Chapter 95: I Like You So Much (3)
On the fifth day.
That night, Chen Shu only drank a little porridge and sat back next to Ye Sui.
As with every previous day, Chen Shu checked whether the quilt covered Ye Sui or not and whether there was any trace of movement.
Chen Shu took Ye Sui’s hand and leaned over to look at her face, which he had seen countless times. Her features were deeply imprinted in his heart.
Ye Sui’s eyelashes moved slightly and quivered.
Chen Shu stiffened and stared at Ye Sui’s face. He called out tentatively, “Ye Sui?”
As if she had heard Chen Shu’s call, Ye Sui’s hand in Chen Shu’s palm moved slightly, her nails pricking at his skin.
Chen Shu knew that it was really this time, not an illusion.
Ye Sui opened her eyes groggily and met Chen Shu’s gaze. Her bright eyes were exhausted at the moment. Despite her sickly appearance, she was still beautiful.
When she saw Chen Shu, she tried to speak and opened her mouth, but her throat was too dry to make any sound at all.
“Doctor!” shouted Chen Shu to the outside, but he didn’t dare leave Ye Sui’s bed.
Chen Shu took Ye Sui’s hand, not wanting to let go. He was afraid that if he let go, she would close her eyes again like before and lie on the bed without moving.
Chen Shu rang the bell, and the doctor immediately rushed over.
The doctor examined Ye Sui briefly and would do detailed tests later. “There’s nothing too wrong with your body, but you still need to recuperate from your injuries.”
After making sure that Ye Sui had completely regained consciousness, Chen Shu’s heart, which had been stuck in his throat for a few days, finally relaxed.
Only then did Chen Shu let go of Ye Sui’s hand. His palm was already sweating with nervous, happy, celebratory, and other mixed feelings.
Ye Sui leaned on the hospital bed as Chen Shu fed her a few cups of warm water. The water slid through the throat, relieving her thirst.
After Ye Sui could speak, she called Chen Shu by his name, “Chen Shu.”
Because she hadn’t spoken for a long time, Ye Sui’s originally soothing and beautiful voice became hoarse, and her throat ached.
“I’m here.” Chen Shu sat by Ye Sui’s bed and locked eyes with her. He took a look at her hand, touching her fingers gently to make sure what he saw was real.
Ye Sui laughed helplessly. “I’m fine already.”
The wound on her body was still hurting, and Ye Sui could feel the marks left by the car accident on her body. The pain reminded her that she had returned to the real world.
The door to the ward was pushed open, and Yan Lan walked in quickly, tears falling uncontrollably. “Ye Sui.”
Ye Sui squeezed out a smile. “Mom, don’t worry, I’m fine now.”
They had all waited too long for this moment.
Wang Chuan and the others also came, and after seeing Ye Sui safe, they gave each other a wink and left. Yan Lan closed the door with him, leaving the room for the couple.
It was already night.
Ye Sui looked at Chen Shu. This was not her hallucination. Chen Shu was indeed sitting safely in front of her.
Those earlier scenes were still floating in her mind. Chen Shu would suffer a big disaster, which would happen before he was thirty. Now, had he escaped the crisis?
Ye Sui had been in a coma for a long time, and her mind was heavy. After leaning for a while, her thinking cleared.
What the fortune-teller said was still ringing in her ears: a life for life. Did her narrow escape from death verify her words?
After Ye Sui woke up from the coma, the first person she thought of was Chen Shu.
In the silent ward, Ye Sui and Chen Shu locked gazes, thinking about each other.
Ye Sui still remembers what she had said to Chen Shu before the accident. She lowered her eyes and whispered, but what she didn’t expect was...
The two spoke at the same time, “You remember, before the accident...”
They were both stunned, their eyes unconsciously meeting. They both seemed to have guessed what the other party wanted to say. Ye Sui quickly looked away and pursed her lips, waiting for Chen Shu to speak first.
Chen Shu stared at Ye Sui and said softly, “At that time, I was ready to confess to you.”
Ye Sui was startled. She curved her lips and looked up at Chen Shu. “Me too.”
