"Do you know her?" Huang Yu was the first to ask.

"She's waiting for me," Lin Shen said, indicating no animosity towards Huang Yu. Huang Yu's probing was a normal reaction that any person might have.

"Do you know her name?" Huang Yu continued.

"Yun," Lin Shen answered while taking out a small bottle of Base Mutation Fluid. With great care, he brought it to Yun's lips and poured it down her throat.

Huang Yu gave a slight nod, putting together Yun's earlier behavior, it seemed this man must be the one she was waiting for.

Huang Yu scrutinized Lin Shen, curious about what kind of man would be worth Yun's devoted wait.

He seemed nothing special, just a human male.

But the strong human male standing beside him stood out at first glance, with a distinctive aura that ordinary people could not feign.

There were many church-like buildings within the castle, and by entering these sanctuaries, one might come across an Ascension Egg before a divine statue.

Strangely enough, some would leave the churches empty-handed, while others entering the same church later might actually find an Ascension Egg.

Therefore, these churches were also considered Halls of Divine Selection, where only those chosen by God could find an Ascension Egg.

Of course, this was merely the foolish belief held by ordinary people.

Those who really understood the City of Beauty knew that to receive an Ascension Egg before the divine, one needed to possess three basic elements.

First was the attainment of crystal-grade Base Mutation completion, meaning a Base Mutation rate of a hundred percent, ready for Ascension at any moment.

Second was a handsome and beautiful appearance, though this standard was not easily defined since every race had its own criteria for beauty. However, the City of Beauty had its own way of defining beauty, which didn't necessarily fit everyone's aesthetics.

Therefore, individuals whom their race deemed attractive might not be acknowledged by the City of Beauty and could return empty-handed.

Third was sufficient strength; any Mutator could enter the City of Beauty on open days, but to enter the churches, one must have the strength to personally push open their grand doors.

Of course, there have been rare instances where those who didn't meet these three elements found Ascension Eggs before the divine.

The species of Ascension Eggs granted by the divine were almost unseen in the outside world, with unicorns—premium-speed Ascension Pets—as the most common.

Each year, there were also those who obtained Mutated Ascension Pets, and legend has it that someone once received a pet similar to an Angel.

There were many varieties of Ascension Eggs granted by the divine, yet all pets shared one thing in common: they were incredibly beautiful.

There were no ugly pets produced in the City of Beauty.

After being fed some Base Mutation Fluid by Lin Shen, Yun finally came to and, realizing she was being held by Lin Shen, quickly tried to struggle free.

"Don't move, you're too weak," Lin Shen sighed. "I told you to wait for me here, not to stay until you collapsed. Couldn't you have found something to eat or drink in the meantime?"

"I was afraid you'd come and not find me, thinking I didn't wait for you," Yun said timidly, without struggling further.

Lin Shen was taken aback at her words. If he had come here and not found her, perhaps he would have thought just as Yun did.

With this thought, Lin Shen felt a tinge of guilt: "It's all in the past now. I'm here, and from now on, no one will make you suffer this way again except for me."
