Chapter 154 - Illegitimate Children
Chapter 154: Illegitimate Children
After they went upstairs, the nurse followed Mo Yan’s instructions and informed Mo Cheng that his mother was tired from her walk and was resting.
Mo Cheng did not think too much about it. After seeing his mother with Mo Yan and Luo Tao, they left the ward. In the end, he did not forget to sigh, “Looks like I won’t be able to get an answer anytime soon.”
However, it was not known whether this sigh was disappointment or a sigh of relief.
After leaving the hospital, Mo Yan and Luo Tao sent Mo Cheng back to school.
However, before entering the school, Mo Cheng said that he wanted to talk to Luo Tao alone. This time, it was Mo Yan who went to the coffee shop at the side to wait.
Luo Tao looked at Mo Yan who was waving at him. He chuckled and said first, “What’s the matter?”
“Brother-in-law, my sister told me everything.”
Mo Cheng followed Luo Tao’s line of sight. Mo Yan’s smiling face reflected an indescribable feeling in his eyes.
“Hmm?” Luo Tao was not interested in what Mo Cheng wanted to say.
“I just want to tell you not to disappoint her.”
“That’s all?”
Luo Tao raised his eyebrows slightly, as if he understood what Mo Cheng meant.
Mo Cheng was silent for a moment before he said, “I want to know the truth.”
“Haven’t you already guess it?”
Mo Cheng’s guess was confirmed by Luo Tao.
Therefore, Mo Cheng naturally realized that his mother was pretending to be asleep. Plus, Mo Yan didn’t even go to work today.
“I still want to hear it from you guys, to extinguish my last bit of hope.”
Luo Tao curled his lips and smiled, looking straight into Mo Cheng’s eyes. “There’s no need. No matter who your father is, you are still you. Moreover, so what if you get the answer? Can you change the past? Or can you decide the future?”
Mo Cheng was silent. He did not know why he was so persistent.
“I don’t know. I just want an answer, and there’s a reason.”
“I don’t know the reason, but I know that if you ask about what happened in the past, it will hurt your mother. Whether your mother is more important or your identity is more important, it’s your choice.”
Hearing Luo Tao’s words, Mo Cheng lowered his eyes. He thought that he had already gotten an accurate answer.
“Brother-in-law, what do you think of illegitimate children?”
This question of Mo Cheng’s aroused Luo Tao’s interest. He was also curious if if he told Mo Cheng the truth, would Mo Cheng be unable to recover from the setback or would it become a driving force.
“Illegitimate children should be spurned by others.”
Luo Tao’s words were filled with an inexplicable pain of disdain. Who knew that this was not the end.
“Although parents shouldn’t let their children bear the blame for their mistakes, it’s inevitable for people to vent their anger. It’s normal to be bullied and ostracized.”
When Mo Cheng heard Luo Tao’s extremely honest words, he clenched his fists even tighter and said, “If my sister had the same status, would you still be with my sister?”
Luo Tao thought of how the two of them got married by accident and how he was attracted to her and didn’t want to leave. The smile on his lips became even gentler.
“I wanted to be with your sister from the very beginning. There are many reasons why I was attracted to her, and I no longer care about her identity today.”
However, Mo Cheng seemed to be dissatisfied with his answer and stood there without saying a word.
“I’m impressed by your sister’s strength.”
When he heard his answer, a glimmer of light seemed to flash in Mo Cheng’s eyes.
“What if other people don’t want to get close to you because of your identity as an illegitimate child? How do you let them see your brilliance?” Mo Cheng asked.
“Observe them when they need help the most, or directly show your brilliance so that they can see it even if they don’t come into contact with you.”
Mo Cheng frowned. He understood what Luo Tao said, but didn’t that sound like he was trying to please others?
“When the situation is not favorable, making some allies will turn the situation around.”
Although Mo Cheng didn’t ask, Luo Tao still said it.
Actually, when he was talking to Luo Tao, Mo Cheng had already thought it through. There were many things that he could not change and could not accept, so he might as well choose to move on.
He was still him.
Mo Cheng nodded and did not say anything more. He waved his hand at Mo Yan and walked into the campus with his suitcase.
Luo Tao had just walked to the seat opposite Mo Yan and sat down. A cup of coffee was placed in front of him. Luo Tao took a sip. It was the taste that he often drank when he was with Mo Yan.
“Why did you guys talk for such a long time? What did you talk about?” Mo Yan asked curiously.
Luo Tao just smiled and said meaningfully, “You don’t need to know about man-to-man conversations.”
