Chapter 175
175 Chapter 174: Sneak attack
Brrrr!
As if reacting to his actions the magic tower shivered fiercely as countless silver beams shot forward, all homing in on Damon!
Hmph!
Damon snorted disdainfully as his body shot back like a spear as the wind surged around him. His body darted from one location to the next continuously until there was nothing left stopping him and he vanished into the distance without getting hit once.
His escape was followed by resounding laughter as his eyes were on the unmoving body of the enemy city guard captain. Everyone else in the city watched in horror as the darkness slowly faded with Damon’s departure.
........
Whoosh!
Damon stepped out of the darkness and gazed at the city below the hill with a cruel look in his eyes. The levitating magic tower left him with a major headache as he wondered what would be the best thing to do right now.
His original plan was to kill the weakened red dragon but it seems impossible since he can’t even close.
.....
“I need to recover my strength first. There will be a lot more opportunities in the future” Damon muttered before turning his back and giving up on the hunt.
Since he already gave the team a certain amount of time to deal with their issues and reach the inheritance point, Damon didn’t have much time to spend here.
He left the city while considering how much trouble just one magic tower was to him. Now he couldn’t help but imagine what would happen if there were more towers, how does he plan to get close?
“Truly, invading kingdoms would be far harder than I have been made to believe” Damon commented as he thought of what it would feel like when invading kingdoms.
Flap!
His body faded into the darkness as he fluttered into the wind, vanishing entirely. If he wishes to regain his strength he would require his inheritance but first, he decided he needed to do something first. The ancestral dragon of Life and death!
Damon planned to claim his Sealed artifact before going for the inheritance.
.........
Back in the blood mountain, Blink sat in a cross-legged position while holding a yellow crystal and absorbing its powers. His eyes were wide open but they kept switching between silver and darkish-green light. The corruption at the events to this chest seemed to be glowing fiercely as he cultivated.
“We have cultivation resources in abundance which are twice as effective as what you are using right now. Yet you pick this ancient method of cultivation” Roselle said while gazing at Blink who was seated atop the corpse of a bull type magic beast. If one were to fly above them, the person would be stunned to realize that more than two dozen corpses littered around the area.
This beast wasn’t Blink’s first victim.
“The method is crude. I admit but it is also very effective. The refined cultivation materials bypass all the normal processes, diving directly into your sea of consciousness and nourishing your cultivation. But the old ways start from body refinement to cultivation nourishment. There are far more benefits, that’s why it’s slower” Blink said absentmindedly. His eyes kept peering towards the distance as if they were searching for the answers to the secrets of the world.
Huff!
Roselle exhaled as she gazed at Blink with strange emotions in her eyes. This kid gave off a dangerous vibe which no one his age should possess. It seemed like he had two different personalities. When he acts his age, he is extremely charming and attractive but when it’s time for the kid to get serious he has this dangerous aura that makes even a true blood that has lived for at least four centuries feel threatened.
Will he be a blessing to the death mage or a curse?
Boom!
A powerful shockwave erupted from Blink’s body, sending powerful shockwaves across the field and it slowly died down. At the center of the chaos was Blink seated in a cross-legged position with his eyes wide open.
He looked like a statue, not moving a muscle until after a few minutes. As soon as he blinked, it felt like his soul had returned to his body. His eyes twitched a bit before they returned to normal, completely losing the fierce light they once had.
“You finally made it to the warrior realm with this cultivation method. If you used the normal method, you would have been in the warrior realm a few weeks ago” Roselle said coldly as she stepped forward.
Swoosh!
Suddenly a figure blew towards her in the form of a silver flash and punched forward.
Bang!
Roselle’s eyes were left wide open as she watched the fist which landed on the tree beside her! The cracked and exploded instantly leaving her completely stunned. From what she remembered, Blink had a weak body and could only improve his strength using the power of death sealed within him. But right now he wasn’t using the power of death. Rather he was relying on sheer brute strength.
“What do you think?” Blink asked as he withdrew his fist slowly.
His eyes were calm yet empty as he asked the question, making one to wonder what went wrong with this kid.
“I see what you mean by it’s better now. It’s just shocking that a kid like you would know this much about cultivation. Something four-century-old true blood does not know about” Roselle said with a strange look in her eyes. One would think it’s fear but when they look deeper, they will realize it’s something more than just fear.
“My clan was always kept to itself and focused on the smaller detail of life. Outside world cultivators look at the grander scheme of things but forget the most important fundamental features of the cultivation journey” Blink responded casually as if he was stating a fact.
In his opinion, the world is always looking for shortcuts and by doing that they end up missing the most important part of cultivation. Even his master is no exception to this. He felt bad Damon was one of the few that knew nothing about true cultivation.
Crack!
Blink was going to speak but he heard something that sounded like a twig breaking. Roselle shot him an alarmed gaze but the best reaction she could get from him was a mere sigh.
“It’s only natural they make a move when my master is away” Blink chuckled as if he expected this already.
“Go back and alert the arm. Gather our forces and prepare to attack on my command” Blink said with a cold look on his face while his silver robe fluttered fiercely in the wind.
Hearing his words sent shivers down Roselle’s body. She wanted to argue against it but then she could remember Cassius Blood stating that a powerful army was hidden within this kid’s shadow. Also, his plan wasn’t necessarily bad. If this is a sneak attack then they needed someone to slow them down and who is more suited for the job than the fastest person in the blood mountain?
She finally realized they were treating Blink like a child and not the successor of the most powerful man in the world and his only disciple!
“Stay safe!” Roselle said with a stern look on her face.
“Hmph! They can’t put a scratch on me” Blink snorted disdainfully but he wore a small smile on his face, showing appreciation for her decisiveness and strong judgment.
Bang!
Roselle exploded into a blood mist and shot into the air, shooting towards the blood mountain.
“Quickly stop her!”
Someone screamed as countless magic arrays appeared above the trees and arrow attacks of various elements rained unit the sky but then a figure appeared above the clouds in silver robes fluttering fiercely against the wind.
“WHO DARES ATTACK MY BLOOD MOUNTAIN, ARE YOU NOT AFRAID OF DEATH?” Blink bellowed as countless spatial cracks spread across the entire sky.
The various arrow attacks struck the sky hard but were still unable to reach the woman hiding within the blood mist.
“Swallow!” Blink said coldly as the spatial cracks began absorbing the arrows until they completely swallowed them
Flap!
Blink threw his hand forward and the spatial cracks began firing arrows back at the army below.
Bang!
Bang!
Bang!
Blink stood like an immovable mountain, watching the chaos taking place below. His eyes calmly slid within his robes and pulled out a silver dagger.
Xiu!
The silver dagger shot down like a rocket, smashing into the face of an orc soldier.
Xiu!
Blink appeared atop the orc and the silver dagger in his hand. He quickly pulled out another dagger with his other hand, slitting the throat of the orc.
Swish!
His eyes darted around the small hundred man army and spotted an orc seated on a war pig and a cruel smile bloomed on his face!
The captain of this small army!
His eyes seemed focused but alarmed as well. He wasn’t the type to let down his guard. He strongly believes there is more to this invading army.
