Chapter 146: There’s a Pervert in My Shop
Chapter 146: Chapter 146: There’s a Pervert in My Shop
Zhao Li opened the store early in the morning. Ever since Lin Shen made a show of his claw-machine skills in the store next door, their business had been doing quite well.
After Lin Shen gained a reputation as a playboy on Realm King Planet, even more customers came to play in their store.
So recently, Zhao Li had been opening the store half an hour early. Some early-bird customers were already waiting outside the door.
As soon as the door opened, customers walked in, lining up at the counter to buy Claw Egg Coins.
While Zhao Li was busy exchanging coins for them, a tall man entered and joined the queue at the back.
A few minutes later, a young man came in.
The young man glanced at the queue and walked straight to the front, shoving the customers who were originally there aside.
“Babe, give me a hundred bucks worth of coins.” The young man leered at Zhao Li’s chest as he spoke.
“Others were here first, you should go line up,” Zhao Li frowned slightly. She loathed the local thugs, but naturally, she couldn’t kick out customers as she opened the store for business.
“Line up, huh?” The young man smirked and turned to the others in the queue with a mocking tone, “I’m standing here, any objections?”
Seeing no one speak up, the young man turned back to Zhao Li with a smug smile, “Babe, you see, they have no objections.”
He’d hardly finished speaking when he felt something grab his head.
He tried to free himself from the grip on his skull, wanting to see who was so bold as to dare touch his head – he hated people touching his head the most.
But the strength was too overpowering; he couldn’t move his head at all.
His gaze fell upon the mirror hanging on the opposite wall, and then he witnessed a scene he would never forget in his next life. He watched as his head was crushed by a large hand, with blood and bone splattering everywhere.
The customers screamed and scattered, and inside the counter, Zhao Li’s face turned pale as she watched the man in horror.
She wanted to run, but to reach the door from the counter, she had to pass by the man, which would be even more dangerous than staying put. At least there was a counter between them now.
The man released his grip, letting the body fall to the floor, and placed a stack of money on the counter, uttering two words in a deep voice, “Exchange coins.”
Zhao Li was stunned for a few seconds before she came to her senses. She instinctively counted the money first, then handed the man the basket and coins.
If Lin Shen saw her like this, he would have to give her a Best Employee award.
The man took the basket and sat down in front of a claw machine, starting to insert coins and play.
Zhao Li stood there dumbstruck, watching the man insert coin after coin, yet not managing to claw out a Base Mutation Egg.
“Ali, I’ve come to rescue you,” a plump figure wielding a stool charged in, shouting as he entered, but stopped short upon witnessing the scene.
“Fatty, don’t mess around,” Zhao Li quickly called out to Qi Tianfu.
Qi Tianfu watched the figure of the man playing the game warily, hesitatingly moving next to the counter where he asked anxiously, “Ali, are you alright?”
“I’m fine. He seems to have just come to play the game,” Zhao Li said.
“That’s good. Let’s get out of here quickly. He’s a serial killer; he’s already killed many people on the street…” Qi Tianfu lowered his voice so that only the two of them could hear, then, taking Zhao Li by the hand, they cautiously began to leave.
The two moved very slowly, frightened to disturb the man.
“What’s going on with you two?” Lin Shen walked into the store and saw Qi Tianfu holding Zhao Li’s hand and another arm around her shoulder, protecting her as they tiptoed out slowly.
Qi Tianfu, seeing Lin Shen, flushed red, instinctively pulling his hand back as if caught in an illicit act.
“Lin, that man…” Zhao Li’s gaze shifted to the man at the claw machine.
“No need to say more, I know everything. You two, get out first.” Lin Shen glanced at the body on the ground, frowned slightly, stopped Zhao Li from continuing, and had them both leave the shop first.
“Lin, I don’t think that guy is all bad. He only started fighting because that person jumped the queue,” Zhao Li felt this reason was a bit far-fetched; cutting in line isn’t a capital offense, but for some reason, she still thought she should speak up for the man.
In Zhao Li’s eyes, as soon as Lin Shen arrived, that man was doomed.
“Hmm, got it,” Lin Shen was somewhat surprised and gestured for them to go out, then he approached the man himself.
“Friend, I can understand your feelings, but murder is always wrong…” Lin Shen walked to the man’s side, wanting to see who this person really was.
This was his place, as well as the Lin Family’s business; if he couldn’t handle it, the Lin Family’s business might suffer in the future.
But as Lin Shen moved to the side and saw his face, the words he was about to say seemed to get stuck, unable to continue.
“Damn… how could he be here…” Lin Shen felt his scalp tingle and all the hair on his body stand on end.
With just one glance, Lin Shen recognized that this man was the same one from the Frost Giant Tree.
He felt like Mr. Tian was playing a joke on him; he simply couldn’t imagine how this man had left Realm King Planet and come here.
Now Lin Shen found himself in an awkward position, not knowing whether to stay or go, standing frozen in place for quite a while without stirring.
However, the man paid him no mind, continuing to put coins into the machine and try grabbing Base Mutation Eggs; he had put in many coins, but failed to grab a single one.
He had no skill whatsoever, just a playboy’s approach; unless he played a certain number of times, he would certainly never grab anything.
Lin Shen now regretted setting the machine’s odds so low, thinking, “What if he doesn’t get any Base Mutation Eggs after a while and decides to slaughter my place?”
There was only him and the man in the shop now; if the man really wanted to slaughter, he’d be the first to go.
Lin Shen’s mind raced as he considered how to deal with the situation at hand.
Fight to the death? Impossible, there wasn’t a chance of that; he’d seen the other man’s strength, which was currently beyond his reach. If the man wanted to kill him, even if he had the Angel Revolver in his hand, a finger on the trigger, he wouldn’t have the chance to shoot.
Besides, even if he did fire, it would be useless; this was a man who could easily crush Crystal Base with his bare hands.
Lin Shen had no intention of making a move, and he somewhat felt that to fight would certainly lead to death, while doing nothing might just spare him.
At the Frost Giant Tree, Lin Shen had felt that this man wasn’t the kind to kill indiscriminately, and with what Zhao Li had just said, Lin Shen believed his initial judgment of the man was correct.
Thinking this, Lin Shen began to slowly retreat, wanting to leave the shop directly.
The shop can be sacrificed, and he’s welcome to take whatever he wants from inside; it doesn’t matter.
One step… two steps… three steps…
The man kept on playing the arcade game and didn’t pay any attention to him. Lin Shen was almost at the shop’s door when he suddenly heard the man say, “Where are you going?”
“Going to get someone to clean this up,” Lin Shen had no choice but to stop, pointing at the body on the floor.
“I’m out of coins, get me some more.” The man got up, walked to the counter, put down a stack of bills, and looked at Lin Shen.
Without a choice, Lin Shen went behind the counter, counted the money out of habit, then took out the Claw Egg Coins.
The man took the coins, turned around, and went back to the claw machine, resuming his coin-dropping game.
“He really is a man of principle.” Lin Shen secretly breathed a sigh of relief; at least he could now be sure that the man wasn’t a random killer.
Coming out from behind the counter, Lin Shen thought to leave again. Even though the man appeared to be principled, who knew if he was some erratic psychopath? Lin Shen didn’t dare gamble his life on the man’s character.
“Stop right there.” Just as his fingers touched the glass door handle and he hadn’t yet pushed the door open, the man spoke up again, stopping him.
