The Return of the God Level Assassin

Chapter 1165: IS HE YOUR FIANCÉ?

WHAT Su Yuqi said caught Luo Yan's attention. "You know their captain personally, Sister Yuqi?"

"Yeah. He's a student of my father," Su Yuqi answered. "Like some sort of disciple."

From what Luo Yan remembered, Su Yuqi's father was like a national level artist. If the captain of team Fenghuang was his disciple, then the other must also be a painter of some sort.

"He's not only Uncle Su's disciple, I heard the elders of the Su family are pushing for marriage between him and Su Yuqi," Bai Ze suddenly added.

Everyone, except Shen Ji Yun, turned to Bai Ze after his comment. Their faces displayed a range of reactions. Su Yuqi glared at him with obvious displeasure, while Luo Yan looked mildly shocked. Luo Jin, on the other hand, appeared completely drained, as if the life had been sucked out of him.

"Are you going to marry someone, Pink Sister?" Eclipse suddenly asked.

His question struck Luo Jin like a nail to the heart, leaving him feeling even more crushed and defeated.

"No, I'm not," Su Yuqi said to Eclipse before turning to Bai Ze and giving him a cold smile. "If you don't want me to personally ensure you can't speak for the rest of the day, I'd suggest you stop talking."

"What? It's not like I'm making things up," Bai Ze retorted, attempting to sound unfazed.

Su Yuqi rolled her eyes. "Right, because you're not at all like a gossiping housewife obsessing over the new, young, pretty neighbor."

Annoyed by the comparison, Bai Ze glared at Su Yuqi. "You--"

While the two bickered, Luo Jin remained in a state of shock, still processing what he'd just heard from Bai Ze. It triggered a memory from the time at the museum when Ning Feng's name came up. He recalled the palpable tension between Su Yuqi and her cousin, as if her cousin strongly disapproved of the idea of Su Yuqi being involved with Ning Feng.

Back then, Luo Jin hadn't paid much attention. His mind was completely consumed with how he would confess to Su Yuqi, and because of that, he overlooked such an important clue. Now, he was kicking himself for his carelessness.

He turned to Su Yuqi, unaware that his expression resembled someone who had just been abandoned by the person they loved. His voice wavered slightly as he asked, "Is he really your fiancé?"

Su Yuqi, still in the middle of her argument with Bai Ze, paused and turned to Luo Jin. Noticing his pained expression, she flicked his forehead lightly and said in an incredulous tone, "How did anything Bai Ze said lead you to that conclusion?"

Luo Jin held his forehead, looking even more aggrieved. "But Brother Ze said that the elders of your family wanted him to marry you--"

"Exactly! The elders, not me." Su Yuqi raised her brow at him. "Do you think I will marry Ning Feng just because they said so? This is not ancient times. Not to mention me, my father would definitely not agree."

Luo Jin felt a wave of relief wash over him as her words sank in. Right. This wasn't ancient times—Su Yuqi didn't have to follow the whims of her family's elders. Just as she said, she wouldn't let herself be forced into something like that. And besides, her father wouldn't allow it either.

"You fool. Just what are you thinking in that head of yours?" Su Yuqi said. Although she tried to sound like she was scolding Luo Jin, anyone could hear the pampering in her voice. She probably wasn't even aware of it.

Luo Yan saw this and smiled inwardly. Well, it seemed that Luo Jin's feelings were not so unrequited after all.

Watching his brother, who quickly apologized and then adopted a determined expression, it was clear he was set on not losing to Ning Feng in tomorrow's semi-final match.

Good. Because he was also very determined to win.

"Alright, let's get back on track and start discussing our strategy for tomorrow's match," Shen Ji Yun said, steering the conversation back to the original topic.

Everyone stopped, and they began discussing again what needed to be discussed.

After the quarter-finals, opinions online about the four matches that were held varied widely. Some fans thoroughly enjoyed the matches, appreciating the unique challenges and strategies that emerged from the 'Amazing Race' theme. They found the race dynamics refreshing, adding an extra layer of excitement and unpredictability to the competition. The fast-paced nature and diverse environments kept them engaged, as it forced players to adapt quickly and think on their feet.

On the other hand, there were those who felt that the theme fell flat, calling it repetitive and lacking the intensity they expected from such a high-stakes round. These viewers missed the traditional combat-focused matches and believed the 'Amazing Race' theme took away from the core competitive spirit. Many of them voiced that they preferred watching tactical battles or skillful displays of strength over what they saw as a glorified obstacle course. Some even went as far as to call it an obvious 'foreigner bait'.

This division of opinions sparked a heated debate across forums and social media, with some praising the innovation and others calling for a return to more classic match formats in the future.

In any case, the Arcadia Cup remained a hot topic, trending not just domestically but internationally as well. The stunning locations featured in the matches particularly captivated foreign viewers. They marveled at the magical and immersive environments, each area offering a unique sense of wonder. Many expressed their excitement online, eagerly anticipating the chance to explore these breathtaking places for themselves.

At least in that regard, Moonlight Media had accomplished its goal. They could now be confident that the international demand for VR helmets would surge, thanks to the quarter-finals matches. After all, boosting global sales was exactly what the quarter-finals were designed to achieve in the first place.

With that, the day drew to a close, and soon, a new one dawned. The highly anticipated semi-finals of the Arcadia Cup were about to begin.
