Chapter 240 240: Part 1: The State Of The Colony
Cole and everyone else idly watched Tehilla working as she moved about, swearing and complaining and cursing. It was obvious she was vexed beyond all reasonable doubt. It has been a day since they took the colony, and while some of the miners had tried to put up a fight, which was cute, they had been mercilessly put down or injured and the arrested. This time it was obvious to all of them that there would be no escaping, killing or plotting against the new bosses.
The reason though why Tehilla was In such a foul mood was because the colony itself was sitting on a lot of money. According to her charts, whatever the fuck that was and the logs from the Colony's manifest. The Colony has been taking in 300k worth of deuterium every day, which were then stored in the Colony's storage facility. A storage Facility that had been filled to the brink some year and a half ago. Now there were cases, hundreds of them of unrefined deuterium lining the streets and in homes.
But even with all these deuterium, more than half of them were unaccounted for. As Tehilla had followed an elaborate paper trail to discover that the forewoman had been handling side deals of her own, selling deuterium on the black market, most especially to pirates. But it did not come as much of a surprise to discover that their biggest customers had been none other than the Black Market Bank. It surprised Cole, the Night family were not even considered a conglomerate worthy of global recognition, whether as a criminal organization or a business one.
They were local and functioned within Nigeria and it's colonies, with connections to the Us, China and Japan. But that was only though connections that they had made, not reputation or power. And get it was turning out that perhaps that tiny insignificant family was more powerful than even it's own members could possibly know. The Black Market Bank was an entity that could match any current government, and his bloody grandmother had a seat on that council and owned shares from it.
Either way the Forewoman had cut of transactions with official channels, only doing it once in a while to make it seem as if truly there really was nothing much coming from the asteroid belt, when in retrospect this was not true. Doing this saw her delivering a stipend to the previous owners. It was large enough that it did not raise any flags or alarms, but small enough that it was a drop in the ocean compared to what was available.
This method had enabled her to keep the colony in squalor and barely above in operations while her bank accounts swelled to ridiculous sizes. Tehilla had quickly seized her assets, and reported her even though she was now dead to every conceivable authority in existence that could deal with this issue. Then she had to begin the tedious job of reestablishing trade routes and deals with official channels. She had a boat load of deuterium sitting around and it was doing nothing but making the air toxic. Besides the money from all of this would have gone a long way in not just maintaining the colony but also expanding the damn thing and it's operations.
Either way the bottom line was that there would not be able to leave for the time being, at least until Tehilla has finished solving all of the problems that was within sight for her. Besides while it was getting a bit hard for her to make the deals she needs, mainly because of the misinformation that had come from this place, Tehilla would soon be sitting on a ridiculous like of money, enough that she would probably enter some sort of ranking list of wealthy people or something. Cole did not hesitate to quickly buy a share of her new mining company, a whooping 35% and for a pittance….. since it wasn't yet listed and was just registered the value of the company was not yet known in the stock market. Cole only spent 300 dollars to do so, but that was mainly because it was a deal between them, and 300 dollars was the amount she bought the dress that had been ruined by the rain the night Cole had left her and she had her accident.
To her it was a joke, a way to pole fun at their past, but for Cole it was a painful reminder. He spent the next three hours ordering her dresses and clothes worth 30 thousand credits. Not that she needed all of those clothes but…..it at least made him fell better, as he was bored and was not yet ready to log in, due to how weak his body has been feeling since Razor took his oath.
Never the less, things were going great, Tehilla had been taken with Cassandra for some reason, even more so when she discovered the woman graduated MIT at the top of her class and was an Aeronautical and Mechanical Engineer. With a masters in Biochemistry, which was pretty much how she had single handedly been able to keep her own son alive and hack into a bloody supernatural event with technology that was not built for it... the woman is dangerously smart, and Tehilla loves smart people.
It wasn't too hard after that to find a spot for Cassandra amongst Tehilla's staff. The woman herself was happy to get to work, and was gradually regaining the weight years of suffering had caused her to lose. Cole on the other hand did some research And studied as much as he could. It was taking his body some time to recover but he will be returning back to the 3rd floor the next day to begin work on his territory. With Tehilla working here, it was perhaps time for him to go build his own empire on the other side and see what other adventures there was to be had. He was ready, fully ready for the next step he had to take…. Time for some kingdom building shit!
