, and some flew to attack them. Jake clicked his tongue… while they could cause damage, they also could receive a lot of damage due to the nature of their powers.
In the end, Jake fired dozens of Mana Blades furiously to stop the enemies that were flying toward the crystal wolves. Fortunately, his companions also kept firing Ice Spears, so it didn't take long for the electric avians that flew toward them to be eliminated.
"All right, morons," Jake shouted. "You all stay out of this!"
Despite his shouting, the crystal wolves didn't hear Jake. The storm was that powerful… it was weird, though. Unless they were in their rebellious phase… They should be able to obey him even by just following his mind… or maybe they were too far away even for that to happen. Nevertheless, the monsters kept attacking, and the more and more enemies began to notice and fly toward them…
Jake clicked his tongue again… he already had too many problems to deal with, and now he had to protect his summoned crystal wolves. Since they became noticed by the enemies, Jake realized that he would have to fight on the ground, and there was no other choice. However, he had an idea regarding that…
While he was falling, Jake used Explosive Touch when he kicked the monster that he was using as a platform. Thanks to that, in the next moment, Jake suddenly got close to the enemy he had aimed to approach… he imagined that Flash wouldn't work in that situation for one reason or the other, so he tried that and worked. He almost saw the beast showing a look of surprise when Jake suddenly appeared nearby, already swinging down his sword. In the end, the skull of the creature was split with a single attack.
Jake chose his next target and then kicked while using Explosive Touch on the next enemy. While using that strategy, Jake managed to approach the monsters that were targetting his summons. When they noticed Jake getting closer, the electric avians realized that they couldn't ignore him. Now that he had learned how to have some mobility in the air, he was a far more dangerous threat.
After killing a few hundred monsters like that while avoiding the enemies' attacks, the electric avians realized that they needed to change their approach to the fight. They used some of their allies to keep Jake busy while fighting him, while the others flew upward as much as they could. Eventually, Jake found himself without enemies to use as platforms. So, he landed nearby his summons.
"Maybe this isn't so good…" Jake said when he saw the enemies summoning Thunder Spears.
Jake grabbed his lance again and prepared to throw himself upward like before. Unfortunately, the enemies attacked before… they aimed at him at his crystal wolves. Jake managed to protect himself with his dark flames, but he couldn't protect all of his summons. While clicking his tongue… Jake waited patiently, and then he eventually threw the lance.
The weapon flew upward until it passed the monsters, and they waited for Jake to pass by them and hit him all at the same time, but they didn't notice that he let go of the lance, and he still got some momentum propelling him upward. Thanks to that, he managed to kill three of them without being noticed.
"Take that! You sons of a bitches!" Jake roared.
Adding kicks to his repertoire of attacks really helped Jake, to the point that it looked like the storm clouds were making the electric avians rain as well. Here and there, the monsters managed to hit him, but the damage caused wasn't higher than the energy Jake could recover with each kill. Not to mention, his summoned crystal wolves still were attacking and killing a few enemies here and there.
Things kept going like that until Jake felt the same way when he was facing the humanoid snakes. He could control his body, but it felt like his instincts were stronger and that he had become a machine that kept fighting and fighting non-stop. Several hours passed in the blink of an eye, at least from his perspective, and Jake suddenly lost the platforms. Rather, he lost the enemies to kill and use, so he began to fall. Despite falling from a spot five kilometers above ground level, Jake only suffered a small amount of damage when he landed on his feet. Around him, he saw a sea of blood, corpses, and loot.
"Well… This was a good experience," Jake thought while he was watching smoke and steam leaving his body.
He got hit so many times, and he pushed his body so much that was the result that Jake got. He was satisfied since he knew now how he could face numerous flying enemies. He looked around and saw that he had lost twelve of his wolves, but he still felt annoyed. It was weird, though. Jake preferred to fight alone, but he felt angry at the thought of losing his companions… Comparisons that comparisons could summon as many as he wanted. It seemed that he valued loyalty more than a little bit.
"You guys can eat these mother fuckers after you get all the feathers, it will take a while, but it should be possible before I deal with the boss," Jake said.
