The Earth After Rebirth

Chapter 453 One Last Gift

If it wasn't a life or death situation Kiro might have told them off. He loved his own space, not that the land was small, no it was in abundance. Enough to house everyone here, even the otherworldly people. He just thought it would be crowded, giving them no space to train.

"Don't worry about it, I'll expand the land. You'll have plenty of space to train, we all will." Hiro reassured him.

He had no idea how he knew what he was thinking but he wasn't going to ask.

"So what happened? With your father?"

"They took down the mine, rescued the people who were being forced into slavery and unfortunate my dad and Isla's dad got caught. The others were able to get away though."

"But are they alright? Are they alright?" The concern in his voice was evident, he didn't have a father anymore and Sekani was the only father figure in his life.

Kiro was tempted to tell him to go watch the video circulating already online but with how concerned he seemed he decided to be truthful.

"We got them out, they're fine. A little banged up but they're fine." He turned to Nikolai. "Shouldn't you be resting?"

"I'm needed here."

Felix was angry at him for going off on his own, they lived together so it was awkward out there he wanted to be in here, where the distance between him and Felix was filled by crowds of people.

Kiro looked at him solemnly, he had lost his father, bad as he was, he was still his father. He completely misunderstood the situation, thinking Nikolai wanted to be around people to not think about the father that died before his eyes.

"You're right, you are."

There wasn't a chance to say anything else before they could feel the update happening in real time. Things were disappearing, the world was changing before their very eyes. The ground shook violently causing some people to lose their balance.

There was a purple light piercing through the rain clouds that clustered the entire sky of Asgard and for a moment they dispersed to make way for what was coming.

[This wasn't part of the update, only my gift to you. Good bye.]n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

Kiro couldn't help but feel that the system of Asgard was Kronos himself and he was dying as he gave them the last gift to fight to live. He felt sad that he wouldn't be able to say his goodbyes face to face.

They were strangers but this was one person whom had his back countless times, making sure he succeeded every step of the way, so the lump that rose to his throat as he stood watching the purple light was understandable. Experience exclusive tales on empire

It wasn't long before he understood what the light was, it was Kaos. The magic wouldn't have been enough to fight off the hoards, Kaos on the other hand was a godly power, capable of defeating gods if used right.

Since he was already using it, the light went everywhere else but himself. People were screaming and dying but luckily their levels weren't being affected.

This was due to the fact that the game was still undergoing the update, a plan by Kronos to ensure that those given this power of Kaos, were able to withstanding its aggressive nature through dying over and over again, so that they didn't lose their sanity to the energy.

The screams around him were relentless and loud, he used vibrations to mellow out the sound. He didn't want to move much since the system told them to stay put while the update was ongoing.

That was another reason, another was the fact that Kronos was using his last power to give to everyone here. They didn't spend much time together but it still hurt him somehow, like there was a tiny part of him that was dying too.

"I'll make you proud, even if it kills me, I'll do it. That is my promise and my gift to you, thank you." He sniffed and wiped his eyes dry, looking around he was glad no one was conscious enough to pay attention to him.

"What now master?" Hubris asked, he wasn't affected by what was going on.

"Now? Break ourselves in teams. It won't be long before the harbingers use the rift being opened. Each team will have a beast I've trained and tamed. Most important I should send back my Spectres for now, they're not entirely useless but there is nothing they can about the oncoming war, they're good for gathering information and we already have that in abundance.

"I'll send them back to your world, I don't want them getting hurt. I've grown attached to them a little bit too much. Maybe after the war, after we've won, maybe Asgard will go back to being a game and only then will I take them back."

Hubris hadn't expected Kiro to break into a long monologue but he knew better than to interrupt his master while he was seemingly planning.

"Yes, that's right. Each team should have at least two of everything, tankers, damage dealers, long range attackers, healers and a single beast. Yes this is much more effective. Each guardian will be leading their own team, I know you'll want to be by my side Hubris but I have a more important task for you.

"I dont know how team will be decided, I don't want to be a dictator to them so I'll give everyone a shot to make suggestions. If it happens that I'm not on the same team as LJ or Loki I'll need you to be on their team to protect them.

I told Loki he couldn't be on the front lines and I think he heard me, he probably will be too busy making weapons to fight but LJ is a long ranged fighter, that's where you'll be."

Hubris didn't like it at all but he agreed. The only person he thought deserved his protection was the man standing in front of him.

"I know you don't like it but this is important. We're almost of equal strength, being on the same team will serve no great purpose. We don't know what will happen if we die once the update is finished."

Hubris nodded and growled in response, completely defeated.
