Naval Gacha System: It's Time To Monopolize The Seven Seas!

Chapter 98: | 098 | War For Liberation Part 17: Stray Magus

"W-What!? How is this possible?" The Magus questioned with horror deeply rooted in his voice. His work of art, titans beyond the realms of those who had no magic could handle, fell in mere moments before his eyes.

It was the unexpected reality that he never thought of partaking in.

But it was the current reality he dwelled on, and there was nothing he could do about it. Adapting and trying to survive after his failed attempts to annihilate his adversaries was his only option.

"The moment I cast by the spell. It was fairly clear that they would be coming after me." The Magus mumbled to himself after calming his heart and mind down.

While he'd prefer to use spatial transmission to get out of the island after failing to destroy his adversaries with the spell. Unfortunately, the price of such a grandiose spell was his entire mana pool.

This practically made him akin to a normal human after casting the spell, which was a significant downside of the spell.

'I have to leave this place.' He quietly thought to himself while walking towards the direction where the town of Servusarator dwelled. He could have them protect him until some of his mana returned, which was the only path of survival he had in mind.

With this in mind, the Magus determined himself to walk the vast distances between the western fortification and the town of Servusarator.

Meanwhile, in the governor's manor in the central region of the plantation colony.

Laplace noticed Mercedes walking towards her with a radio in her hand. The dragoness raised her eyebrows, wanting to know what Abraham wanted from her after causing such a tremendous explosion.

"Lady Laplace... The fleet admiral has called. Some stray magus summoned gargantuan behemoths near the western shores of Point A." Mercedes calmly reported to the dragoness and continued.

"Most of the towering monsters have been destroyed, but the stray Magus hasn't been captured or terminated. The fleet admiral wishes for you to take care of the stray Magus."

Hearing the words of her second in command, Laplace nodded in understanding and thought about the matter given to her. A stray Magus was unexpected, but it wasn't too surprising.

Perhaps, the stray Magus was a colleague of the Master Magus she had previously buried six feet underground.

Nevertheless, the task given by Abraham was right up her alley, so she had no reason to reject it.

"Understood, I'll accept the task." Laplace softly said to Mercedes, who merely nodded in understanding. The dragoness then continued with a calm smile and a pleasant voice.

"Mercedes, take care of the manor while I'm gone. Assure that the governor stays alive until my return."

Mercedes looked at the white-haired lady and nodded once again. It seems that a stray Magus will be hunted by a dragon. How unfortunate... To meet such a ruthless fate.

Laplace grinned at her second in command and disappeared from the spot. Silence soon shrouded the manor as the Special Task Force continued guarding the premises.

After the dragoness left the manor, Mercedes opened the radio and reported that the dragoness had accepted the task of the fleet admiral. She would be handling the stray Magus that managed to escape.

Back to Laplace, she was sprinting through the plains, heading towards the western shore where the incident took place. She was moving at an incredibly rapid pace, slowly creating a sound barrier in front of her.

And it didn't take long before she pierced through it.

*Bang!*

It only took fifteen minutes for Laplace to arrive on the western shores where the combined-offensive fleet of the United Navy, Spear of Longinus, could be seen in the distance.

She looked at it with amazement as it looked spectacularly different from any fleets she had seen before her arrival in the sea region of Terra. But she wasn't here to enjoy the view, but to investigate the crime scene.

Laplace turned her gaze towards the massive corpses of hardened golems scattered throughout the plains. It seems that they were bombarded by the superior firepower of the fleet, causing them to be promptly destroyed.

But that wasn't what was important as Laplace recognized the spell used by the stray Magus.

'Imperial Golem.' She wasn't ignorant of the spells used by her adversaries and rivals. The Imperial Golem was an impressive spell that could summon gargantuan golems that towered over the skies.

Their numbers were highly dependent on the mana of the caster, which meant that a Master Magus could perhaps summon a hundred of them.

However, there was a big downside to such a spell. It costs the caster's entire mana pool. Quite a dangerous price to pay, especially for a Magus. Mana was their lifeline, practically the fuel to their magicraft.

Without it, they would be sitting ducks. Akin to ordinary humans who wouldn't be able to do much against physically strong opponents.

"The fact that he used such a spell against the Marines. It seems that he had underestimated the firepower of the United Navy." Laplace muttered to herself and continued with a sigh.

"They always underestimate those without mana. But perhaps, this will be their wake-up call to one single fact. The United Navy isn't to be underestimated."

At any rate, as said before, she wasn't here to observe the scenery or talk about the foolishness of her adversaries. She needed to find out the status of the stray Magus and the corpses of the titans. It was fairly clear.

The stray Magus was significantly weakened. Even an ordinary human could get a punch to the bastard's face. And this was a piece of good news.

'This makes things easier.' The dragoness thought with a smirk emerging on her face. Abraham had given her easy prey, and she'll take her time in hunting it.

"I guess it's time to catch up with the stray," Laplace mumbled and disappeared from the spot in an instant.

Finding a single Magus on a massive island would be hard, even for the dragoness. However, the stray Magus could only head towards a single spot on the island. The one place that could be considered safe for someone like him.

The town of Servusarator.

In the meantime, the stray Magus walked through the dreaded plains of Servusarator. There was still a vast distance between him and the two, but he was fairly far from the beaches of the western fortification.

This should give enough time for him to escape the clutches of his adversaries.

"But walking such a large distance is pretty troublesome." He muttered under his breath despite the morning breeze calming his body. Exhaustion was seeping in at a faster rate than ever before.

He wouldn't last long if he continued his pace, which meant that he needed to rest.

But taking his time to rest was impacting his survival. After all, they were coming after him and they would probably get closer the moment he stopped moving.

With this in mind, the stray Magus had no choice but to keep moving even though his body was aching along with exhaustion knocking into his mind.

However... As he took one step forward into salvation, he noticed the air surrounding him change. It was barely noticeable, but noticeable nonetheless. Obviously, there was something amiss.

The stray Magus furrowed his eyebrows as he prepared himself. His grimoire materialized before him as he was willing to scrape his remaining mana to meet the threat coming after him.

Seconds passed by, and only silence met him.

He was confused and wondered whether or not was falling into madness from exhaustion. It was hard to confirm such a theory, and perhaps there was no need for confirmation.

After all, behind him was her.

The dragoness.

His instincts screamed at him to run away as his spine shivered from horror. It was as though death was knocking on his doorstep, wanting to come in. His breathing became ragged as he slowly turned his head to the rear.

It was then he saw her... A gorgeous white-haired lady with black horns and a dark draconic tail.

This was the source of his terror.

And it was understandable.

Since she was the Dragon of the Revolting Tide, the Destroyer.

"Dragon... It seems that they sent you to kill a small fry like me. Should I consider this an honor?" The stray Magus wanted to maintain his sanity by speaking in equal terms to the dragoness.

But the two of them were never equal, for he was nothing but an ordinary man in the eyes of the Dragon.

"They sent me to take out the pest that bothered them. Don't think too much about it. They are more concentrated on liberation than this so-called honor of yours." The white-haired dragoness replied with arrogance.

The stray Magus furrowed his eyebrows but didn't utter a single word. It seems that he was delusional as to think what he had done mattered in the big picture. He hadn't even brought down a single one of them, so what he did was for nothing.

'I should have escaped when I had the chance.' The stray Magus quietly thought to himself as if accepting his inevitable death. But out of nowhere, he swiftly cast his lightning spell to the dragoness, who deflected it with a flick of her fingers.

*Bam!*

Moments later, the dragoness disappeared in front of the stray Magus and emerged beside him. Without any hesitation or delay, she swung her pale arms and immediately decapacitated the stray Magus.

His head fell to the ground, rolling forward before getting squashed by the dragoness's leather heels. His body burned in crimson flames, making sure that no pieces of the stray Magus were left alive.

The stray Magus died, in a mere instant, by the United Navy's executioner.
