Chapter 240 Old Friend (4)
Frederick sighed when he saw Jake headed toward the area of the dungeon. He was one step away from dying, but he was still being unreasonable and trying to fight. Frederick wondered why the criminals wanted Jake dead so much… it was true that he destroyed one of their operations, but so others got in their way.

While Jake was moving toward the dungeon, the wound in his torso was throbbing… it was quite annoying… still, he could get used to it and then increase his tolerance to that. In any case, the number of parties in the area was increasing. Despite the snowstorm, Jake could see several of them heading in the same direction.
"I guess it can't be helped…" Jake said. "I don't think this wound will close today or tomorrow, so I should use these guys to complete the quest as soon as possible."
Jake equipped the Orc Hero's Sword but carrying it made the wound open a little, and some extra blood began to leave the wound. It was too soon for his body to make that much physical effort. After taking a deep breath, Jake found a group of trees and decided to take a break there. He was wrong when he thought the fight ended in a draw… the enemy almost killed him.
In the end, Jake took off his damaged shirt and armor, at least the upper part, and he cleaned his body and the armor from the blood. The cold of the snow began to help Jake close the wound once again… but he couldn't overuse that or stay without his shirt and armor because the area was freezing cold. It wouldn't be weird if his wounds start to burn due to the cold and he gets some frostbites.
"Ah, screw it…" Jake said and then hit the ground with Explosive Touch.
The heat wave made all the snow in the area disappear, so Jake felt a little warmer for a moment, and his shirt also got less wet. He repeated that a few times until he could wear it without hurting his body like hell.
Jake stopped bleeding, but his limbs were too tired to move… It must have been due to his blood loss. So, Jake had two options, retreat and hurt his pride or compromise and keep going.
"I guess I will compromise…" Jake thought.
Eventually, Jake found some bigger shadows in the distance. They also were on four, so one didn't have to be a genius to guess that the monsters were there. When they got a bit closer, Jake saw them. They were pretty similar to the ones he saw in the tutorial, but their eyes were crystal blue, and they had some crystal-like scales on some parts of their bodies. Those looked pretty but not very sturdy…

Those creatures were a lot more magic focused than expected. In any case, Jake couldn't see the point of developing ice spells when the whole place was like a frozen hell. When the wolves saw Jake alone, they tried to surround him, but not for long. Soon, they used Ice Arrows. Jake jumped to the side to dodge them, and while he succeeded, it made him dizzy and hurt his chest as well.
"Not even this, huh… fuck you," Jake said.
Jake summoned some dark flames and then changed their shape to look like drills and made them rotate insanely fast. They were only bullet size, but he couldn't overextend his mind in such a place, so it couldn't be helped. When his aim was right, Jake fired those toward the heads of the monsters, and they pierced their skulls until they reached their brains.

Jake confirmed that his mind was fine… he could fine like that without taxing his head. Still, even if it was his innate skill, it felt a bit weird fighting while using only that. However, Jake was pretty sure that the bald man wasn't the strongest in his organization, so he would have to focus on increasing the strength of that skill. It seemed like magic, but since the system didn't recognize it as a spell, Jake thought that it was fine if he focused on using that.
"They already know about it, might as well surprise them with some extra power…" Jake said and then approached the bodies.
The fur of the wolves seemed like it would make some good material, but Jake was more interested in their crystal scales. While he couldn't use his sword properly, Jake still managed to get one scale with his shuriken. It looked like glass… when he clenched his fist while holding one, it easily broke. Those scales weren't for protection… maybe they helped the monster at using mana. Regardless, Jake decided to get those.
"I never saw those on sale, but the guilds should already be able to come here and get those…" Jason said.
The criminals had a lot of secrets, but the guilds weren't different. Or maybe Jake was just thinking too much about it since few people were like him and didn't join guilds. So, he would know less than the others… Still, Jake's instincts were telling him that there was more to that.
