Chapter 234 Giving Chance
While the three girls had been engaged in a verbal fight, Kyle didn't notice their tension at all.
He was simply focusing on fighting the ten winged cheetahs.
Their cultivation base was higher, but he was cultivating with Soul force which increased his combat prowess by a large margin.
Because of that, Kyle was not all that worried as he also had a strong affinity, and the help of his Spirit Soul to fight not one but ten opponents!
Thus, being inside a large arena that was constructed similar to a large modern gymnasium, he simply smiled while looking at the winged cheetahs with golden brownish fur.
The moment his battle against them began, the three girls had begun to passively fight each other using their words.
On the other hand, Kyle used the Starbreaker katana, pushing his feet off the ground in order to catapult himself ahead.
With the Swift Steps movement technique and powerful wind gusts giving him an additional boost, his speed had doubled.
This made it possible for him to reach the threshold of the cheetahs' agility, and possibly even exceed it as he emerged in the midst of them.
They attempted to pounce at him, and tear him apart with their claws and razor-sharp fangs.
However, even before they could reach him, Kyle's entire body seemed to turn into a hedgehog as hundreds of tiny compressed wind needles materialized around him.
With terrifying speed, he materialized and shot them out afterward as they went straight at their targets, piercing into the hide of the oblivious cheetahs.
Through this, Kyle had been able to distract them.
Making use of the distraction, he conjured several highly compressed crescent wind blades, which he controlled expertly to cut off the cheetahs' wings.
At the same time, Kyle didn't stay idle as he catapulted himself towards the closest cheetah.
It had been hit by most wind needles, and let out a pained hiss, before he perceived that Kyle appeared right in front of it.
While trying to flap its wings in order to turn around in the quickest way, it noticed too late that Kyle's wind blades had already shot past him.
They had cut off the wings just a moment ago, preventing the winged cheetah from doing anything.
Through this, Kyle's katana pierced through the heart of the cheetah without meeting any resistance.
Simultaneously, he used a tiny trace of his Soul force in order to enhance the Soul energy draining effect.
That allowed the Starkbreaker katana to absorb the cheetah's entire Soul energy just moments after it succumbed to its injuries.
Once the deed was done, Kyle disappeared from his earlier position while manifesting even more crescent wind blades which he shot out in several directions.
While he was controlling them neatly, he noticed that Arashi had emerged in the small gap between his shirt and the ordinary jacket he was wearing.
This made it seem as if his back had a bump, and Arashi was getting uncomfortable just lying in there so even he began to start controlling the surrounding winds.
Using them to enhance the speed of the wind-based attacks, the two turned the crescent wind blades into something even more lethal, as they pierced through the winged cheetahs as if they were not Pryr beasts but instead followed the path of Wisdom, Spiral!
Even Kyle was a little bit astonished that one of the fastest kinds of beasts that was following the path of strength was not able to evade his wind attacks.
However, if Kyle were to realize that his first attack, that is the needle onslaught, had injured the paws, ankles, and legs of the cheetahs, he would be even more confused.
He didn't really aim while shooting out the tiny compressed wind needles at those specific body parts, but it made Merl, who observed the battle the most intently, think that this was the case.
As such, Merl Lion presumed that Kyle's combat experience and fast thinking had allowed him to leave the Brawl unscathed with a Mutated Licara flower seed at that.
This was simply unimaginable considering that the number of opponents he faced was enormous, while their strength had also been exceptional.
'Looks like this year's hunt will be even more interesting than usual!'
A subtle smile emerged on his face as he thought about this.
Merl was impressed with Kyle's righteous ways, even though he was in the kingdom of a race that loathed the race that looked just like him.
This could also be considered stupid, but Merl knew that there was only a thin line between being brave, and foolish.
As such, he hoped for the best, imagining how nice it would be for some things to change in the rows of the Lahin kingdom's nobility, and their entire race's mindset.
With that in mind, Merl kept his full attention on Kyle, as he shot through the arena, killing off every single cheetah as if it was not a beast at the Late Vitae stage, but the Fortification stage.
What nobody noticed was that Kyle was not only using his usual tactics and weapons to kill everyone but that he was also releasing the battle intent that he had attained in the Razkadan castle.
Honed during the months that followed the fall of the Razkadan castle, Kyle's battle intent was now much firmer than before.
This allowed him to hide the presence of his attacks until they reached their intended targets, which was likely to be the reason for the difficulties the cheetahs were facing while attempting to avoid his attacks.
After all, not only the thrusts and slashes with the Starbreaker katana were attempted to be covered within his battle intent, but also the wind-based attacks that were conjured out of his Soul force.
Evading attacks from multiple directions was difficult as it is, but adding the subtle concealment of the battle intent to the equation made Kyle's attacks become even more dangerous!
Even Kyle had not expected this, which made the entire battle far easier.
Somehow, he had even hoped to face a difficult fight, which would have allowed him to show his strength and prove that he was not to be taken lightly.
And, the fact that he ended the battle in less than three minutes in addition to the dead corpses of the winged cheetahs scattered through the arena was more than enough to achieve this effect.
Merl Lion just looked at him blankly without moving a single inch.
The brown-furred Lohar flinched, and slowly regained his consciousness, only for the young female noble to feel as if she was at the wrong place.
After all, what kind of medical use did it have for the young Lohar to be in one of the academy's arenas?!
But when she noticed the weird presence of a unique type of vigorous energy surfacing near her, she could only look up, and see Kyle.
Without delay, he rushed towards the young, unconscious Lohar after defeating all of his opponents.
He empowered the Nurture ability with the Soul energy of the ten winged cheetahs at the Late Vitae stage, before using it entirely to invigorate the youth!
The young female noble could sense Kyle's vigorous energy owing to her healing affinity.
It made her more sensitive to such energies, only for Merl and others to notice nothing special about Kyle.
He was simply touching the brown-furred Lohar's chest before the said Lohar showed signs of movements before letting out a sigh of relief.
Afterward, Kyle got up before asking,
"Do you know where I can figure out his schedule? He should wake up at any moment, and owing to the energy he should have right now, there wouldn't be a problem for him to fight, right off the bat!"
It seemed like Kyle was in a good mood, and this caused Merl to smile lightly as well.
He expected the young man to hold a grudge against him for being too rigid before, but that was not the case.
On the contrary, Kyle could understand that the hierarchy of the Lohar race was more complicated than he initially thought.
But that was the case in most places he had been to since his arrival on Shima.
Thus, it was great for someone with the mindset of a revolutionist, to exist!
And Kyle was of the opinion that quite a few noble Lohars were not fond of the kingdom's hierarchy and the mindset of the older instructors, even more so the instructors that were also members of the nobility!
As such, he was quite comfortable right now, feeling great as he noticed that the young Lohar had regained his consciousness.
He opened his eyes wide that were gleaming with vigor, only for astonishment and confusion to follow suit.
"What…happened?!", were the first words he asked.
Yet, before he received a proper answer, Kyle helped him get up from the ground before answering,
"You were unconscious for less than half an hour. Go to your next exams. Don't worry about nobles beating you up, I hope my lecture was enough to make them stop harassing you!"
With that being said, Kyle nodded his head to the young and confused Lohar before firmly slapping his shoulders.
Afterward, he looked at the Lohar's hues and was reassured that everything was fine, which allowed him to leave without any worries.
Merl had not expected Kyle to leave just like this, not after everything he had done for the youth.
What Merl was oblivious to was the fact that Kyle didn't want to force anyone to do anything.
Instead, he simply felt the need to provide others the chance to change their future, especially those who couldn't change it on their own.
Because of that, he had been angered when the six nobles had nearly snatched the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity from the young man.
Now, with his mind at ease, Kyle returned to the three women, where he immediately sensed some tension between Beatrice and Selene.
Yasmine was just shaking her head, looking helplessly at him as if the situation was too much for her to handle.
And that was precisely the case as Yasmine had never been good at calming down her angered friends.
After all, she had never had real friends, to begin with.
And the handful of 'so-called' friends of hers didn't dare to make trouble as they wanted to get benefits from Beatrice rather than her friendship.
As such, her frustration and confusion about what she should do when somebody would challenge her was something new for her as well.
But even if Yasmine looked at him in a helpless manner, Kyle was not exactly known for being overly tactful.
Thus, he decided to intervene in a rather simple manner.
"By the way, why do you want to hide that we know each other, Selene?"
His voice was not loud, and the noises of the next student's fighting exam coming from the arena prevented everybody except the three women in front of him from hearing what he had asked.
Selene wanted to have a nice talk with Kyle in order to figure out what he had been up to during the last year.
And even more so, she wanted to know how he had ended up traveling with two other women.
This irked her the most, leading Selene to stare daggers at him.
However, it was just a moment later that she saw him raise his right eyebrow at her.
This made her recall that she was not a Baroness to him, but the little Lohar, whom he had rescued without demanding anything in return.
Clearly remembering the time they had been together, Selene's demeanor changed in an instant as she calmed down.
Her stance changed as well, as her gaze softened while the coldness on her face was washed away, astonishing Yasmine and Beatrice.
"Well…there were some difficulties with the fact that I had a lot of contact with Aldras before the war started. Some instructors are very strict with me and continue the same behavior even now, so I thought that I could project you like this the best, Master!"
Hearing her call him 'Master' made Kyle sigh, feeling as if his head would break apart at any moment.
'I thought this mess was over?!' He could only think as he threw a glance towards Beatrice and Yasmine, who looked at him with squinted eyes.
It was almost as if they judged him for 'forcing' Selene to call him Master.
His reaction was just a deep frown as he shook his head, thinking that the two women were insane.
This caused them to laugh out, only for Selene to look at them in confusion.
'Did I say something funny?' She wondered before recalling that she didn't like the two women.
Yet, when Selene saw that Kyle reached out to her with his hand, she instinctively moved her head ahead, while her bunny ears began to twitch happily.
Ruffling her hair just like old times, Kyle didn't even think about ignoring Selene for the sake of some annoying instructors.
After all, he had come to the Glory Knight academy for Selene, and nobody else!!
"Let's have a nice talk, okay?"
