Chapter 77: Great Frustration, The Playground (8)
Holy Pop stood up after hearing the holy priestess' changed voice with a different demeanor and knew the goddess had descended to speak after a hundred years.
The other cardinal priests stood several meters behind respectfully.
"I have descended because a calamity is approaching," Elysia spoke through the holy maiden's mouth. "We must deny it to prevent it."
"Calamity?" the holy pop trembled and bowed. "Goddess, please show us the way. Just some hours ago, a powerful demon threatened to wipe out a city with a demonic formation."
"Fortunately, a hero saved the city by defeating the demon. But I'm afraid more of such places are infiltrated by the demons."
'Huh?!' Elysia wanted to slap this pop. 'I am here to make him a bad guy! Why the hell are you bringing him up here?'
'Tsk. Now they will produce doubts if I label him as a heretic without a good reason and fabrication. But no matter what, I have to prevent him from getting people's support.'
"Go and investigate a fallen kingdom to the northeast. The demons are not easy to deal with this time because they are disguised as humans and planning something."
"What?!"
"T-This..."
The holy pop knelt on the ground and pleaded, "Please aid us, Goddess."
"That's why I am here, my children," Elysia smiled. "I shall send my heavenly subjects to aid you tomorrow. They shall stay here and join you to fight the demons. Help them in the investigation and listen to their ordains."
...
Goddess Palace,
Elysia Gothwing looked at the girls in the hall and sternly said, "Monitor his movements whenever it is possible and keep me updated every hour."
"From now on, you all will work in 12-hour shifts turn by turn. Split up into two groups. One will take rest another will continue until twelve o'clock."
The goddess left after saying that, leaving the girls perplexed.
'What happened? How did she suddenly become so serious?'
'This guy called Aleron must be a big trouble for her.'
Meanwhile, Goddess Elysia arrived in her garden and sat on the fluffy sofa chair, sighing, 'It seems I have no choice but to ask for help from the alliance. Tsk.'
Waving her hand, a dreamy blue hologram screen lit up before her.
It was empty, but it showed a familiar face after a few seconds-A handsome black-haired man looking in his thirties with golden-brown eyes.
"Davin," Elysia nodded.
"So, how come my goddess decided to contact me?"
Elysia took a deep breath and somberly said, "I will join your Ethereal Canvas Alliance."
"Woah, woah, woah! Dropping such good news out of nowhere, hahaha," Davin laughed, clearly happy regarding what Elysia said.
But he abruptly paused after two seconds while grinning, "So, what trouble did my goddess encounter?"
Elysia's eyes narrowed, "A competitor appeared."
"Huh? Who is it? A demon lord of the nearby Netherworld?"
"I wish," Elysia clenched her fist, "But it's not a Demon Lord. It's a darn human kid, who is a Legendary rank lifeform, but wields Magilore and already has a bunch of subordinates at Exceed rank, and two at Primeval-rank."
"Wait, what? Legendary-rank, but wields Magilore?" Davin was dumbfounded. "Stop joking."
"I am not," Elysia gritted her teeth. "That's why I am not sending my five Primeval-rank subordinates. He will kill all of them, just like he killed a pseudo-Ascension-rank Demon I painstakingly planted by paying a good price."
Davin frowned.
"The problem is that he is just a Legendary rank right now, so he doesn't have restrictions of competitors like us until he reaches Ascension rank or displays a power of that level," Goddess Elysia frowned and added. "He came close to that level when he killed the Demon, but that wasn't enough to grant him restriction from Cosmic Will."
Davin's eyes glinted, "Now, I am getting curious about this guy...curious enough to make him a warlord if he indeed has extraordinary capabilities."
Elysia's expression darkened, "And what about me if he becomes a warlord? I have to return and you know that this is my only chance. I am not waiting for fucking another 1000 years!"
Davin grinned and said, "Of course, I know that. You have successfully joined my alliance, so I do wish for you to become the 8th warlord of Ethereal Canvas Alliance."
"But nothing comes free, milady. I have around thirty competitors like you who are also asking for help to become a Warlord, but we can't help everyone, right?"
Elysia indifferently nodded before asking, "What's the price?"
Davin appeared to sit on his chair as the camera zoomed out, his outfit same-type as always- a floral short and an open floral shirt.
"We need to assess this new competitor first and get to know more about him. I won't help recklessly because that would be a waste of management and very inefficient. The
competition is not far, after all."
Davin smiled as his eyes scanned Elysia's figure and he licked his lips before saying, "However, we can still discuss the price because there's one thing I absolutely want, and I won't help you without it."
"What?" Elysia frowned.
"A baby," Davin smiled. "I want you to bear my baby. Of course, you don't need to be his mother. After the baby is born, I will take care of him and you can just continue whatever you want without any connection with him."
Elysia's face appeared livid, her fists angrily clenched, 'So he knows about my bloodline... Damn it, damn it!'
'I escaped from Upper Cosmos because I was about to get married off by my father and came here...now this bastard wants the same thing?!'
"You look scary, my lady," Davin chuckled and said, "It's not even that much. We can have fun for some months until you get pregnant and once the baby is born, you can live your life leisurely. Your ascension is my guarantee."
"I'll have to think. Bye," Elysia waved her hand as the dreamy hologram vanished.
"Aaaaaarghhhhh!!"
A cloud scream filled with frustration echoed throughout the Goddess Palace, much like the sound of metal grating but more like a melodious tone to the girls, who felt pleasure knowing that the Goddess who was making many people's lives hard and filling them with suffering was feeling such great frustration herself.
...
Meanwhile, a few hours had passed by with much entertainment for people as the last six players competed in the hard-mode series of Playground.
Now that they were done, it was finally time for the main show.
