Chapter 242 Back Together (2)
While Jake was bothered by some wolves during the night, ultimately, he had a pleasant sleep, so he woke up feeling a lot better. The wound was healing, but in the end, there was still purple around it, and just the touch was enough to make Jake flinch.
"He didn't curse or poison, but… this sure is taking a long time to heal," Jake said.
Jake wasn't overestimating his Recovery. He usually could recover from broken bones after a single night. In fact, he had broken a lot more than usual on the previous day, and they all had been healed already, so he couldn't understand how come the wound was different.
In any case, Jake left the cave and began to hunt again. His limbs were better now, but he could tell that the powerful attack that he blocks will make the wound in his chest increase. Nevertheless, he was tired of just using the dark flames, so he was going to use the Orc Hero's Sword. Or so was that his plan… before he could find the first group of enemies. He found a group even more troublesome.
"Why are you guys here?" Jake asked. "Middle schoolers shouldn't play in the park of the high schoolers."
"What a stupid analogy…" Lana said. "The guild master asked us to bring you these."
Lana was carrying dark blue armor, and Louise had a magic staff. While he was thankful that he would get those a bit earlier than expected, he was a bit troubled that Frederick made them come. They should have to clear two or three other missions before reaching that kind of map.

"The guild master must consider you quite the good friend considering that he is giving you these," Lana said.
"I forced him to pay information, and I would never accept anything from him without reason like this," Jake said.
"You seem wounded, Jake," Louise said. "The guild master also mentioned that something happened here and since other guild masters showed up..."
"Nothing major, just the usual," Jake replied and then went to equip his new armor inside the cave.
The dark blue armor looked really cool; usually, light blue wouldn't suit him, but dark blue pretty much looks fine on anyone. In any case, it was annoying that Jake would have to use the magic staff to master the spell. It would have been fine yesterday, but not today…
"You guys are still here?" Jake asked when he left the cave. "Go home, sho, sho."
"This place looks like a decent spot to grind, we also would be able to help with the mission if we stay here for a while longer," Lana said.
"Do you remember what happened to Icarus?" Jake asked.
"We Russia, there is a saying… The greedy man shall pay twice," Karina said.
"It will be fine… If Jake helps us," Lana said.
That seemed like a pain, but Louise and Julian sure looked excited about the idea. Louise wanted the old party to work again, and Julian wanted to see Jake fighting. Jake recalled that he said that he could help them now and then, but…
"I suppose that despite the fact that you were following orders like errand boys, I still owe you a favor…" Jake said. "I suppose it is fine today since the other parties are a bunch of scaredy cats."
"Hehehe, this will be fun," Lana said. "Although I find it weird that you accepted that so easily. Anyway, we have three front liners, so things will be easy."
"I am going to stay on the backline and master the wand," Jake said.
That was a bit surprising, but it would be fine for the time being. They knew that Jake had some long ranged skills, so he could use those holding the magic staff.
"How should we proceed?" Lana asked.
"Why do you ask me? Who is the leader of your party?" Jake asked.
"Louise and I usually make the calls, but you know this area better," Lana said.
"Then you should keep making the calls. If you fail, then I will have some motivation for laughter today."
"Well, if you can fight here, then it shouldn't be so hard," Lana said.
Lana took the lead of the group while feeling pretty confident. In any other situation, Jake would let her fail a few times to learn her lesson, but failing at such a mission just once might cause her death.
It didn't take long for them to be noticed by a group of crystal wolves. When the beasts began to charge toward them, Karina moved to the side, and Julian stepped forward to keep the beasts away from the backline. At some point, it felt like Karina disappeared, so the focus of the monsters became Julian.
Soon enough, Jake learned what it was his innate skill… It was Counter. Numerous Ice Arrows flew toward them, but the kid sent those flying back to the enemies. Louise got some mana from those projectiles, so Julian had an easy time doing that.
When she had enough mana, she fired some Thunder Arrows toward the monsters and paralyzed them. Using that chance, Karina approached and then sliced the throat of two of the monsters, and then she disappeared again.
"I see, so Lana is useless as always," Jake said.
"Shut up. I am always the MVP when we fight bosses," Lana said.
"Whatever you say," Jake said and then fired dark Bullets toward the head of the remaining monsters.
