The Gamer's System

Chapter 156: Developing Strategies

Chapter 156: Developing Strategies

"There are various points that we need to discuss and I'll run them down to you, as well as the solutions to them." Sylph began.

The lights of the meeting hall was closed. Just like the meetings held by Zeke, the elites were given a crystal each which was only to be used whenever they wanted to ask something.

"I'll also entertain your questions. For that, well use the same method employed by Zeke." She noted, getting nods of agreement from the group.

"Right then, let's begin."

Sylph started off by showing the rift area to the group once again. This is used through the [Minimap] of Zeke's [Gamer's System]. A feature which they were able to make use of because, they were linked to him through the [Party] function. The [Minimap], in turn, is connected to the crystal in the middle of the table which enabled it to be projected as much larger and, even convert it to a 3D model.

"This is how the map looked like before we did anything." Sylph began.

"I want you to focus on this map." She said, zooming in on the rift which showed them nothing more than a violet-colored area. This meant that, it was covered entirely by the [Chaos Poison Cloud].

"Aft first, this was the dilemma that we had. Even with the [Minimap] turned on, we had zero visibility and nothing could be more problematic than this. In any fight, information is always crucial for victory and so is the understanding of the terrain. That's why, even with the masks on, I didn't allow you guys to just jump in." She said, changing the map to the recent one created through the joint efforts of everyone.

"This, on the other hand, is how it looked like after we began attacking it. As you can observe, there are a lot areas that have been revealed due to the [Cloud] clearing skills used. But more importantly, it was because of your teammate's eyesight that we now have a comprehensive version of the map." Sylph said, placing all credits on Amare.

"Anyway, even with a part of the terrain figured out, we still need to discuss how the things inside actually look like. For his part, I'm giving your scout the rights to speak on my behalf." She continued, recognizing Amare's role as the female elite stood up.

"There were corpses on the parts that were opened up by the wind spells and Kaguya's [Oblivion]. I was also able to see that there seems to be a river which had polluted and even bubbling liquid inside. In my opinion, it doesn't seem like a good place to get near."

"That river was probably formed due to some crack on the ground or something. The bottom of the rift is already deep enough to be sunk underwater after all." Sylph added before motioning for Amare to speak again.

'Apart from this, there are geysers but, I have no idea if these are active since, it was only for a moment that I saw them. Oh and there were lots of cracks on the ground and something was glowing underneath, I also think that it would be dangerous to get near that."

"Thank you for the input." Sylph said, motioning for Amare to sit down which she gladly did.

"So you see, aside from the monsters, we also have to be careful about the terrain. No matter how powerful you are in a fight, if you fail to put that into consideration, then you'd simply put yourself at a very disadvantageous situation. We need to create a clear map of the area, that's the only way we can assure the type of attacks and spells that could be used."

Sylph then further proved her point. She didn't want to hear any more complaints nor questions about this so she took the full liberty of presenting some examples.

"Explosions near the river would probably be dangerous because the liquid may splash on some of you. The liquid, as Amare described, would definitely bring some negative effects on them. I mean, that's kinda obvious because it is dipped on [Chaos Poison]."

"Also, attacks that could create larger cracks on the earth are not allowed. This is because, they might destroy the whole structure altogether. I'm also a bit worried about those small cracks which Amare mentioned. If it had a glow on it then two things could come from them, something dangerous or something that could further strengthen you guys. But it's still safer to bet on the former and not meddle with it anymore." A crystal glowed during this time.

"But what if we clear it out first from all threats? We can harvest whatever it is that's lying beneath right?" Quinn asked and Sylph didn't like this line of thinking.

"Probably, but we'd need Amare's eyesight for that. But even if we do confirm that it is useful, taking the item might still be dangerous because it is underground. The cracks could easily get larger and, an earthquake may even be roused." Sylph said.

"So that's a no?" He asked.

"We'll see after all of this is done Quinn." Sylph said in reply.

"The geysers are to be avoided as well as the corpses." Sylph added, not leaving any room for Quinn to ask anymore. But then, another crystal glowed.

"Why do we need to avoid the corpses exactly?"

"you could've waited for me to explain that part at least." Sylph said.

"Anyway. That's because they are indicators on where it is most deadly. Those things died even though they thrived inside that area meaning, locations near them would be life threatening. Of course, you can choose to get near if you're that curious."

"Then what about those that we've jus killed? Won't they make the location marking difficult since they'd also turn to corpses?"

"Honestly, do I need to explain everything?" Sylph said in reply feeling a slight headache forming.

"Through the [Minimap] option, coupled by the combination we've done earlier on, we can easily locate all the old corpses marked on the map. Those that you killed won't decompose in a single day so don't fret about it. Plus, we're still a long way from the goal." She continued.

It was true though. The area, despite being underground, was spacious. It almost stretched as large as three capital cities combined and, this was probably because, it wasn't a hidden area before but something on the surface. But since the waters have also risen, it naturally turned into an underground and hidden area.

"Now is there anything else you'd like to ask before I proceed?" Sylph said, but this time around, the whole group was silent.

"One thing I noticed is that the monsters don't come out no matter how many times we kill them. That was also the reason why I came in closer to the mist. I wanted to check if they just couldn't find any direction or, if they simply couldn't; outright come out. And you saw the results, right?" She exclaimed, with the whole group finally comprehending her recent actions.

"This means that their life is somehow bound to the mist and that makes things easier for us. We can simply wipe them out using the method that we employed earlier on. And this time, there's no need to hold back. We'll be clearing the area of all visible monsters. After which, we will proceed to retrieving the corpse."

"Hey Quinn, she's actually better than you huh?" Jake actually sat beside Quinn, wanting to tease and disturb their leader. He finally found this opportunity with all the details discussed by Sylph.

"Oh, shut up will you Jake." Quinn said in reply.

"No murmuring while we're on meeting please." Sylph noted, not tolerating the small chit chat of the two.

"Anyway. There may also be highly intelligent monsters within that area who are in charge of commanding the mobs. If that's the case, then we may still need to fight once we head down as these monsters might just hide from us. But I'm more than a hundred percent certain that we'd be able to handle those." Sylph said.

"You still need to be cautious of them of course. Monsters with high intelligence are more dangerous after all." She said, remembering the fight with Heron and Morpheus who are both categorized as monsters.

"Anyway, let's put all those things aside for now. We need to focus on finishing the map and destroying the visible enemies first. Give me a yes ma'am if we're clear."

"Yes ma'am."

"Okay, with that I'll need a rundown of all your skills and abilities. Aside form the data given, I could get a clearer view of your skills when we engage in combat. So, we'll be having sparing sessions one day from now."

"Won't that delay the mission?"

"It wont. In fact, were making the mission progress faster and safer by doing this. As your Tactician, it is my job to utilize each and every one of you to your full potentials. Having all the data given to me is good and all but, your actual performances in a fight would give me a better comprehension on what you can and cannot do." Sylph continued, which the elites also found to be reasonable.

"Plus, I'm guessing that you still need a better grasp of your weapons, right? So fighting against me would help a lot in that, I can even give you pointers on how to use your weapons properly." Sylph further explained.

"I'm guessing that's all?" Sylph asked in order to confirm and, with nobody raising their concerns anymore, the meeting finally ended.

"You can rest now. I'm looking forward to our sparring session." Sylph said, seeing the elites leave the room one by one.
