The Devil's Sweetheart

Their eyes met across the crowded room. Like movies, Kyle didnot share a knowing smile. Instead, she examined him with her steely eyes. Kurt was the first one to break the contact while he couldn't stand those captivating eyes. What's happening to me? They are just eyes. Since the housewarming party when she called him cute, it has taken effect on him. Kurt brushed the unfamiliar emotions aside. 

He was doing well when she went to meet Harley at the hospital yesterday, and just in a day, he went sick? Kyle's eyes darted to the man next to him. A giant was standing with a smile on his face. Something is fishy with these two.

''Doctor Kyle, at last, you have come?'' Kyle jolted out of her thoughts when her fellow Doctor Lever whispered into her ears. ''Do you know him? This patient is creating lots of trouble. He called me Doctor pancreas and Doctor Kidney.''

''I can hear your voice,'' Kurt said. ''Is it my fault that you named yourself a human Organ?''

''Sir, my name is L.E.V.E.R. Not Liver,'' She enunciated each letter crisply.

''Whatever.'' He scoffed. ''Both sounds same.''

He hates girls but has a knack for bullying girls. He called me a loose case which is worse than pancreas and Kidney. If Kyle had shared it with Lever, she would be satisfied, but she doesn't want to give that satisfaction, ''Don't mind him. He is one spoiled rich chaebol. Go out. I will take care of him,'' She whispered in a muted tone.

''Gladly. Nobody wants to stay in his presence.'' Giving the man an austere look, to which she got a scowl in response from Kurt. She left, taking along the nurse with her.

At last, the room was left with Kurt, Kyle, and a man who has not left Kurt's side. Is she Landon's girlfriend? The giant thought, How did she fall for that nasty bummer? She is so beautiful. ''I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Clemence.''

Kyle smiled as acknowledgment and turned to the man who was lying on the bed lazily. ''What health issue you got?'' She questioned as she marched towards Kurt. He is as strong as a bull, and she felt funny imagining Kurt here. How does he look in a hospital gown? 

''A wound in his chest.'' The giant answered instead. ''But not a biggie.''

''Doesn't he have a voice?'' She asked and leaned forward to remove Kurt's shirt buttons, and in the last moment, before she reached for the front button, Kurt pushed her away frantically and screamed at her. ''Hey, loose case. W_hat are you doing? I don't like this behavior.'' If not for his fast reflexes, he would have lost his sanity. This loose case always tries to take advantage of him.

''You are talking about my behavior?'' She mocked at herself, enraged by his actions. ''I am a doctor. How am I suppose to examine the wound?'' She cross-questioned. ''You don't want to get treated by any doctor other than me, and now you will not let me examine your wound. Are you expecting me to do some magic and cure your wound?'' Kyle shouted, causing Kurt to close his ears. Argh! She has a very loud mouth. Louder than Andrew.

''Silence is the virtue.'' Clearing his thorat, the giant came in between the two to stop the fights. But, unfortunately, the beautiful Doctor also has a point. ''Let me talk to Sir in private'' The giant then addressed Kurt in a whisper when Kyle moved to the corner, giving them a private space. '' She is doing her duty as a doctor. I know you hate women but bear with it for some days. We cannot miss this opportunity which we planned meticulously. We have already discussed this before coming here.''

''Fine, but you have to stick to me,'' Kurt spoke up in a hushed tone. This hospital is full of women's herd, which is scaring him. His office is the best where he rarely sees the woman. 

''Roger that, sir!'' He saluted in military-style.

For Kyle standing at a little stretch away, Kurt and the giant actions looked like both were nibbling their ears. She wondered what on the holy earth they were talking about until the giant turned and threw an apologetic smile at her. ''You can examine Sir's wound now.''

By the time Kyle reached the hospital bed, Kurt had opened the shirt buttons lessening her burden. As a doctor, she had seen the number of human bodies, and she was used to it, but her hands slightly trembled as he held Kurt's shirt for the first time. Is it nervousness? 

When Kyle leaned forward, the scent of her shampoo, which wafted into the air, caught his nose. Kurt's brain shut down for a second, and unconsciously, his hand slightly lifted to touch her silky locks, but in the last second, he jerked it off when she heard Kyle's voice.

''Are you for real, Kurt? Did you expect me to treat this wound?'' Her jaw dropped to the floor, seeing the wound on his chest. An invisible would which she can't even spot. It looked like a wound made by a dartboard pushpin. For an F.B.I. agent, a gunshot would even is not a big deal, and he has created a scene for such a minor wound?

 ''It doesn't require medication. Soon, it will fade off. You can go home.'' Kyle said. He must have come here to treat her a fool.

''Wound is a wound, Doctor. Don't judge it by the size,'' The giant added. ''It can cause infection also.''

''Exactly. It's my wish to stay here.'' Kurt supported. ''I have paid for this room for the entire week. For the seven days' stay, you will be my chief Doctor.''

A week for getting treated for a wound? Now Kyle doubted he had come here with an ulterior purpose. He must have visited this hospital on a mission. But who is the target? As far as she knows, the hospital doesn't have any big shots at present. She will let the matter aside and keep quiet. Is this the reason he wanted to get treated only by me? So, he is trusting me.

 ''Do whatever you want.'' She turned on her heels to leave. However, a smile returned on her face without any effort as she made her way to the cabin. His presence is affecting her quite a lot. Kyle expected it to be Landon, but her heart is swaying in a different direction. Is it good? Obviously no. 

With only two of them in the hospital room, the giant scanned the room and the bathroom for a suspicious item and returned to the room. ''Everything is clear, Sir. Your one-week presence here will be treated as secret.''

''Good.'' Kurt nodded.

 ''Do you think the Doctor is suspecting us?'' The giant asked.

''No doubt in that.'' Kurt shrugged, leaning back on the headboard. With the eensy-weensy wound on his chest, not only her, any doctor would get suspicious. That's the reason he didnot let any doctor near him until Kyle arrived. Kurt deliberately made a petite wound on his chest, giving Kyle a chance to guess his motives.

''Then, if we start interrogating about Landon, she will catch our act.'' The giant said.

''We are not interrogating about Landon,'' Kurt said. ''We will only plant a seed of doubt in her mind.'' The whole concept of Kurt coming here was to manipulate Kyle's thoughts. Once the doubt arises in her mind, Kurt has a plan to strike.

''And she will believe? He is her boyfriend. Her loyalty lies to him,'' The giant said. 

''Her relationship with Landon is hanging over the hinges. It may break at any time.'' Watching the confused expression on the giant face, Kurt explained. ''I have been tracking Kyle's calls for the past two days.'' The day he dropped her at home, Kurt suspected Landon's strange behavior and began trapping Kyle's phone calls. It's not only for mission purposes, he wanted to make sure she is safe from that criminal. That man is no good, and that loose case doesn't know anything happening behind him. Kurt felt like he has taken up the task of protecting her as well along with this mission.

Kurt's suspicion was confirmed with yesterday night's phone call. In between their fight, he learned the truth behind keeping bodyguards around Kyle. At some point in time, Kurt felt pity for Kyle for having an overbearing boyfriend. Her cries somehow inflicted him yesterday. It's not even a month they started dating, and it is already on the verge of collapsing. 

''The doctor deserves better, Sir.'' The giant voiced his thoughts. ''She seems to be a nice girl.''

Kurt didnot respond. Indeed, that poor girl is innocent and deserves better.. Kurt doesn't want to admit that he wished Kyle to break up with Landon and start a new life before she goes deep into the relationship.
