Chapter 232
Sell her talents but not herself?
Ji Qingqing’s righteous words made Lu Lixing laugh out loud exasperatedly. “What talents can you sell? Rolling about on the bed?”
(He’s saying that she’s a restless sleeper at night.)
Ji Qingqing glared at Lu Lixing. “Looks like Mr. Lu isn’t very satisfied with the way I sleep. Since that’s the case,” she forced out a smile, “it’s getting late. I wish to rest for a while. Mr. Lu, you should go back to your room and rest first.”
With her checkmate move, the smile on Lu Lixing’s face vanished completely.
The living room was at the center of the suite and at the two ends were the guest rooms. It had a dining room and kitchen and the suite was decorated in a homely manner by the production crew.
Lu Lixing didn’t move and surveyed the room. “Are there even couples who sleep in separate rooms?”
There was a camera at the corner of the study table and another one near the corner beside the sofa. Lu Lixing glanced at them. They were all powered off.
“We’ll only be a couple starting from tomorrow.”
Lu Lixing removed his jacket and went to the balcony to look outside. Then he turned around and replied to Ji Qingqing, “We’re currently husband and wife so all the more we shouldn’t be sleeping in separate rooms.”
Ji Qingqing pursed her lips. “Even so, we’re still fake husband and wife. It’s not real.”
“…Shall I take out the marriage certificate to let you see if it’s real or not?”
Ji Qingqing muttered, “Well, I really ‘don’t know’ who was the one who originally said they’re doing it for the sake of Grandpa’s health…”
Just as Lu Lixing was about to reply, the doorbell sounded.
Ji Qingqing went to open it, and it was Chen Shuyi and his wife.
“President Chen, why have you come here? Come in!”
Chen Shuyi had one arm intimately around Lin Zhen as they walked in. He smiled. “You don’t have to address me as President Chen. Just like Lixing, it’s fine for you to also call me Shuyi. Let me introduce you to her, this is my wife. Since she’s older than you, you can call her sister. You don’t have to be polite with us.”
Saying that he lowered his head and spoke to Lin Zhen, “Zhenzhen, she’s the one that I mentioned to you before, Ji Qinqing— Lu Lixing’s fiance.”
Lin Zhen studied Ji Qingqing from top to bottom and warmly extended her hand to her. “Miss Ji, I’ve heard much about you.”
“Sister Lin Zhen, don’t be so formal. You can just call me Qingqing.”
Lu Lixing walked out of the room. “Why have the both of you come here?”
Chen Shuyi smiled. “I’ve finished packing over on my side so I came over to see if there was anything you needed help with.”
“My assistant has already handled it all for me so there’s nothing else to help with.” Noticing Chen Shuyi repeatedly winking at him, Li Lixing resigned himself. “Come, sit down.”
The few of them sat down and began chatting casually.
“We haven’t sat down and chatted like this in a very long while.” Lin Zhen glanced at Ji Qingqing and then to Lu Lixing. “The three of us are old classmates, though we usually don’t contact each other much. But since when did you have a fiance? Why didn’t you share the news with us?”
“I intended to tell you both before we started preparing for the marriage.”
“Marriage?”
Lu Lixing nodded. “Recently Grandpa has been picking the wedding date. It shouldn’t take too long. At most, it’ll be during the year-end.”
With Lu Lixing’s direct confirmation and explanation, Chen Shuyi let out a sigh of relief. He loosely draped his arm around Lin Zhen’s shoulder and smiled. “You also know Old Lu is very strict with this. Weddings like this are a once in a lifetime significant event, so, of course, you have to plan it seriously.”
Lin Zhen nodded. Her previous suspicions had all been swept away. She smiled and looked at Ji Qingqing. Her attitude had become friendlier by quite a bit. “Qingqing, I hope you don’t mind. Previously, I heard some rumors so I had some misunderstandings about you. My apologies.”
“Rumors?” Ji Qingqing had previously listened to Qin Yue and didn’t look at the posts and the Weibo accounts that talked about her as they would affect her mood. As a result, she had no idea of what all those rumors on the Internet said.
