Primitive Man

Chapter 113: Rumours & Development

The wedding sickness in the village cooled down after a few weeks, but the rumours about a certain night still lingered among the young people of the village, especially the young girls.

"Did you see Big Sister Unami that day?" One of the girls, who was close in age to Kara, questioned her friends as they were picking fruits.

"You're asking that now? I saw Aunt Ayra and that other woman too. But none of them were looking like our patriarch. It seemed like he had to be carried by Aunt Gundo,"

"Is that so? I couldn't imagine what happened there. I've learned about sexual education, but I still don't understand how a man's thing can feel good. After all, my mother said it was painful,"

The younger girls were discussing their sex education and the rumours, but there was one person who didn't like any of these rumours spreading around the village. It was none other than Kara, who kept biting her own clothes in jealousy.

"Damn it! It should have been me, not them." She kept walking around the town muttering those words while looking for a way to attract Garnt's attention but then she noticed that Unami, Rona and Garnt looking rather strange, standing in front of a building.

She had to wonder what this was about, so she quickly ran and tapped Garnt from behind and hugged him.

"Garnt, what is happening? Why are you guys looking like that?" Kara's question caught everyone by surprise.

They had been engrossed in their own thoughts, and her sudden presence disrupted the atmosphere. Unami was about to answer, a hint of unease in her expression, but just then, Gundo emerged from the hut with a radiant smile on her face. She approached the group, her eyes twinkling with excitement.

"Everyone stay calm and listen to this," Gundo began, but she was careful enough to not ruin this important moment for anyone. "It seems like Ayra might be pregnant."

Kara's eyes widened in disbelief. The shock was evident on everyone's faces, but Kara's reaction was the most extreme. After all, Ayra was her mother, and the thought of her being pregnant was nothing short of absurd in her mind.

"No way!" She knew that it might happen someday, but didn't expect that to happen so fast.

Garnt, Rona, and Unami exchanged astonished glances, unsure of how to process this unexpected news. In their primitive society, they had no way to confirm such a matter as a fact, but the symptoms Ayra displayed had Gundo convinced.

"Her appetite's grown, she's been feeling nauseous in the mornings, and her energy's been low, also her piss is a little weird." Gundo continued, listing the signs she had observed. "All these things point to a pregnancy, according to the instructions given to me by Garnt and our guardian spirit."

Kara felt a wave of emotions crash over her, a mixture of shock, disbelief, and jealousy. Her thoughts raced, trying to comprehend the idea of her mother carrying a child, and she couldn't help but wonder if Garnt might be the father.

"Mother, is she okay right now?" Garnt asked as he wanted to see Gundo and she just nodded her head.

"She is fine, but until we confirm, I won't allow her to fight or train. Also Garnt, I learnt that women need at least three to four weeks to pregnant after having sex, so this might be the result of-" Gundo then looked at the other two girls, who had blooming smiles on their faces knowing they were next. "Result of when you first had sex with my sister,"

Kara was still silent and didn't know how she should react to this information. After all, If Ayra had a baby with Garnt, she would become the sister to her crush's child.

As Ayra slowly emerged from the room with a different look on her face while they were talking, Garnt was the first to notice the change in her demeanour. He immediately rushed to her side, concern etched across his face. The others followed suit, their astonishment and confusion momentarily forgotten in the worry for Ayra.

"Ayra, you should stay inside and rest," Gundo muttered in a stern voice, but she also understood that she was not someone she would be able to

Garnt reached out to her, wrapping his arms around her gently. He could see the traces of tears on her cheeks. He leaned in and planted a soft, reassuring kiss on her lips, letting her know that he was there for her.

"Oh my!" Rona muttered with a smile, while Unami also just chuckled. Kara was confused by this because they were supposed to be the most jealous people just like her, but right now they looked like it was the most natural thing for him to do. Gundo also acted like an adult.

"I'm glad if you're pregnant, Ayra," Garnt whispered, a mixture of relief and happiness in his voice. Ayra's tears began to flow, but this time they were tears of joy. She returned Garnt's affectionate embrace, feeling the warmth of his support and love.

"Me too. I hope Gundo is right and our child is safe,"

Rona and Unami, who had been excitedly speculating, now joined the couple, embracing them and offering their heartfelt congratulations. Gundo, too, shared in their happiness, giving Ayra and Garnt a warm smile and a nod of approval.

"Next, it's going to be me, so show me how cute Garnt's children can be," Rona muttered showing, she was also waiting for her chance.

"Of course, they are going to be cute and strong, after all, they are our children," Unami answered her and all of them were happily conversing with each other.

The only one left standing apart from the celebration was Kara, who had been struggling with her conflicting emotions. She finally stepped forward, her expression a mix of curiosity, concern, and unresolved feelings. She approached Ayra and softly asked, "How are you feeling, Mother?"

Ayra, still in Garnt's arms, managed a reassuring smile and reached out to pat Kara's head affectionately. "I'm feeling better now, Kara. We're all here for each other, no matter what happens. Also, I will meet both of you to properly talk."

Kara, though still a bit conflicted, couldn't help but return Ayra's smile. She realized that this unexpected news had the potential to bring their group even closer together, despite the complexity of the situation. She stepped closer and joined the group hug, offering her congratulations and support, ready to face the uncertain future.

***

The news about Ayra's possible pregnancy spread around the whole village, and it was another reason for a celebration. But before all that, Ayra had two special people with whom she wanted to talk privately.

Ayra sat down with her two special people, Kara and Kiriah, in a quiet corner of their home. She looked at each of them with a mix of love and concern, knowing that this conversation was important.

"Kara, Kiriah," she began, her voice gentle but firm, "I wanted to talk to both of you about the news of my possible pregnancy with Garnt. I want you to know that you both mean the world to me and that will never change, no matter what happens."

She wanted to be a responsible woman and make her children feel special, so they wouldn't collect doubts inside their minds.

Kiriah beamed with excitement, unable to contain his joy. "Mother, that's wonderful news! I'm so happy for you and Garnt. I promise to be the best big brother to the new child. I'll protect them and make sure they have lots of fun."

Ayra smiled warmly at Kiriah and hugged him tightly. "Thank you, my sweet boy. I know you'll be a fantastic big brother, and I'm so grateful to have you as my son."

He was just happy to have Garnt close to him, and didn't really care much about complex things, so after talking for a few minutes, he left the hut since he wanted to go and help Garnt to prepare the ceremony.

As Kiriah left the room, Ayra turned her attention to Kara, who had been silent and pensive throughout the conversation. Ayra reached out and gently touched Kara's cheek, encouraging her to make eye contact.

"Kara," Ayra said softly, "I can see that you have conflicting feelings about this, and I understand. But I want you to know that I love you just as much as ever. You are and will always be my daughter. No matter what happens, you are forever a part of my heart."

Kara's eyes welled up with tears, and she finally spoke, her voice trembling. "I... I know, Mother. It's just... I can't help the way I feel about Garnt. I've loved him for a long time, and I can't stop. I love both of you, but at the same time I feel jealous of you."

Ayra sighed, her heart heavy with understanding. "Kara, I know your feelings are real, but it's important to remember that Garnt sees you as a child right now, and it's because you are. You need time to grow and mature into a beautiful woman, and then you can decide how you want to pursue your feelings. In the meantime, focus on becoming the best version of yourself. Garnt will always be a part of our lives, and the future is uncertain. But for now, let's celebrate this new life and support each other."

Kara nodded, her tears subsiding. She realized that her mother's advice was sound, even though it was difficult to hear. She hugged Ayra tightly and whispered, "I'll try to be patient, Mother, and I'll always be here for you and our family."

Ayra returned the hug, relieved to see Kara's acceptance. She knew that their family had its share of complexities, but they would face them together.
