Chapter 379 Response To The Unexpected Invitation
The white haired boy beside Nedra stared excitedly at the piece of paper in Leon's hands. He had been captivated by the magical message that had been delivered to Leon. His red eyes sparkled brightly as he pulled on Nedra's dress.
"Mother." He looked up at the mother figure that had kept him close since the beginning of his life.
"Yes, little one?" Nedra turned to the boy with a smile. His name was Hunter. Nedra gave him that name in the hopes that he will be a powerful hunter in the future when he grew up.
"I want to learn magic." Hunter voiced his thoughts out loud.
"Hmm." Nedra pursed her lips. The boy was only a couple of weeks old. If she had a say in it, she would have preferred him to become proficient in close combat before learning magic.
"It's fine, Nedra. It doesn't matter too much. With his growing conditions, we can make sure he excels." Leon spoke up when he read Nedra's thoughts.
She reluctantly nodded her head and offered Hunter a warm smile. The reason why she thought like this was quite simple. She was thinking in a rather old school manner. Back when Fort White was still a desolate and run down ruin, the Ghost Millipedes had been her all. Each one of them were physically strong. They learnt how to brute force their way through the Ghost Centipedes.
Now, the child she paid attention personally wanted to veer off that path and learn magic first before he learnt how to throw punches!
It took Leon's reminder for her to remember that things were not the same as before and allow Hunter to learn what he wanted first.
The little boy cheered while Leon fell into thought. He had a collection of basic theory books that had been given to him by Michael some time ago. He could give it to Hunter for the boy to learn from it.
While Hunter might seem like a little child at the moment, Leon remembered that he had only been a baby a bit more than a week ago. Who knew, in another week, he would probably be a teenager. And then after another, an adult. Perhaps his learning speed could keep up with his physical growth.
When he finished writing his reply on the letter, he was surprised to see it fold up and slip back into the envelope it came with. Then a translucent blue manifestation of a bird appeared and carried it, slowly flapping its wings in the air while looking around.
"Ah, a window." Leon realized it was looking for a way out. He got up and the bird turned to him, following him closely.
They were in Michael's temple, and this particular room did not have a window, so Leon led the bird out of the temple before watching it fly away into the sky.
When the bird vanished from his sharp sight, Leon called upon his elite summons. The various summons appeared before him one by one and expressed their greetings. Leon looked at his various A rank summons, from Low A rank to Peak A rank. He had managed to gather so many A ranks. Their numbers already surpassed two dozen. This was just the number of Undead summons. The ones he had from the various dungeons were not included in this number.
While a number of summons had broken through in the last battle, several others had broken through to A rank before that. They were mostly the Pseudo A rank summons from the Despair Dungeon and those that had been following him since Divinity's Bout.
Leon's combat power could be said to rival those of a top nation like the Gublin Empire. As for the Elven Empire on Rivera, Leon could not say. The Elves had been a steady nation that had been around for a very long time. They had even been a powerful presence since the Era of Gods. Their accumulation could be said to be so in-depth that not even Oceabal would be their match. But this argument was only valid in certain circumstances.
"We will be going to Rivera, the continent that holds the seat of the Elven Empire, soon. But I don't plan to take all of you with me. Some of you will remain here to ensure that things run smoothly and any matter that requires a show of force can be taken care of." Leon announced to his attentive summons.
"So now, those of you who want to come should step forward." Leon's eyes glittered under the afternoon sun.
A moment passed before several summons stepped forward. Leon's elite summons all stepped forward, which was not a surprise. He had already expected this.
However, aside from them, several others also stepped forward. Axel, the former human who had a surprisingly powerful and incredibly rare skill called Vector Manipulation, stepped forward. A newly advanced Lizardman, and a rather mundane looking black haired individual. The black haired man was one of the Undead Millipedes that had advanced to A rank.
Leon looked at the three unexpected individuals and asked a question.
"What made you decide to come with me?"
The summons looked among each other before Axel spoke first. "Before becoming one of your soldiers, I had always wanted to visit the continent of Rivera. For sight seeing purposes." He explained.
Next was the millipede. "My kin and I all want to serve you as best as we can. My kin believe they can further your interests by remaining here to hold down the fort, while I want to follow and fight for you, Master." The A rank millipede bowed from the waist as he explained.
Leon rubbed his chin and nodded. It was not news that the millipedes revered him above all else and their only line of thought most of the time was to do his bidding and fight on his behalf.
Last was the Lizardman. "I simply want to experience more things while I fight for you, Master." The lizardman said.
Just like the millipedes, all of Leon's summons were ingrained with the urge and desire to fight and do things on Leon's behalf. The lizardman was no different.
"Very well, then. We will leave soon. I am not yet sure of the exact date, but we shall see." Leon said with a smile and dismissed them.
