Chapter 145: Decision and Specialization
Chapter 145: Decision and Specialization
Terrance could clearly see Kirlias struggle and hesitation. Faced with the dual choice of evolving into the unknown Gallade or the present option of evolving into Gardevoir, Kirlia fell into a deep silence.
Now, there were two choices before it: one was to accept Sabrinas assistance and evolve into Gardevoir through the conventional use of psychic power.
The second was to try the Dawn Stone later and strive towards becoming the swordmaster Terrance described.
For Kirlia, both choices were highly uncertain. However, the only difference was that it could evolve into Gardevoir with a hundred percent certainty at the moment, while the effectiveness of the Dawn Stone for a Kirlia with physical defects remained unknown.
Although Terrance had allowed Kirlia to make its own choice according to its own will, during this time, Terrance, in his role as a Trainer and Breeder, has taken care of it. The efforts and sweat they both put into the direction of evolving towards Gallade make Kirlia hesitant.
For Kirlia, with physical defects, Terrances appearance, the concept of evolution and the path of swordsmanship, and the subsequent practical attempts have all instilled in Kirlia the hope and possibility of becoming stronger through its own relentless efforts.
This allowed Ralts, who was not satisfied with the status quo at the time, to find a new goal and a direction to strive for.
Gallade, through its efforts, even if it couldnt learn moves, could still become stronger
Kirliiia
Kirlia looked at Sabrina with apology and gratitude in its eyes, shaking its head to decline her offer.
Hum
Hum
The moment Kirlia refused, Terrance could clearly sense a change in Sabrinas aura.
Since thats the case, please leave.
As the voice fell, there was a sudden flash before the eyes of Kirlia and Terrance.
Immediately, Terrances eyes turned dark, a deafening roar filling his ears, and then he felt a profound silence enveloping his surroundings.
Ah ah ah
Suddenly, from the sky above Saffron Gym, a scream came out of nowhere.
The moment after the sound emerged, two figures quickly appeared, flickering. Undergoing the same experience, Terrance, feeling a sudden loss of gravity, clung to the wall with a lingering sense of fear, his eyes looking into the Saffron Gym.
That Sabrina, using her psychic power to throw us out
Terrance frowned. To be honest, he hadnt fully grasped the situation yet. Whether Kirlia accepted or rejected Sabrinas assistance, he wasnt too confident with his guess.
However, compared to the unknown Gallade, from an outsiders perspective, Terrance felt that if Kirlia evolved into Gardevoir and could return to normal, it would be a decent outcome.
Is this choice really okayand Sabrinas personality, its surprising how it changed at the drop of a hat
Terrance shook his head in resignation. Even if Kirlia refused, he wanted to request Sabrina for help. If Kirlia failed to evolve with the Dawn Stone, Sabrina could be a backup plan.
Although such an approach was impolite, when it comes to ones own situation, who would abandon a backup plan?
At the very least, Terrance could put aside his pride. With this double assurance, Kirlia wouldnt have to bear too much pressure in the upcoming experiences.
Kirliiia
Kirlia shook its head, indicating that it was not Terrances responsibility; it had made its own choice.
Terrance isnt Kirlia; he hasnt experienced what it has. Even as a Breeder, he cant truly empathize with its situation.
As a Pokmon with congenital defects, Kirlia was actually quite unwilling and resentful deep inside, unable to accept the fact that it has been deprived of its abilities.
If there was a possibility to reach the same heights by taking another path
This choice is the most in line with Kirlias mindset, allowing it to maintain its pride. It wants to prove, through its own efforts and in a unique way, to those who look down on it that different paths can also lead to miracles.
Well, forget it
Terrance sighed, and looked at the Mismagius floating beside him with a somewhat odd expression, a hint of seriousness flashing through his eyes.
Mismagius had been following by his side, and its hiding skills had greatly improved compared to the dreamwalking period. But even so, they were unexpectedly teleported outside by Sabrinas psychic power without any warning. This overwhelming ability made Terrance feel once again that he had underestimated Sabrina.
Can she really turn people into dolls Terrances face showed surprise. Compared to Sabrinas Pokmon, he felt that dealing with Sabrina herself was more challenging.
Sabrinas strength did not come from long-term training of Pokmon but from her own circumstances. She had an extraordinary understanding and affinity for Psychic-type Pokmon. This caused Sabrina to have a capital that far exceeded ordinary Trainers in controlling Psychic-type Pokmon.
Such a situation was mostly seen in Trainers at the level of Elite Four. A persons energy was limited, and raising too many Pokmon was a test for any Trainer. Most people could not manage to cover all aspects.
So, there were increasingly more Trainers specializing in one Pokmon or one type of Pokmon. However, this specialization also had obvious drawbacks. However, the drawbacks of such an approach are quite apparent. Due to the extreme specialization, there is a risk of being targeted by prepared opponents. Therefore, if a Trainers skill level hasnt reached a certain point, specialization could instead hinder them.
For the Elite Four or someone like Sabrina, specialization was making something perfect even more perfect.
Even the current Terrance had no intention of specializing. Firstly, he hadnt discovered any innate talent or affinity for a specific type. Secondly, he had many things to do now and didnt have the time to specialize in researching one type. A diverse Pokmon team would help him face various situations.
Its not that having a diverse team makes it impossible to become an Elite Four-level Trainer. Its just that Trainers specializing in one type are more emblematic. Being acknowledged as a master in the study of one type earns considerable respect and admiration i.e. they have a more distinctive style.
But in other words, reaching a certain level, a Trainer specializing in Fire-type Pokmon would definitely be able to train a new Fire-type Pokmon well. They could understand other Pokmon in the team through the experiences with that one Pokmon and apply their knowledge across the team.
This is something Trainers like Terrance lack. They need to continuously learn and deeply understand the newly captured Pokmon, investing more effort in the training process.
However, this also ensures that this type of Trainer has diverse combat capabilities when needed, and the diversity in the team can handle various opponents and situations in the wild.
