Chapter 131: Epilogue:What Goes Around…… Part 1
「No matter how I look at it, The Fool seems like a jackpot to me…… Besides, I can always recover in safe zones, anyways.」
「I think it’s perfect for you, Sanraku-san!」
「Is that some roundabout way of you saying, “You’re a fool just like that card!”, hmm?」
「Honestly speaking, you’d have to be an idiot to dare to challenge Luukan while being half-naked!」
「Oi, you say that, but challenging Luukan while being so low-level is equally as stupid in my book, you know?」
「…………」
「You know, I think that challenging Luukan no matter how well you are prepared can get you the looks of “Uwah! Talk about crazy, challenging an opponent like that!”」
After that, Sanraku and Emul were running through the back alleys of Fifthsia while making a whole lot of noise. After the event of obtaining the “Mysterium Arcanum” was over, the Awakened Guru simply disappeared as if he was never really there in the first place. According to Library’s records, it was a mystical being as old as this kingdom itself, and the powers it was bestowing upon the players was based on their past accomplishments. And when it comes to the Fool Arcana, the conditions for that card to appear are still shrouded in mystery up to some extent.
(Maybe it has something to do with the amount of time you had to spent on obtaining level ninety nine? After all, it took me a really short time to get there, looking at it objectively……)
For example, when it comes to Fortune Arcana, the trigger for that is the amount of supposed rare drops you’ve managed to obtain before reaching level ninety nine. In a similar fashion, Emperor and Empress are Arcana awarded to the players who display leadership abilities and issued orders around the battlefield, leading others towards victory.
There are still Arcana out there that are shrouded in mystery, such as Rei’s “The World” or “Judgement”, but apparently if you satisfy the conditions for many of them, you’d have to choose just one once you hit level ninety nine. It was still a topic of some major debates amongst the players.
For Sanraku, it’s been less than a month since he started his adventure inside ShangriLa Frontier. During that time he did some major power leveling, met and befriended some of the most powerful players in the game, reached level ninety nine and even managed to beat monsters whose levels far exceeded that of one hundred in combat. And the fact that he managed to do all that without the help of at least several high-level players was a feat that even Saiga-0 had to recognize as simply amazing.
(After clearing so many hard and sh*tty games, even I must say that I’m astonished to some extent.)
In the past, when she used to buy the same games as Sanraku did just so that she could make conversation with him about them, Rei would give up on them the moment she reached the maximum level cap. And seeing that some of those games were really challenging, it was to be expected that with experience gained in them Sanraku would be able to reach level ninety nine in no time at all.
Unexpectedly, both Sanraku and Emul disappeared in the labyrinth of the back alley and Saiga-0 could finally let out a deep and long sigh which contained all of her tension which was building up all throughout the night. It was a night rich in events, some of which she would never even deem possible. And the fact that they managed to best Night Prowler Luukan in combat, unlock the Unique Quest EX and even receive a special event item as a proof of that was something that she still couldn’t quite believe. But there was also something else. Should Saiga-0 actually tell her sister what transpired tonight? For all that she knew, her sister gets really crazy whenever Luukan was involved.
(Nee-san, I want to find out on my own what this Unique Quest really is, to see if I can beat it with my own two hands……)
Saiga-100, who should be currently spearheading the pioneer expedition to the new continent, ever since the emergence of the guild “Wolfgang” and their spectacular defeat of Gravekeeper Wezaemon, felt under constant pressure. She wanted to beat Luukan herself more than anything in this world, so what would happen if Rei told her that she beat it with Sanraku’s help, she’d most probably demand to fight it one more time, but this time around with her on board, and the search for the black wolf would begin anew.
Rei knew that her sister was more of a brute force-type rather than diplomacy type, but deep down she was not a bad person. It was this exact charisma of hers that drew people towards her, and it made her the polar opposite of Arthur Pencilgton, whom she always thought to be “an embodiment of trouble”.
(…… I guess that letting her know about a week from now won’t be much of a problem.)
A thought like that occurs in Saiga-0’s head as a result of fatigue and excitement combined from such an eventful and challenging night. For now Sanraku said that he would go back and repair his items and reorganize his equipment, and she should probably do the same. It just goes to show just how seriously Sanraku was thinking about his preparations, just like the battle against Luukan, and that fact alone was resonating with Rei almost at a spiritual level. But even though money was not a problem for Saiga-0, her current condition was an entirely different story.
(For now I should log out and make myself something to eat……)
Sanraku fought Luukan while taking care not to be hit even once. Saiga-0, on the other hand, had to keep a constant check on the timing of her skills in order to maximize their damage and effectiveness. Even though the fatigue from playing like that wasn’t reflected in the avatars, it greatly affected the players themselves. So Saiga-0 decided for now to go back to “Black Wolves” headquarters, all the time reminiscing about this dreamlike night she just had together with Sanraku.
When they first met, they were like many other strangers out there. The thing she found attractive about him was the way he looked so happy every time he was going back home. There was also the way he looked when he was doing great in the game he just purchased or the way he looked really down every time something went wrong. There were just so many aspects to him that she still didn’t know about, and it was only making her want to know more about him.
Being with him was truly fun and she was having a great time. She honestly thought that no one else would be able to make her feel like that. All of those moments were now becoming engraved inside Saiga-0…… No, Saiga Rei as precious memories that will never disappear……
「Hehe…… Ehehehe…… Ehehehehehehehe……」
