Naval Gacha System: It's Time To Monopolize The Seven Seas!

Chapter 175: | 175 | Magical Advancements

In the following days after the UN Assembly in the command center of the Port of Dawn, Hermona and her entourage took their time exploring the entirety of the port. They were mostly interested about how people lived together rather than the grand sceneries scattered throughout the city.

Beastfolks and humans in the Port of Dawn were relatively living well. They each had houses of their own, cars, and even families. Because of how sustainable the times were, population was booming as newborns were being birth everyday. Their average lifespan had also become longer than usual.

Hermona wanted to learn about the ways of the United Navy and understood that economic stability along with cultural exchanges was significant to achieve her dream of unity followed by the liberation of all sapient life.

On the other hand, though... Abraham was dealing with the aftermath of the UN Assembly. Many of their discussions during the conference were being written up by various intelligence officers and specialist. The marking of the UN Dollars as the currency of the allied islands and the United Navy was also on its way.

With each passing moment, management was becoming complicated for Abraham. Governing a city while also commanding a military wasn't an easy task. It was a complicated one that needed caution as to not make any unnecessary mistakes that would cost more paperwork.

'I should separate the United Navy from the government entity governing the islands under my authority. With this, it wouldn't be too troublesome for me and wouldn't give me too much work for way less time.' Abraham quietly thought to himself.

'But the creation of a government entity under my control should be for later. For now, I'll have to watch her.' He gazed forward and saw Laplace practicing runic engraving. Beside her was the Director of the R&D Department, teaching her about the ways of magicraft.

It was quite interesting to see someone with no mana and has no capabilities of magic teaching someone else the art of magicraft. A somewhat unique scenario that might be nothing more but fantasy for the Magus.

"Hmm... It doesn't look right." Laplace furrowed her eyebrows, gazing at her runic enchantments on a single pen. While the form of her runes were correct, it was akin to a child trying to scribble a syntax in a piece of paper. It was too crude.

"Writing isn't an easy subject, Lady Laplace. But with patience, it shouldn't take long before you perfect it." Beside her was the Director with his hands on thumbs up, supporting the dragoness in her endeavors in magicraft. He had also learn a lot from her and realized what magic was despite having no mana.

"Though, It's surprising for our mighty dragoness to be so bad in writing." Abraham stepped forward and smirked at Laplace, who simply pouted from his words. She looked away from him and muttered under her breath. "A mighty dragon doesn't need to write."

"However, what is a mighty dragon that can't write?" He countered with a smile, earning a glare from the silver-haired dragoness. He shut his mouth up, not wanting to meet her wrath. None would want to be smack on the head by the dragoness.

"At any rate, I'll help you with writing." Abraham glanced at the pencil with the scribble-like runic runes and realized the complexities of magic. Inscribing runes to an object doesn't simply require imagination. It needed precision.

Unlike a spell-circle, which was entirely made up from someone's imagination. An object has a real physical shadow over reality. It wasn't something that could be manipulated through imagination. As such, runic inscription was as complicated as calligraphy of his former world.

Laplace wasn't against with Abraham helping and opened up some space for him. He crouched beside her and took out another pen to be inscribed with by the dragoness. "Let's handle this with calm and patience. A failure doesn't simply mean its bad. It means that you still have room to grow."

Abraham remarked while holding her fingers with his. "You simply need to guide your fingers into following a shape you want to make." He guided her fingers as it began inscribing mana into the pen below them.

The runic inscription was being written, slowly but surely, by the two. Laplace felt Abraham's soft yet stern guiding hand firmly leading her to victory. It was a satisfying feeling for the dragoness, and made her feel like a love-stricken teenager.

It didn't take long before the runic writing of the pen to be completed. Abraham looked at it with pride as the runes weren't that much different from the image portrayed by the R&D Department. He then glanced at the Director and asked. "Is this enough?"

"Yes, Sir! It's beyond enough. This is incredibly well done." The Director observed it with scrutiny, inspecting all of its nook and cranny. After investigating it for a short while, he gave it to the fleet admiral and uttered. "You should test it, Fleet Admiral. Can you inscribe another pen through it?"

In the first runic pen was two syntax with clear commands. The first was the absorption of surrounding mana in miniscule quantities while the second was the inscription of such mana into a precision liquid for inscribing more runes.

With the pen around, normal or manaless humans would be able to inscribe runes into object without that much of a problem. It was a powerful and revolutionary took, especially for the United Navy who was merely stepping into the entrance of magicraft.

Abraham raised his eyebrows, but accepted the runic pen without much of a hesitation. He looked at it with intrigue and wondered how it felt to wield magic in his fingers. He soon glanced at the next pen and began inscribing the same runic spells into it.

His work concluded faster than the dragoness and appeared more well-written than Laplace's. The runes of the following pen glowed with the same brilliance as the first, signifying that it was working well.

Laplace observed the first work of her Lover and looked at the Director before asking. "Can I ask this pen?" The Director raised his eyebrows, confused by her words. "Couldn't you wield magic without the need for a pen, why would you nee-"

He couldn't continue his words as his eyes were met with a scary smile from the dragoness. He could only cough and nod his head in agreement. "The first work of the fleet admiral is yours, Lady Laplace. It looks great by your side."

Abraham merely sighed, though a smile remained on his face. He gave the pen to the Director and uttered to the old man. "This is for you. With it by your side, you should be able to create more runic spells than you had imagined. But be careful in testing it."

"It wouldn't want the R&D Department to be up in flames by the next morning." He threw them a word of caution as wielding magic recklessly might bring up some troublesome problems. He wouldn't want to handle them, especially with the upcoming operation against the Colonial Dominion of Terra.

"Understood, Fleet Admiral. The R&D Department will not disappoint you!" The Director straightened his back and saluted to Abraham before running off with the runic pen. Looking at the back of the old scientist, a smile threatened to appear on the middle-aged man's face.

After the Director disappeared from his sight, Abraham turned his attention to the dragoness beside him. She seemed to hold his first runic pen dearly. He tightly hugged her from behind and whispered onto her ears.

"It has been a while since we've spent some time together, Laplace." Hearing his words, Laplace's ears slightly flushed with red as she softly responded. "How about a date?" Abraham smiled after hearing her and held her hand tightly with his firm fingers, walking away with a flustered dragoness.

...

A few days have passed since the creation of the first runic pen and the technologies that the R&D Department were spewing have now numbered in a dozen. The most important creation following the runic pen was the handheld runic printer.

With the handheld runic printer, one can simply print a runic spell into an object without much of a problem. It was a lot easier than the runic pen, which required a significant amount of calligraphy skills. The syntax was turned into an image to be imprinted by it, which gave birth to the technology.

Naturally, through the handheld runic printer, the first thing that R&D Department handled was energy production. According to a few scientist, a spell could produce power much more efficiently than a fission nuclear reactor.

Whether it'd be conjuring steam for energy production or actually summoning a lightning bolt, the possibilities were endless.

Naturally, the second thing that the R&D Department handled was weapon development. Anti-Magus Technologies were what they needed and the most problematic ability of these mages were their teleporting capabilities.

With this in mind, the R&D Department built an actual spatial-stabilizing generator. This was but a prototype, but according to various theories cooked up by the crazy people in that department. The SS Generator was supposed to stabilize the spatial field of a surrounding area.

A teleporting spell would usually create a dissonance between the target and the origin location. If the spell couldn't create a dissonance in the target location, the teleporting spell might fail and spew out its caster back into where they come from.

However, they had to test it first as to see whether the technology was real or not.
