Chapter 29: Ask
"Halo, Isabel," David said, greeting her in a light tone.
He couldn't remember the last time he had spok to her, but that time Isabel had spok first.
"David!" The woman greeted him as well. "Do you live in this building?" She also asked, making David show a strange expression.
It seemed that she hadn't ev guessed that he was Audrey's younger brother.
Or maybe she guessed but didn't try to come right out and say it.
"This is my apartmt," David replied, pointing at the door beside which Isabel stood.
The latter finally seemed to understand.
"So you're Dr. Audrey's younger brother," she said, showing a surprised expression again.
Of course, the studts would call David's older sister Dr. Audrey because she did have that title.
Maybe next year she will get the title of Professor.
"Yes..." David nodded to Isabel.
"It seems that you were in her class, I don't know where she is now, but I also forgot to bring the key, so I can't op this door," he said.
Isabel's expression became strange wh she heard that.
Actually, she was also a little hesitant to ter the apartmt if it made her alone in the apartmt with Audrey's younger brother who turned out to be David.
Ev before meeting David, she had planned to go home several times.
However, she did come on important business, which was why she was still waiting here.
Meanwhile, David looked at the watch in his hand. It was almost pm now.
"Honestly, I don't know wh Audrey is coming home either," he continued, trying to keep talking. "However, since she didn't ask you to come home, she should be coming home soon, so let's wait. I'm actually curious as to why a freshman like you would come to the lecturer's house on your first night of class. I'm sure nothing has be learned in your class yet."
Although David did not ask directly, he said that he was curious about the reason for her visit.
This was something that Isabel seemed hesitant to answer.
She seemed to be wondering if she needed to tell David.
It wasn't that this was something difficult to say, but there was really no need to say it.
"You don't have to say it," David added as he saw her expression.
Appartly, right after David said that, Isabel suddly said, "I want to consult on choosing three majors at once, right now it's only two."
"Are you serious?" David was somewhat incredulous after hearing Isabel's answer.
Of course, she was a very smart studt, but as far as David was concerned, quite a lot of studts ded up giving up wh going to college with two majors at once.
Isabel actually wanted three, and it seemed that all of them were scice-related majors.
She was practically complicating her own life.
Determined like this, it's no wonder that Audrey thinks she's important.
"I'm sure I can because I like it," Isabel replied, smiling slightly.
David shook his head, choosing not to commt.
After that, he took out his cell phone and called Audrey.
He thought it was necessary to ask wh he would be home in front of Isabel so that the latter could wait more quietly.
"Sis, where are you now? Wh are you coming home?" David asked.
"I'm already on my way, wait about 30 minutes," Audrey replied.
"30 minutes? Are you out of town?" David wondered.
The traffic at this hour was usually very smooth, it shouldn't take up to 30 minutes to get from any d of Paris to this apartmt, as long as it was completely within the city.
"It's work," Audrey replied without elaborating before disconnecting the phone.
This time, David turned on his phone's speaker, so Isabel could hear it.
"Are you sure you want to keep waiting?" David asked her.
"Yes," she replied.
After that conversation, there seemed to be nothing more to talk about with the woman.
David was silt and ded up leaning against the opposite wall, thinking what he needed to do next while playing with his cell phone.
He had two questions now. Did he need to try to get her heart like his power wanted? And if so, what steps did he need to take?
Unlike him, Isabel preferred to read one of his books.
Probably about 4 minutes after they had not spok, David suddly felt a gaze from Isabel.
He spontaneously looked at her and it surprised Isabel because she thought David would not look at her. Her gaze quickly returned to her book, seeming nothing strange at all, like she was just glancing at David to confirm if he was still standing opposite her.
However, David was sure she wanted to pay atttion to him.
This kind of situation probably wouldn't happ in high school because he was the inconspicuous type.
In university, he became very conspicuous because of Jane.
And ev without that, he should be very conspicuous in Isabel's eyes now that they were alone together here, there was really no one else.
"By the way, Isabel, do you have a boyfrid?" asked David who was still looking at her.
He wasn't sure where the idea came from to ask that, but one thing that was clear was that he had the confidce to ask about this.
In high school, he was sure there was no way he would be as bold as he was now.
Asked about it, Isabel instantly shifted her gaze from the book she was reading to David.
A hint of surprise crossed her face.
After that, she shook her head.
"No, I've never be in a relationship," she said.
"This is surprising considering how popular you've be," David replied because it was indeed surprising information.
In high school at that time, almost all the popular guys had said they liked her, and David couldn't believe of them had confessed their feelings for her. Maybe they all did.
"I wanted to focus on my studies in high school, so I decided not to date," Isabel replied, explaining calmly.
"What about now?" asked David in response.
He found the interactions with her quite joyable, perhaps because he looked up to her so highly in high school yet on the other hand he had no chance of getting close to her.
Of course, David was a bit pessimistic as Isabel's college life was probably much busier than her high school life.
However, her answer really surprised him.
"Maybe I'll start trying. At this age, sometimes it's a little difficult if we don't have a partner."
