Online Game: Don’t Heal the Others

Chapter 138 - The Paladin Order

After the first auction held by the Treasure Pavilion, Tianlong City witnessed its second peak of gamers number, which also promoted many gamers to decide to stay in the city as they thought it so well-known.

Xiaofeng was in no hurry since it was still early and the monsters were yet to launch an attack against the city. Besides, he was now one level higher than Ximen Chuixue and would not be caught up with in a short time. After rethinking for a while, he targeted the guard of the City of Gloom again for the gaining of the artifact before.

Thus, he went to the front-line of the war and wanted to ask Captain Bolton for help.

“What? Captain Bolton has been called back to the temple?”

Xiaofeng not only failed to find Captain Bolton but also failed to find any paladin there. All the paladins had been called back and there were only imperial soldiers.

Helplessly, Xiaofeng returned Tianlong City and went to the branch of the temple.

“Pay my respect to Your Excellency.”

There were many gamers in Tianlong City carrying out story-line missions. Xiaofeng learned that after he submitted his mission about City of Gloom, the missions of other gamers were automatically completed as well.

As Xiaofeng approached the main shrine, he suddenly became expressionless when seeing Bishop Kaiser coming up to him with a smile.

“Your Excellency, we’ve been waiting for you for quite a long while. Let me show you the way.”

Kaiser smiled brightly and took Xiaofeng toward the shrine, which surprised many gamers around. “Isn’t him the bishop of the Temple of Light?”

Xiaofeng realized that a mission would be assigned to him again, but since he was free this forenoon, he did not mind taking another mission. Besides, he was not sure whether Captain Bolton could sweep over the Mist of War, which would cause gamers’ Health Points drop by a certain percent and might frustrate even the BOSS in Myth.

“Ladies and gentlemen, this is his excellency, Mr. Archbishop. He is an adventurer but was given the title by Goddess of Light. He went through the Mist of War and found the City of Gloom. Later, he will lead our Paladin Order to adventure in the City of Gloom.”

Bishop Kaiser spoke up to the Paladin Order lining in the main shrine. There were about 1000 of them, and they were all in silver armors with a magnificent aura.

Captain Bolton, as their head, was a Golden BOSS at level 30 just like the two squadron leaders. There were 10 team leaders in the order who were Silver BOSS at level 30 while even the ordinary paladins were little monsters at level 30 with their attribute as powerful as that of ordinary BOSS.

In one word, it was a Paladin Order with terrifying power. Xiaofeng had no idea how Bishop Kaiser had managed to bring these men together.

“Adventure in the City of Gloom? Good idea!”

On hearing Kaiser’s words, Xiaofeng agreed immediately with pleasure. With an army behind him, he no longer worried that Captain Bolton could not defeat the guard of the City of Gloom.

“Well, let’s get started now.”

The paladins all looked serious in silence, and there only were the sounds of armor rubbing armor. Captain Bolton remained silent and looked as if a big war was coming.

Xiaofeng thought that everyone looked so serious because of the presence of Bishop Kaiser. He was right; when Kaiser left, the atmosphere immediately became cheerful.

“Bolton, don’t look so serious.”

Captain Bolton answered with a bitter expression, “Mr. Archbishop, you look at ease because you’re an adventurer fearless of death, but the mission may put us in danger. Once we run into the den of Dark Legion, we will be dead.”

“Don’t worry. You won’t get into trouble with me there.” Xiaofeng was not joking. Holy light could recover the Health Points of a group by a certain percent; besides, their group was strong, so, they would get killed unless they asked for.

“I hope so.”

Captain Bolton sighed and thought the mission really tough. The two squadron leaders, a man and a woman, remained silent, but Xiaofeng could tell from their expressions that they did not trust him and that they did not speak it out because of their good manner as paladins.

Xiaofeng did not take it into his heart but led them to Sunset Town through Transmission Formation. After that, the army headed toward Dark Land at a high speed.

In numbers, the paladins marched forward like a huge silver arrow, which attracted many gamers’ attention.

Xiaofeng looked proud at Paladin Order’s high marching speed. Though everyone was riding an advanced mount, he left them all behind, Captain Bolton included, because his mount, Xiaoxue was even faster than their mounts when it spread its wings.

“Mr. Archbishop, I heard that the unicorns in Bright Mountain were in a riot possibly because their princess was missing.”

Captain Bolton caught up with Xiaofeng and said while staring at Xiaoxue suspiciously.

“You’re mistaken.”

Xiaofeng’s face darkened. He touched the fur on Xiaoxue’s head, signaling it to fold its wings. Holy Light Unicorns were divine animals with attributes of light and possessed high status in the Temple of Light. Xiaofeng did not want to get into trouble for taking their princess as his mount.

Soon, the army arrived in Dark Land. Because Xiaofeng was familiar with the place, he led the paladins outside the Mist of War.

“It’s Mist of War! I heard that Mist of War would come with darkness. I’m afraid that many dangers are lying inside.”

“Set up the Transmission Formation. Bishops are eager to get in, and only they could drive the Mist of War away.”

Both the two squadron leaders took out a jade-like stone slab and connect them together.

Xiaofeng was surprised. He was familiar with this kind of stone slabs, which could be used to set up a simple Transmission Formation, and he even had a pile of them in his backpack. He dug them out from the bottom of the lake in Muguang Forest.

He did not expect that the paladins would take some slabs with them, and from their conversation, he realized that not all the vanguards of Temple of Light were in the Paladin Order and that some bishops would come.

Might because of their profession and their higher status, the bishops could not travel as fast as paladins and thus chose to travel through Transmission Formation.

The Transmission Formation that the two squadron leaders set was not big but about three square meters, and after they finished the setting, five bishops wearing red robes appeared with a flash of light, and one of them, Bishop Renault, was Xiaofeng’s old acquaintance.

“Your Excellencies, please start the purification.”

Going direct to the point, Captain Bolton went forward to the five bishops and asked them to purify the Mist of War as they needed an internal channel.

All in a serious look, the five bishops went forward by turns. As their staffs gave out bright light, they cleared a huge block of land in the Mist of War, where the mist broke away as if they had melted under fire again and again.

“Bishop Renault, do you know what’s this?”

While others were focused on the clearing of mist, Xiaofeng took Bishop Renault to the other side and uttered the question after taking out a stone slab used to make Transmission Formation.

“Well, this is a quite ancient slab used to make Transmission Formation. Where did you get it?”

“I found it on the road,” Xiaofeng answered casually.

“There must be treasures where you picked it up because the Transmission Formation made of this slab was not used to teleport people but some object with huge energy. Transmission Formation made of normal stone could not bear the energy and would lead to a failure of the transport and might even calamitously caused the activation of the transported object due to the power of the space.”

“What? Are you sure?”

Xiaofeng felt surprised. “The huge Transmission Formation under the Muguang Lake, which level of the object did it teleport?”

Xiaofeng suddenly thought of the clay sculpture. “Was it the clay sculpture that it teleported?”

The clay sculpture was the first thing that had made Xiaofeng feel threatened, thus, he had a deep impression of it.

The five bishops, like shining light bulbs, cleared the Mist of War so fast that as they went inside, a huge space was cleared and the Mist of War all broke away like snow melting away. The Paladin Order followed the bishops and did not attract too much attention because the gamers were not around after their missions were automatically completed.

However, the steps they took forward were too slow. Back when Xiaofeng entered the Mist of War last time, it took him an hour to pass it, therefore, if the paladins did not speed up, it would be noon when they passed it.

“Do his excellencies not have mounts? It would be faster if they ride mounts,” Xiaofeng could not help but ask. The Mist of War would break away once it met holy light. As the paladins did not really enter the Mist of War yet, they could ride mounts at the moment.

“It’s hard for them to clear little by little, and they would not be able to take it if they speed up unless Goddess of Light would come to help.”

Bishop Renault answered, gasping. In fact, though the five bishops took turns to clear the way, they could only hold on for several minutes at a time and have to take a rest after that.

“You’re so weak… Oh, no, I mean, it’s too much for you to suffer and I’m so moved. So how about you teach me this skill and I can lend a hand later?”

Xiaofeng changed his words quickly and decided to learn the skill.

“Well, it sounds like a good idea.”

Xiaofeng did not expect that Bishop Renault would agree to teach him so quickly. The bishop thought for a while, nodded, and pointed to Xiaofeng with his staff, and at the same time, a system prompt rang.

“Hey! You’ve learned the life skill—Expulsion Skill!”

Expulsion Skill (Primary: 0/100)

Effects: invalidate the sustained effects of magics, status, or skills.

Cooldown time: 0

Consumption of Mana Points: 50, and under continuous usage, one’s Mana Points would be decreased by 1 percent per second.

It was a nice skill and could invalidate sustained skills, such as Curse, Burning Ice, and Blood Bleeding, and it could even invalidate a BUFF. Its only disadvantage was that it would consume too much Mana Points. While holy light would only consume 30 points at a time, it would consume 50 and would continue to consume by a certain percent.

Therefore, it was so great of the bishops to hold on for several minutes, which indicated that their speed of mana regeneration was very fast.

“Let me help you.”

Xiaofeng went forward with much satisfaction and replaced the bishop in front of him to clear the mist. He raised therapeutic scepter so high as if he were lifting the sun. With his move, the Mist of War broke away at once, and Xiaofeng’s Mana Points also decreased quickly.

Xiaofeng used Water for Purification. Though both at a decrease of one percent, Mana Points were different from Health Points as Xiaofeng could regenerate the later if he lost them, and even if his Health Points were decreased by one percent per second, he could hold on for half an hour.

However, Xiaofeng was not able to regenerate Mana Points, and at most, he could use Water for Purification twice, which meant that he could only hold on for several minutes.

“Xiaoxue, run!”

Xiaofeng was not so stupid to walk by himself; he summoned Xiaoxue and rode on it.

“Your Excellency, be careful!”

“Hurry up and follow him!”

Captain Bolton and others were amazed and followed Xiaofeng immediately. Though none of them knew what kind of danger they would might, they sped up led by Xiaofeng.

“There is a little BOSS! But I’ll leave it to you.”

Xiaofeng’s voices sounded vaguely. Following Xiaofeng, Captain Bolton and others ran into a Undead Spider, a normal BOSS at level 30. It was huge but too weak under the power of the Paladin Order. As the paladins ran over, it was crashed.

Though Xiaofeng only held on for several minutes, the space he cleared was much bigger than that cleared by the five bishop adding together. The mission progressed fast under his lead.

“What happened, your Excellency?”

While Xiaofeng was gasping after he was replaced, Bishop Renault went to him and uttered the question as he found Xiaofeng in a hurry.

“Nothing. By the way, could you please teach me some other skills?” Xiaofeng shook his head and wanted to learn more skills.
