Chapter 2375: To Duat
Chapter 2375: To Duat
Sam's message had a magical effect.
All the players who were already on fast track for a breakthrough, increased their speed of actions even more. Meanwhile, Sam made some more arrangements before he found a way to slip to the Duat region.
Trike helped with that actually.
The elder somehow managed to convince all of the Duat region in just a couple to days and made it so that Sam will not be targeted there. He even arranged long winding appointments with the people of Duat region whose descendants or affiliated people have signed the agreements with Sam.
So, he is basically going there to inherit the properties and riches that he strongarmed them into signing off to him.
Everyone just assumed that various powers will look for a way to break that agreement with Sam. In fact, most people are doing that. They even estimated much more pushback from relatively neutral territories like Duat and Xia will be a lot more resistant to this.
After all, at least Olympus, Norse and Sanatan realms have some grudges with Hub and Sam and their amplified a bit.
The same couldn't be said about the other realms. So, Sam's imposing and unreasonable penalty on them is completely uncalled for.
At least that was what's in everyone's mind, before Duat region's open invitation for Sam.
Of course, this raised a million alarm bells in Ling Tian's and Dove's hearts. The moment the invitation was announced, he was called to the Dean's office.
"What the hell is happening? Is Set academy trying to lure you and kill you? Did you piss off Trike while we were not watching?"
The moment Sam stepped his foot in the office, the barrage of words from Ling Tian's mouth hit him.
Dove didn't say anything, but the way she is biting her lower lip trying to stay put, clearly showed how much she wanted to yell out loud.
Wharton looked bored as usual.
"Why the heck are you even using my office for meeting without my permission? Even if you use it, why do you need to force me to stay here?"
Wharton muttered even before Sam could answer.
Ling Tian gave him a glare and turned back to Sam.
Sam sighed and said.
"Can you stop nagging me every time you hear something about me? If it is really needed, and if there is really a sign of threat, I would have contacted you myself. This one is completely safe."
"Safe? How will you know that?"
Sam looked at Dove and Wharton before sighing again.
"I signed a soul contract. Trike himself vouched for my safety.
Don't worry about it."
Ling Tian looked at him intently before he also sighed in exhaustion.
"I would rather be in the frontlines that dealing with you. This is getting ridiculous."
"I should be the one saying this. I understand you are paranoid about another disaster, but can you stop summoning me here every time you hear something?"
Sam turned around and left. He didn't want to give anymore explanations. These old men are all full of questions.
He just made some arrangements before leaving. He didn't go through the space gate. He went out on harbinger. Duat region is one of the farthest in terms of distance. So, it took some time for Sam to arrive there.
The moment he arrived, Trike came out to greet him outside the Duat city.
Sam has seen this city before. He came here when the hub was being built. At that time, he moved secretly. Later he has seen all the secrets of the city through the Hub.
Apart from that, his interaction with this place has been minimal. Of course, there is some business for him or rather one of his managers here.
In the eight people that he recruited, just like how Icarus has beef with the Zeus academy and Ivar has beef with Thor academy, Khufu has a beef with the Set academy. However, Sam is coming to Duat region to make a deal with the same Set academy.
Of course, not without a plan.
A promise is a promise and Sam promised all the managers that he will help them get their revenge and collapse the academy realm.
And in process if he has to get chummy with some of them, then so be it.
Trike escorted Sam to a special residence arranged for him in the city. It is close to the Set academy.
"I ensured that all the appointments are scheduled with a decent gap in between. You will stay here for at least a month.
I hope that this time is enough for you to at least get started.
There is only one or two appointments a day and they are all in the first half of the morning. Before noon, you should be done. From noon to the next day, you can focus on the work at hand."
Sam nodded and said.
"So, have you found the guy with the criteria I mentioned?"
"There are a few picks. You can meet them tonight and make a decision.
Anyway, I am sure I don't have to tell you this, but keep it a complete secret. I am ensuring that none of this leaks from my side. So, if there is a leak, you will be my first suspect."
Sam nodded and said.
"You arranged for the people that I should be working with?"
"Yes, they are ready. Apart from me, they will be the only ones that will be in touch with you regarding the work.
No one else knows about this. Not even the people who are privy to the information regarding the prince of darkness."
"Alright, I want to know. Aren't there any people in your academy that are against this prince of darkness thing? I am sure they are also aware of the prince that you used a place holder
until now."
"Of course there are. That is one of the reasons I am asking you to keep it completely under the wraps. They cannot know what is happening. As I said, if they do, you will be my firstNôv(el)B\\jnn
suspect."
Sam just shrugged and didn't bother refuting it.
Everything that he wants to say, will be said in all due time.
That night, Sam went to meet with the others that will be involved in the project. There are four elders in total. Two of them seniors from Trike's generation and the other two are
relatively younger. They became the elders a few years ago.
Along with them, he also saw a lineup of the candidates.
Sam recognized most of their faces.
Their information is part of the database he made of the astral region students. They are from
the lesser academies in the astral region. All from the academies that are affiliated to Set
academy.
Sam checked their constitutions once again and was impressed by Trike's ability to gather them all here. They indeed meet most of the requirements Sam mentioned.
Among them, he picked three.
"These three will suffice. They have the highest affinity to the dark element and death energy. Their constitutions are also not rigid, which allows us to be a lot more flexible with our
approach."
Trike was surprised by Sam's selection, but he didn't show any objections. The same didn't go with the other four elders though. Once Sam left to back to his residence, the gathered and
started bitching about it.
"Elder Trike, are you sure this is the right guy for this? The three people he selected are the ones with the least potential. They would barely be able to breakthrough to the Divine plane
and that will take their life time.
How can we create a vessel for the prince of darkness from any of the three?
The previous vessel is a dozen times talented than any of them. But even he wasn't able to
hold the black fog without any consequences."
"I also have some doubts about him. Recreating something, recreating a body with a constitution... that is the job of gods. How can a normal cultivator, that too a human do it?
This could very well be the impossible."
Trike stayed silent for a while.
These questions bombarded his mind as well. He also thought the same thing.
But Stone's results.
The change in Stone's body is not small. He even investigated about Stone and his involvement with Jade and Theron. Stone's past is not that hard to find.
Stone's connection to flaming skulls and that flaming skulls' alleged connection with Sam, he
can fill in the rest of the blanks.
And Sam himself admitted that he can do it.
On top of all that, his instinct told him that Sam is the man for the job. So, he convinced
himself and convinced the elders.
"Are you doubting my judgment?" That is all he said.
The other four immediately went mute. They didn't dare raise their voice.
Anyway, Sam managed to changed their mind later and they realized these doubts were just
them being ignorant.
