Rise of the Blood Sovereign

Chapter 90 Wan's Plea

90  Wan's Plea

"Wait, so you're saying that you had it wrong this whole time?" Lyle suddenly asked Wan who nodded tearfully.

"The one that killed my lord was a blonde man, he had red eyes, which is why we believed it to be you as that was the only information about your looks."

"So, for the last couple of years the two of you have been searching everywhere for information about me, you devoted your whole lives to finding and killing me, only to now tell me that you had the wrong person from the very beginning?"

"Yes, yes, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." Wan started crying as he looked down at the ground, unable to even speak properly thanks to the regret he felt.

He and Olman had spent countless hours and devoted their lives solely to finding Lyle, whom they presumed to be the assassin, only to now figure that they had been wrong the entire time. Wan felt incredibly regretful not only because their last couple of years had basically been worthless, but also because they were now both going to die.

He knew that they were not a match for Lyle who had recently managed to kill the young duke who was being guarded by an archmage. No matter how weak the archmage was, he was still a being that not even Morn's father could hope to touch.

And yet, Lyle had done the seemingly impossible task for someone of his rank and had managed to assassinate the duke. Even Morn had no access to the details about how he had done the mission, but what mattered were the results.

In hindsight, it was very arrogant of them to assume that Lyle would be unable to see through their plan and that they would be able to get rid of him that easily.

Wan and Olman had assumed that at the very least, their involvement would stay secret even if he was to see through the whole thing, and that at the very least they were safe with Morn.

They both knew that Lyle wouldn't be able to do anything to Morn thanks to his father, but they were well aware that they did not possess the same protection, hence the reason for them wanting to leave the mansion as soon as possible.

They were too late, however, and their fate was already sealed.

Wan knew that Lyle had complete control now. He was much more powerful than they were, but surprisingly, Wan could see that Lyle was only at the same level Morn was, which should be impossible thanks to his high rank and accomplishments.

"Well, let's go greet your friend, shall we?" Lyle said with a smile as he ordered Wan to step out of the room.

As the terrified man went out, he could see Olman who was leaving his room as well.

"You're finished?" Olman asked as his back was turned to Wan. He was closing the door and was unaware of how terrified Wan looked right now.

"That's good, we should leave right now, I thought about it, and you're right, that bastard could come any moment now," Olman said before turning around, only to find the terrified Wan.

He dropped his bag on the ground, but before he could do anything, the cold steel of Lyle's dagger was already placed on his neck.

"Don't move, don't talk, only listen to your friend, alright?" Lyle told Olman who was paralyzed. He knew that the only person that would be brave enough to break into the mansion and put a dagger on his neck was the one he and Wan were searching for the last couple of years.

"Olman, we were wrong," Wan said stutteringly as Olman looked at him in confusion.

"What the hell are you saying, is he forcing you to-"

"No, look, just look at him, it's not him," Wan said with tears in his eyes as Olman's eyes opened wide while the dagger was put away and Lyle appeared in front of him.

"Hello there."

"You!" Olman shouted before trying to attack Lyle, only to be punched in the stomach.

The force of the punch was strong enough to make Olman drop to his knees and cover his stomach with his hands as he panted heavily.

"Bastard," Olman said with difficulty as Wan looked at him with tears.

"Please stop Olman, it's not him, we were wrong this whole time."

"What the hell is wrong with you, this guy is a master when it comes to disguising himself, this is probably yet another of his faces."

"It's not, I know it's not." Wan shook his head as he looked down at Olman. With him being a vampiric servant, he of course could sense that this truly was how Lyle looked like.

"Look here," Lyle said as he pointed at Olman's neck and the two small dots that were present.

"What is that, what did you do, you bastard?" Olman said with difficulty as Lyle sighed.

"I turned him, he is mine now."

"What?"

"I said." Lyle crouched down and grabbed Olman's face before forcing him onto his feet.

"I turned him into my servant and he is now under my control, if I so will it, I can make him skin you alive and even eat your flesh while you are alive," Lyle told Olman who was looking at him with anger in his eyes.

"But I have to admit, you are much braver than your friend there, still, it doesn't matter, you two tried to kill me, even though it was a mistake from your side, it doesn't change that."

"Please, don't do it." Wan suddenly fell down to his knees and kowtowed to Lyle.

"At least, at least leave Olman alive, make him a servant, he is more talented than I am and will definitely be useful to you in the future."

"You can also continue using me if you so wish, I don't care what you do to me, just don't kill him."

"We made a mistake, and we should atone for it, even if it means being a slave to you for the rest of my life, I will do it."

"Oh, but you don't really have a choice in that regard, don't you?" Lyle suddenly asked Wan who bit his lower lip with great force, splitting it open and making blood come out.

"I know, but that is all I can do right now."

"Wan, what the hell, did you forget what we-"

"I told you!" Wan suddenly shouted out.

"He is not the guy, this is his real face, as a servant I can sense it, it's not a trick or a lie, it was just us that had it all wrong for the last couple of years."

"The guy that killed Istar is still out there, maybe he has even died without us knowing it, but it is not him." Olman stared at Wan with shock in his eyes before looking at Lyle.

"Is that really the truth?"

"Yes, it is," Wan said with tears in his eyes as he hit the ground with his head. n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

"We might not seem like much, but I swear that if you are willing to take us in, we will be of great help."

"I am good at managing others and my ability allows me to easily infiltrate places and disguise myself in a moment."

"Olman is great when it comes to mingling with others and getting information out of them without them even realizing it, his strength is also decent for his level and he is stronger than most."

"We might not seem like much, but we can be of help, I swear." Wan implored Lyle as the latter looked at Olman.

Neither one of the two knew this, but this was exactly what Lyle wanted.

He had two open slots for servants, right now Diana was taking up one of them, while Wan took up the second one. Diana was useless to him, and even though he had spent many years together with her, it was just an exchange for the two.

Diana betraying him in a heartbeat when she had the chance to earn some money further reinforced the fact, so he was in no way against eliminating her in order to make Olman a servant as well.

The two had done a great job when it came to getting Morn a whole organization to work under him. Even though it was mostly thugs and smaller businesses, the two had managed to do that without any real help from Morn and were mostly left to their own devices.

Lyle could see the talent the two possessed, and even though loyalty was not an issue since neither one could really betray him, being loyal would only help out when it came to how well they would do their job.

One could not go against his order, but one did not need to do their job well in order to fulfill the requirement. Even if Lyle was to order Wan to make an organization for him, the latter could simply do a half-assed job and barely pass the requirement for what an organization was in order to finish the order.

If they were loyal, however, then they would give it their best and would make sure to do a good job, which is what Lyle wanted out of them.

"Alright, but first, go and get Diana here, I know you brought her with you." Lyle suddenly told Wan who nodded at him.
