Chapter 251 Against An Army (1)
When Jake approached the field, it didn't take long for the monsters to notice him. Those armed with spears dashed toward him, and those armed with crossbows began to fire at a stupidly quick pace from a distance. Still, their projectiles were weak, and with his peripherical vision, Jake blocked them… by using his dark flames. The bolts were instantly disintegrated.
"Well, well… isn't this pretty fun?" Jake thought.
Although the bolts flew pretty fast, Jake still could follow them with his eyes and make only four orbs of dark flames get rid of them. Eventually, the monsters had to stop because the spearman finally got close enough to attack him. They enchanted their weapons with either fire or poison magic and then tried to stab Jake, but he swung his sword in an arc and repelled all of those attacks. At the same time, he dashed toward them. With just the impulse granted by Flash, Jake cut half of the head of one monster, and he used Mana Blade to finish the creature off. He did that several times in a row until the spearman tried to move away from him and used their spells to bombard Jake.
In the end, Jake ran away from them and used the shield on his back to block the attacks… while he dashed toward the monsters that were equipped with crossbows. Again, they tried to bombard him with bolts, but the orbs blocked them. When he got too close that he couldn't react to their speed, Jake just used his sword to block most of them and then used Flash. Before long, several corpses were flying in the air after being hit by Jake, and then they began to fall apart in pieces. At close range, those creatures couldn't do much against Jake, and when they tried to move away, he just approached…

Eventually, the monsters split so much that they became several groups. Not to mention, they even considered firing their bolts without caring about their allies. Still, when they were about to do that, Jake used Flash to approach and prevent them from attacking. He could move that much while spamming such skill thanks to Motivation…
Eventually, the spearman managed to surround him in a circle formation that basically had three lines. Even if he kills one of the first line trying to escape, the others behind will manage to stab him. They were pretty smart… to the point that the archers began to move away from the battlefield since they didn't know if even that would work.
While slowing approaching, the humanoid snakes pointed their weapons at Jake and used their magic. Jake stopped moving and then created walls of flames that moved around him and blocked the spells. The enemies clenched their mouths in annoyance since dozens of projectiles were being blocked, and Jake showed no signs of getting tired. He just waited patiently until the enemies got in his range… He had the idea of spreading his flames and dealing with all of them at the same time, but that would be boring. He waited until they got enough to stab him, and when they were about to do that, Jake hit the ground creating a dust cloud.
"Ah, I love this trick," Jake said.
Jake lowered his stance and dodged the spears. In the next moment, he swung his sword in a wide arc and immediately split the monsters in half. Usually, that wouldn't happen that easily, but Jake used Bash, Cyclone Strike, Rage, and all his other buffs that increased his strength to get that result.
The enemies behind got surprised, and Jake used that change to get them. He used Flash and then two Cyclone Strikes to behead three of the humanoid snakes, and then he broke their encirclement. Still, instead of running away, he dashed toward the others, and when they tried to stab him, he just overpowered them with his sword strike. After that, things got one-sided. The monsters were smart and could use tactics, but they didn't have anything that they could use as their ultimate weapon. They could adapt to most enemies, but now when the enemy was someone who could overpower them like that. Since Jake was alone and had the tools to survive by himself, it was even harder to wound him since only a few monsters could attack him at a time.
"Well, that was disappointing…" Jake said while looking around and seeing the corpses of the monsters. "It seems I overestimated them since they had weapons and armor… maybe they had that because they were weak, to begin with."
Which was weird… but nevertheless, something like that was bound to happen. The armors that the monsters could use weren't helpful for Jake, but they could be sold in the shop, and they dropped a few of those alongside the spears and crossbows. Unfortunately, they didn't drop much of anything else.

"What the heck is the perfect range?" Jake thought.
In any case, it seems that Jake could fire as many bolts as he wanted using only one mana point. It seemed like a fun weapon to use now and then, so he made sure to keep one of them. After finishing things there, Jake headed in the direction the other monsters escaped.
Jake found many fields like that one along the way, and in each field, he also saw some destroyed villages. Again, he wondered if they lost because of the tactics of the monsters or if they were just plain weak. He also couldn't understand the people of the worlds that had dungeons and didn't hundreds of guards watching those places all the time…
