Chapter 160: All The Girls Were Selected For Ah Yu
There was a reception before the building, and Lu Jingchen handed over the invitation card before he brought Mu Siyin into the building. The latter ducked her head as she followed the man.
The hall was huge and had two floors. Lights were gleaming everywhere, and a joyful atmosphere filled the air.
“We should sit in a corner.”
Lu Jingchen and Mu Siyin had arrived late, so the hall was almost crowded with people now.
Mu Siyin nodded her head lightly as Lu Jingchen pulled her towards a corner.
The only empty space in the hall was by the railing on the second floor. Huo Sikai was standing there dressed in a fashionable dark blue suit when he spotted Mu Siyin and Lu Jingchen. As they walked out of his sight, he could not help but let out a hiss.
That woman… Why did she look so much like little Beibei’s little Siyin?
However, she did not look like she was Mu Siyin either.
Huo Sikai blinked and turned around. A group of people was standing behind him, including Shi Beiyu.
“Little Beibei, are you sure you didn’t bring little Siyin along tonight?”
Shi Beiyu, who was swirling the wine in his glass elegantly, stopped when he heard that. Then, he looked up and replied in a crisp, clear voice. “No.”
Noticing that Shi Beiyu was in a bad mood, Huo Sikai shook his head. He then sighed and said, “I would be elated for three days straight if my old man threw me such a huge banquet to find me a wife!”
Upon saying so, he changed his words. “No, I’ll be happy for three months!”
Shi Ran scoffed when he heard this. “What a good-for-nothing! Haven’t you seen women before?”
Huo Sikai snorted lightly. “What do you know? All the women here are from the most promising families in the capital, including those whom we don’t normally see. You’ll get to see them all!”
Shi Mo was usually unconcerned about such matters, but he spoke this time. “You can watch them to your satisfaction tonight.”
Leng Jiuchen placed down his wine glass and said disinterestedly, “You can also bring whoever you want home.”
Huo Sikai giggled. “But Old Master Shi is picking a wife for his precious grandson tonight. I can only watch from aside.”
Shi Beiyu snorted. “No one would think you’re a mute if you keep quiet.”
Huo Sikai laughed shamelessly. “If little Siyin learned of tonight, she’ll definitely make a scene about it. That’s why you need to find a way to shut my mouth.”
Shi Ran had always taken Shi Beiyu’s side. So when he heard this, he instantly lifted his hand and pointed at Huo Sikai. “My brother is just here for the Old Master’s birthday party. He’s not here to pick a wife.”
Huo Sikai’s mouth twitched. “Then who is this full hall of young ladies for? For you?”
“You really deserve a good beating! Jeez, why isn’t the little spice bomb here? This is such an important occasion! You’re too hard on your blood sister, Brother Jiu.”
Leng Jiuchen grunted softly. “All the women here were selected for Ah Yu. Why should she be here?”
Shi Ran immediately placed his fists together and gave Leng Jiuchen a salute. “Wise choice, General!”
The lot was engaged in a deep conversation when someone knocked on their door. Following that, Mother Shi walked in elegantly. She was dressed in a light blue-colored Qipao.
“I knew you guys were hiding here.”
Upon Mother Shi’s arrival, Huo Sikai, Shi Ran, and Shi Mo rushed to greet her. Only Leng Jiuchen and Shi Beiyu remained at their spots.
Mother Shi smiled back at them. “Take a seat, everyone. You too, Sikai. Ah Mo and Ah Yu, come downstairs with me.”
Shi Mo nodded his head. “Yes, Auntie.”
When Shi Beiyu did not bulge, Mother Shi frowned and said, “Hurry, Ah Yu! The guests are all here, but you’ve yet to show your face. Where are your manners?”
Shi Beiyu replied indifferently, “You both can head down first. I’ll go down to wish Grandpa a Happy Birthday once the feast has started.”
Mother Shi clenched the silk napkin in her hands. She was obviously trying to suppress her anger as she said, “It’s still early. Come down and greet the guests first.”
