Chapter 177 – Well… mostly worry about my own [lack of] self-control (3)
Luckily, it was proven that Yan Shuyu had overthought this. Zhang Yuanjia analyzed it for her. “Because Mommy woke me up last night. You must have been very happy.”
Recalling her action last night, Yan Shuyu quickly apologized. “I’m sorry. Mommy won’t wake you up next time.”
Zhang Yuanbao shook his head and said, with a bit shyness, “Yuanbao likes it when Mommy does that.”
Yan Shuyu recalled how she had woken him up the night before. She pinched his little cheek a little and teased. “Wow. You are a boy. Do you like these touchy-feely acts too?”
Embarrassed, Zhong Yuhuan threw himself inside his mother’s arms, but he was pulled back out by his mother. The two of them looked at each other face to face, and Yan Shuyu asked in all seriousness, “Yuanbao, how do you think Mommy look today?”
The little kiddo blinked and studied her attentively for a while before he started on his usual flattery. “Mommy’s very pretty today. Mommy is the most beautiful mommy in the world.”
Even though he said that every day, Yan Shuyu was still uncertain. “Prettiest today?”
“No,” said Zhang Yuanbao loudly. “Mommy is the prettiest every day!”
Meaning that she was just as pretty as any other day and that there was nothing special about today? Feeling reassured, Yan Shuyu patted her son on his shoulder and said, “That’s what I say, I am so pretty every day~”
She then turned back around, grabbed her eye liner, and continued to apply makeup on herself.
Yan Shuyu had to work this afternoon and she had already made arrangements to drop off the little kiddo at the musical institution. Zhang Yuanjia would stay there for 3~4 hours. He’d have plenty of time to practice his piano. Yan Shuyu didn’t want him to overdo it, so she didn’t have him practice at home that morning.
After breakfast, she happily applied makeup on herself, and the little kiddo had nothing to do. He didn’t watch TV or play any video games. He just sat there docilely next to his mother and watched her apply makeup without blinking.
Seeing how the little kiddo was so enchanted by her beauty, Yan Shuyu’s make-up application went even smoother than usual.
After watching his mother attentively for a little while, the little kiddo seemed to have recalled something else. “Mommy, why were you particularly happy last night?”
“What an interesting use of ‘particularly’.” All Yan Shuyu had left was her lipstick and she’d be done. She put away her makeup as she calmly gave him the reason that she had prepared ahead of time. “I was happy for you.”
The little boy blinked cutely at her. “Was it because this will be Yuanbao’s first class with Instructor Lin and Instructor Liu?”
Yan Shuyu paused for a second before she carried on naturally. “That is part of it. Uncle Zhou invited you to go on a playdate with Xiao Zhou Yi this morning. You were already asleep, so Mommy accepted the invitation for you.”
Zhang Yuanjia had played with Zhou Yi two or three times. He was friendly to him at the beginning mostly out of his fondness for Uncle Zhou. But, he must admit that this new friend of his was smart and not noisy. He enjoyed hanging out with him more than the others at the kindergarten. Plus, separation made the hearts grow fonder. The fact that he only saw him once or twice a month definitely made him grow fonder of him.
Hearing his Mommy’s words, Zhang Yuanjia’s face lit up. “That’s awesome! Where are we going?”
“I don’t know.” Yan Shuyu suggested with some anticipation. “Would you like to talk it over with little Zhou Yi?”
“Can I?” The little kiddo had barely finished talking before Yan Shuyu couldn’t wait to pull her cellphone out. “Of course. Do you want to voice chat him or video chat?”
Little kiddo Zhang Yuanbao blinked. He felt something was off about his mother today, but he couldn’t quite put his fingers on it. Finally, he said quietly, “Video chat.”
That was what Yan Shuyu was hoping he’d pick as well. She said with a bright smile, “Okay. Little Zhou Yi is probably with his dad right now. Let me call up your Uncle Zhou first.”
As she was talking, she quickly opened up WeChat and that’s when she saw the two unread messages from the boss. They were “I am home” and “Good night.”
As she had been single for too long, Classmate Yan Shuyu, who was once a severe cellphone addict, hadn’t been too attached to her cellphone lately. Which was why she hadn’t seen the messages until now.
Seeing the unread messages from the boss did not provoke any shame from her. In fact, they made her happy. She was able to make the boss send her multiple messages. What charm she had!
Yan Shuyu proudly sent over the video chat request. As much as little kiddo Zhang Yuanbao felt that his Mommy was a bit off today, thinking about Uncle Zhou whom he hadn’t seen for a while, he was still pretty excited. Docilely, he stood next to his mother. Both the mother and the son stared at the screen on the cellphone.
