Chapter 563: Chapter 557: Fierce

“Invite him over.”

After a long time, Finn Lewis made his decision directly. Although there were top scientists like Gregory Worthington under his command, talent was still always in demand. Most importantly, Finn wanted to know, Nicolas Tesla had come up with too many, many wild ideas throughout his life, many of which he was unable to accomplish in his time, but he developed theories and research directions, and subsequently, all of these theories and research directions were proven to be correct. Even in modern times, some of the research ideas he proposed were not achieved.

So, Finn wanted to see, if Tesla was put in modern society, with such knowledge and foundation, what contribution could he make. Such a scientist should not live as wretchedly as he did in his previous life.

Moreover, when bringing Nicolas Tesla to modern times, Finn did not plan to deceive him, but was prepared to tell him the truth directly. The reason Finn dared to do this was that Tesla had made an outstanding contribution to the economic and technological development of the North Federation, but after his death, what the FBI had done was disgusting. Although many things were legendary, the FBI played disgraceful roles before and after Tesla’s death.

From this aspect, we can see how extraordinary Tesla was. You should know that he had basically finished this research in the early 20th century. Of course, there were some things that he could not do due to limitations. But the things that Tesla researched were done on a foundation of having nothing. During his research, nobody had proposed such theories, and nobody ever touched upon things like these before.

“I will go personally for this matter.” Finn took a moment to speak. Although others could invite Nicolas Tesla, Finn was not assured. The temporal coordinates were set for around 1884.

Now that the decision was made, Finn was prepared to go underwater for this mission. Truthfully, although Finn hadn’t been to this specific timeline too many times, the development within the timeline was well deviated from history.

But before setting off, there was someone Finn needed to see. After having lunch with Kay Lee, he finally said, “Kay, I might be busy again soon. I have a lot of matters that need to be handled. If you get bored during this time, do something with Ann, or directly invite them to the Moon of West Lake for a shopping spree.”

“Alright, I know, you go ahead. You’ve had enough rest. You’ve accompanied me for a long time, I’m quite satisfied.” Kay replied with a smile.

Finn left through the door around dinner time. The person he wanted to see wasn’t anyone else. She still lived in the house Finn bought for her. Truth be told, Finn found Emma Lewis somewhat troublesome. Finn couldn’t promise Emma anything nor could he marry her. But from start to finish, Emma had never complained nor did she initiate contact with Finn. After all this time, Finn couldn’t forget the one who gave him everything she had.

There were many times when Finn thought of Emma. Even though Finn did not reach out to her, primarily because he did not want to disrupt her life, Olivia Thatcher had been constantly looking into Emma’s life. She could also learn what Finn had been up to recently. She knew that Finn had been living with Kay recently. Emma had been feeling somewhat out of touch recently and had almost gotten into a car accident yesterday.

Standing downstairs, Finn felt conflicted. He wasn’t sure whether he should go up or not. Even though he didn’t go up, Finn knew what she was doing at this moment. She was sitting on the sofa, in a daze. She hadn’t even had dinner. Although she held the TV remote in her hand, she hadn’t changed the channel once and the TV was still running ads.

“Olivia, do you think I should go up?” Finn was indecisive, and Olivia was constantly feeding him real-time updates on Emma’s status.

“Master, even though I seem to possess human emotions, many of my emotions are results of data simulation and calculations. They are not true human emotions. I can’t experience or calculate many things and I don’t know whether you should go up or not at this time, Master. But there’s one thing I can tell you. If there’s a man pursuing her at this moment, would you be willing to accept it?” Olivia countered.

Would he accept it? He didn’t need to say it out loud. Finn took a deep breath and walked directly towards the stairwell. No matter how things ended up, given the current circumstances, Finn couldn’t just give up.

Finn quickly arrived outside Emma’s door. He took out a key from his pocket. Although she’d always said she wanted to change the lock on the door, the key Finn held easily unlocked it. He quietly pushed open the door and stepped in. Once he rounded the corner, he saw Emma sitting there, staring blankly in space. It seemed as though she sensed someone entering, as she suddenly turned her head, and once she saw it was Finn, she quickly turned her head in another direction and let out a “Humph.”.

Finn felt a bit helpless. He had a good understanding of this girl’s character. She was the type to suffer silently by herself, her heart suffering but her mouth proud.

Sitting down next to Emma, even before Finn could speak, she took the lead: “What are you doing here? Why aren’t you at home with Kay?”

“I came to see you.” Finn replied with resignation, anticipating the sarcastic retort from her next. This girl had a poisonous tongue. However, her words often didn’t match her thoughts. She longed to say, “Are you not satisfied by your wife at home, so you came to see me instead?”

But when the words reached her lips, they changed involuntarily: “I’m fine. You don’t have to worry.” Emma wanted to slap herself after she spoke. Her words were not consistent with the script at all.

Finn was taken aback, but he quickly understood. After a pause, he reached out and pulled Emma into his arms. Emma’s body stiffened, but soon, she began to slowly relax and moved closer to Finn.

Resting his head on Emma’s shoulder, Finn softly spoke, “I know I’m not a good person, but honestly, if you really wanted to leave, I think I would be very upset. However, I couldn’t stop you either. Yet, I still need to clarify this. I can’t give you anything, which I believe you know very well. But what I can tell you is, if you don’t give up on me, I won’t give up on you. Also, in the future, I will find a way to get Kay to accept you. Since this is something I brought upon myself, I will take responsibility for it. You don’t have to worry about this.”
