Chapter 155 - Advice From Mother And Mother-in-law
Unbeknownst to Ethan, it turns out that Dina knows his conversation with Luna. At that time Dina was about to enter the twins' room to give the clothes she bought to Luna, but her steps stopped in front of a slightly ajar door. Even the middle-aged woman can hear all the conversations of her son and daughter-in-law. And when his son came out, she was standing in front of the wall, until he was not noticed.
'Dear God, Don't let them divorce, pity their babies. I have to talk to Mrs. Rita about this matter,' Dina thought while stroking her chest.
She immediately approached Rita who was in the kitchen with Ira.
"Mrs. Rita."
"What's the matter, ma'am?" asked Rita when she saw Dina looking upset.
Dina asked Rita out of the kitchen and asked, "Is it true, Luna will come back to Batam?"
"No, ma'am. I didn't invite Luna and she didn't say she wanted to come either," answered Rita with a look of conviction.
"I heard her conversation with Ethan. She said she wanted to come home to Batam with the babies and she asked for a divorce," said Dina sadly.
"Oh God, why is Luna like that? I don't know, Ma'am."
"I know Ethan has gone too far and made him suffer all this time but I'm sure, Ethan has regretted it and will change his attitude. You saw for yourself, how much Ethan gave love to the twins, to Luna even though he was always ignored?"
"Yes, ma'am. I also don't agree that they are divorced. We should discuss this with Luna," said Rita.
"Yes, ma'am," replied Dina, nodding.
Dina and Rita immediately walked to the twins' room to meet Luna. The two middle-aged women are about to fight for the good of their household and their child who is not even a month old. Of course, the two widows understand how complicated a child's life is when parents separate, even though the child is still a baby.
Dina and Rita entered the room and saw Luna cradling Keyra while turning on a toy to comfort Keenan who was in the crib.
"Luna." Dina approached first with a paper bag containing some clothes she had bought for her daughter-in-law.
"Mommy..," said Luna when she saw that Rita was also behind Dina.
"Here, Mommy, buy you comfortable clothes so that they are easy to use when breastfeeding," said Dina as she put the paper bag on the bed.
"Thanks, Mom. You shouldn't have bothered," replied Luna with a shy smile.
"It's okay. Sweetheart." Dina glanced at Keenan who was cool to see his new toy. The baby swung its arms as if to reach for something above it. "Wow... Keenan got a new toy, huh?"
Dina lowered her head to take Keenan from the crib, then carried him. She kissed the baby, then cuddled him. Rita came closer and asked Luna to sit on the edge of the bed.
"I want to talk to you, dear," said Rita.
"Just talk, Mom," said Luna.
"Is it true, you want a divorce from Ethan?" Rita asked quietly. Meanwhile, Dina listened while cradling Keenan.
Luna just looked down and nodded slowly. She got out of bed and put Keyra into the crib, then sat back down next to Rita who was ready to give her advice.
"Why? Don't think with emotion and rush."
"I can't help but hate Ethan, Mom. I have forgiven him but I can't forget the pain in my heart." Luna looked down with teary eyes.
"Think of your baby, they are still too young to accept your separation from Ethan. Your problems can be resolved amicably. I have also seen how much Ethan loves you and his kids. He's trying hard to fix his mistakes." Rita tried to persuade while holding Luna's shoulder.
Dina put Keenan into the baby crib, then sat beside Luna. She looked sadly at her daughter-in-law who was crying.
"I know Ethan has gone too far, but divorce is not a fairway. Have mercy on your kids," said Dina with all her humility. "I raised Ethan and Edward when after My husband died, it was hard when they felt they needed a father figure. The material and everything that I gave seemed not enough to make them happy."
Dina tells of the complexity of living as a widow by educating Edward and Ethan alone. Even though she has abundant wealth, in fact, Ethan always misses his father figure who had to die because of fate. The middle-aged woman didn't want her grandchild to suffer the same fate just because of a divorce.
"You were also raised in the love of Mom and Dad. Don't you want your child to get the same thing? Isn't it happy to live with a complete family? I'm sure, even now you're still sad because you can't be with your father anymore. Your child will also be like that if you are determined to divorce." Rita kept trying to advise.
Luna just kept looking down and crying. She tried to digest all the advice of her mother and in-laws who always put the happiness of their kids first. The woman also remembered Viona's story about sadness after her parents' divorce. But the image of hatred towards Ethan seemed to make her selfish to be separated could not be melted.
"But I can't get rid of this hatred, Mom. Every time I see Ethan, it hurts so much. He ignores me too much without thinking about how I feel. he forced me to undergo a casarean section to prove my love, I had accepted it, but he kept going even though I cried to prevent him. Ethan always put work ahead of me."
"He snatched my chastity unknowingly, I accept that. I lost my hard-earned career, I've accepted it, and learned to love it. But he destroyed that love only by his blind jealousy over my past with Edward, to the point of ignoring me who was pregnant." Luna took a deep breath, wiping her tears with the back of her hand. "Perhaps if he hadn't forced me to leave, I wouldn't have had such a fatal accident that I had to give birth to my child prematurely.'
Dina immediately embraced Luna who was crying telling her all the pain that had been made by her son. She also cried because she felt sadness. "Just be Patience, Dear. I know this won't be easy for you."
Dina let go of Luna's arms. she wiped her daughter-in-law's tears and said again, "Ethan deserves to be punished, to suffer the same pain as you. But, please don't divorce. Because it will affect you very much."
Rita, who was also crying because she was sad about her daughter's fate, said, "I will not allow you to come to Batam if you insist on a divorce. I will not allow it."
"Think about it carefully, dear. Your family is still as old as corn, it's a shame if you just give up," said Dina.
"Remember your father's message, you must be a good wife and mother. Don't you want to make your father happy?" persuaded Rita.
Luna nodded and remembered her father's message. she remembered, only by being a good wife and mother her father would be happy and proud of her.
"Okay. I won't ask for a divorce. But let me come back to Batam. For a while, I will stay there so that my heart is calm. because if I see Ethan continuously, I will only get emotional and continue to be angry." Finally, Luna gave a decision.
Dina and Rita breathed a sigh of relief. Finally, their efforts to persuade Luna succeeded. Even though Luna will still come back to Batam, at least it can be a lesson for Ethan to feel his pain away from his wife and children.
Luna turned to look at Dina beside her and said "Mom. don't tell Ethan when I'm gone. let him think for himself because I want to see his sincerity in changing his attitude. If he loves me, he should come without me asking to pick me up without fear of rejection."
"Yes, Luna. I promise to stay quiet and not interfere with your problems. because I also feel disappointed in Ethan and Edward who hurt you too much." Diny feels ashamed of Rita. Because her two sons hurt Luna. Edward left Luna to marry Viona, while Ethan took Luna's chastity and career until she was pregnant and was ignored just because of blind jealousy.
"Thanks, Mom," Luna said as she wiped her tears.
"Mommy should be thanking you because you still give Ethan a chance." Dina hugged Luna again. Because she felt very lucky to have the opportunity to remain her mother-in-law.
