Chapter 176 Treatment
Aion checked the surroundings of the warehouse and confirmed that no one was there. Putting guards around would make things suspicious, but Aion didn't want to be careless now. After that, they landed on the ceiling of the Warehouse, and then he opened a hole in it with his magic. The interior was completely dark and dusty… if the man was telling the truth, then they must be underground.
After checking the interior by summoning a Fireball, Aion didn't find anything, and then he made the group land on the floor.
"We should do the talking here," Sauros said. "It is a pity, but we can't kill this guy and risk the start of a war. So, we can't let him hear your voice or see your face since you are more or less a public person of the Zaera kingdom."
That made sense, but it more or less felt a bit unnecessary. In any case, Aion put his hood on and hid his armor behind a cloak. He sure looked ominous like that… after that, Sauros slapped the merchant. Thanks to Richard, Aion didn't let appearances fool him anymore. While the target was someone in his thirties and well-built, he probably just got some muscles to scare people when doing business. Just like pretty women can make men buy more things when they are selling them, muscles tend to make people more fearful of the sellers.
In any case, it was hard to describe the face of the man due to the darkness and because half of it was swollen, and it got even worse after Seris slapped the guy to make him wake.
"Wake up, you son of a bitch… tell us where they are," Seris said when she saw the merchant opening his eyes.
The merchant was half asleep, but once his eyes adjusted to the darkness, he panicked a little upon realizing that he had become a prisoner and that he was in a dark place and alone.
"We are in the warehouse. Where are they?" Seris raised her voice.
It wasn't a good idea to shout at such a place, but no one could blame Seris. She was of the hot-blooded type who cared deeply about her allies, and that also could be described as being as noisy and unnerving in situations like that. Aion could understand that very well since he was even worse when his mother was on the line.
"... There is a secret entrance on the other side of the warehouse," The merchant said after gulping.
They didn't have time to waste, so his cooperation was really convenient. He really didn't want to get on their bad side, after all. The group dragged him to the other side of the warehouse, and he quickly pointed to a small fissure on the ground that had something like a doorknob. In the darkness of the night, it would be hard to see it, but not during the day. While Sauros was grabbing the guy by his collar, Seris hurried to open the entrance, and then Aion noticed the merchant suddenly grabbing his amulet with both hands… It was a magic item.
"Wait! Aion shouted.
It was too late, Seris opened the entrance, and then they heard the sound of metal colliding. Aion pointed his hands at the entrance and used all his magic to freeze the place. He did well in keeping the necromancer class equipped, and while he used all his mana to do that, he froze the entire place.
"It was a trap… this place was made to explode once it was opened… I can feel a weird smell, but it seems that your friends are there," Aion said. "Hurry up because they must die from the cold."
Sauros kicked the man in the head in hopes that he would forget about Aion's voice. He fell unconscious, though. While Sauros and Seris went to check on their friends, Aion decided to guard the place and recover his mana. At the same time, he checked the amulet of the unconscious merchant and then processed it.
Restoration Rune
A special rune that is able to heal the target several times a day.
It was a pretty good item… as expected of the power of money. Healing magic was hard to use, and that item could be cast it instantly, even if only a few times per day. In any case, Aion decided to take the shirt of man and tie him up with it. In the end, he ended up looking like a boar that was about to be put on fire to be cooked since his arms and legs were tied up together.
After a couple of minutes, Sauros and Seris returned while helping the prisoners to move… as expected, they had been tortured and even drugged. They barely were conscious… The kids were the ones in the worst state. They could die of blood loss at any moment… they weren't ready to travel back to the coast.
"I can heal their wounds, but recovering their blood is impossible," Aion said.
"Please… just buy us enough time to bring them to the ship, we have supplies to help them there," Sauros said.
Aion sighed. Escaping will be even harder with those guys in that critical condition. While Aion could carry everyone on the platform, the cold wind of the night will sap the last parts of their strength.
Once Aion began to work, those two couldn't help but frown. He had enough mana to heal everyone and clean their wounds as well. The wounds were closed almost instantly. They knew that the Mirelis royal family had some crazy magic power, but healing magic had never been their strength. So, that wasn't something he inherited from others.
When Aion made his water magic get rid of the drugs in their systems, he began to meditate again. He had an idea of what they could do, but he would need mana to pull that off. He always needs…
