Chapter 349 Glorious Feast
Chapter 349 Glorious Feast
After the ceremony was over, the audience was automatically teleported back to their homes and offices. I thought that I could finally relax. However, God Zeshion dragged me around, moving from town to town and doing some introductions to each of the mayors.
I even saw a nostalgic face—Zen's father. He was shaking on his boots as he bowed before me, probably not expecting me to become king this fast.
Well, what else could I say? Neither did I!
Zen was, unfortunately, unable to appear before me. Apparently, after I gave him a taste of Fang's [Nightmare], he no longer dared to go out of their mansion's grounds. Whenever he did, he would bring along an entire regiment of their guards, just to keep his peace of mind.
When I told them to come to the banquet that would be held a little later, his face turned paler than that of a ghost. It was fun watching his expression change, but I'm not really bullying him. All the mayors are offered the same, so I just did what I needed to do.
We continued going from town to town until we completed visiting all of them.
After that, I also went around with Zeshion, inviting the heads of the intelligent monsters that I got help from during the election. There were the various dragon tribes, the harpies, the rabbit people, the dwarves, and the long-eared race.
For the dwarves, it wasn't that difficult to find them. After all, when flying about ten thousand meters in the air, the location of their forge was pretty easy to find. Well, at least in my eyes. It was fortunate that they were still within the kingdom during the election, so I managed to get their help in providing more votes for me.
The long-eared race just happened to be present near the position of the forge, and I had to give them help with Essence Crystals before I could gain their help. Other than votes, I also got their agreement to help the Seimei and Luo in times of need.
For the rest, it was a simple (or not) negotiation.
Anyway, after finishing the rounds for the towns and the settlements of the intelligent monsters, we finally returned to the Seimei grounds.
There, within the largest hall, thousands of high-ranking nobles, mayors, and tribe leaders were already gathered. The feast had already begun!
Of course, with how hard it was to move in my current attire, I decided to change first before joining everyone else. In truth, I simply wanted to skip the event and rest, but everyone around me refused to allow that.
Even the clothes I changed into needed to be coordinated by the maids.
In the end, I was forced to wear something like a prince's or an admiral's clothes. It was pure white, making it a little impractical knowing that I'd be going to eat, but apparently eating would be slated for later, after I finished greeting the thousands of guests one by one.
"I wonder how long that'll take..."
I sighed resignedly.
As I entered the dining hall, all eyes landed on me. In some cases, I could feel approval and adoration, while in others, I felt disgust and contempt.
It wasn't hard to guess which came from whom since there were nothing but nobles and other leaders at the venue. As if meeting a celebrity, one after another, the people in the venue started to come forward and shake my hand while exchanging a few words.
One step at a time, I started to walk further into the hall.
Shaking hands left and right, smiling while responding to their short congratulatory words. Honestly, it was extremely tiring. The only silver lining during the entire exchange was that nobody dared try to attack me sneakily.
I guess they were wary of the twelve pairs of eyes belonging to gods and goddesses spread around the venue. Zeshion and the others brought three of their tamed monsters along with them as they enjoyed the food.
Zeshion, together with Zeta, Eta, and Alpha. Blanc, together with Aerial and Kalib, still in their usual forms but a lot smaller, with a new monster I have no recollection of.
Ajax was seemingly alone, but I could see three invisible humanoid figures around him, partaking in the food silently. Vermeil, the last one, was together with three more girls who had the same outgoing aura as she had. They were seemingly enjoying chatting out loud, discussing their likes and dislikes of the food as they continued to devour everything.
Anyway, by the time that I finished greeting everyone, the time was already approaching midnight. The food that was served to the guests was already gone completely. Having no other choice, I went to my room and asked for someone to send me something to eat.
After I took out my crown, the cape, and then the thick outer clothes, I was finally able to breathe freely in peace. I lay down on the bed, face up, with my limbs spread wide, staring blankly at the ceiling as I waited.
"... I haven't even started yet, but I'm already regretting becoming king."
Karran and Millinda were both at the venue earlier, too. I expected them to resent me since I beat them, but far from that, they accepted my victory without any hard feelings at all.
Well, it's not like their views changed after losing once. Rather, the two were livelily trying to convert me to agree with each of their ideals. It was hard to slip away from them, really.
Soon, a knock came to the door. As it opened, the earlier maid came in while pushing a trolley filled with various foods.
Hungry for not having breakfast, lunch, and even dinner, I began eating like a hungry beast. Still, I've got to give the chefs a thumbs up since the dishes they cooked were all delicious without embellishment.
I don't know how long passed, but after I finished eating the main dish, I leaned on my bed and felt satisfied. Still, I kinda feel a little in the mood for dessert. I turned to the trolley, looking for anything that could be eaten as a dessert, sweets, or anything, but there was none.
I rang the small bell that came with the tray of food, calling for the maid's help once more.
"Can I ask for some dessert?"
Without asking what or how many, the maid quickly bowed her head and left along with the now-empty trolley.
It didn't even take a couple of minutes before another knock came on the door. However, unlike with the maid, the door didn't open even after I gave them permission.
Curious, I stood up from the bed, walked to the door, and opened it.
"... Fina?"
But the one standing before the door wasn't the maid, but rather Fina, Minerva, and Hekate. Fina smiled sheepishly, muttering in a cute voice.
"Your desserts have arrived~!"
