MY SUGAR MUMMY IS A BEAUTIFUL VAMPIRE

Chapter 298: A hole in the plot?

Relief flooded through Reggie and his brothers as they recognized the familiar figure. "Doctor Martina!" they exclaimed in unison, their voices barely above a whisper.

Without wasting a moment, Doctor Martina gestured for them to follow her, her hurried pace indicating a sense of urgency. As they fell into step behind her, Reggie couldn't help but feel a sense of gratitude towards Rose for arranging their encounter with someone who could aid them in their mission.

"In here," Doctor Martina whispered, gesturing towards a door at the end of the hallway. "The court where the baby is being kept is just through here."

Reggie nodded, a sense of urgency coursing through him as they followed her lead. "Thank you, Doctor Martina. We appreciate your help more than you know."

The doctor offered them a small smile before turning the knob and pushing the door open, revealing a dimly lit chamber beyond.

As the door creaked open, revealing the dimly lit chamber, all three knights felt a chill run down their spines. Their faces turned paler than ice as they beheld the tall, imposing figure standing inside, illuminated by the flickering candlelight.

"Damien," Reggie muttered under his breath, his voice barely above a whisper.

Damien's smile widened as he clasped his hands together, the sound of his fingers intertwining cutting through the silence like a blade. "I must admit, I wasn't expecting to see you here," he continued, his tone dripping with mock sincerity. "But then again, I suppose I should have known better than to underestimate your... resourcefulness."

Damien's gaze swept over the knights, his eyes lingering on each of them with a calculating intensity. "If I hadn't been just a little unnerved by your unusual calmness the day you visited, seeing your master in the state she was and how you all took the news," he mused, "perhaps I would have been fooled by your little charade. But alas, I'm afraid I'm not so easily deceived."

A cold smile played across his lips as he leaned forward, his dark eyes glittering with amusement. "You see, I know exactly who you three are, what you're capable of. Have you forgotten you once served Rose who was under my care? I've watched you three too long to know when there's a ploy on going," he said softly, each word dripping with contempt. "And I must say, I find your audacity... refreshing."

Reggie clenched his fists, his jaw tightening with barely contained rage. They had walked right into Damien's trap, and now they were at his mercy.

The dim light in the chamber flickered ominously as Damien's gaze swept over the knights, his eyes dark pools of malice. "Ah, Rose's valiant knights," he mused, his voice dripping with mockery. "So powerful, yet so blind to your own weaknesses."

He took a step closer, his movements fluid and predatory. "You see, gentlemen," he continued, his voice low and menacing, "the downfall of many great men throughout history has been their inability to recognize the weaknesses within their own ranks."

His eyes lingered on Dr. Martina, a sly smirk playing at the corners of his lips. "Surrounding oneself with weakness," he said, his voice a sinister whisper, "is a fatal flaw. And one that, I'm afraid, you knights seem to have fallen victim to."

Damien's gaze shifted towards Doctor Martina, who stood beside the knights, her expression vacant. "Ah, Doctor Martina," he purred, his eyes glowing with a malevolent gleam. "You've done a good job leading my unsuspecting guests into my welcoming embrace."

A sharp pain shot through Martina's head, causing her to wince and rub her temple. Reggie's suspicions were confirmed – Damien had mind-controlled her into leading them into this trap.

Damien's eyes ignited with an ominous glow, casting an eerie luminescence across the room, Doctor Martina's response was involuntary, a drool slipping from the corner of her mouth.

Reggie couldn't help but feel a wave of revulsion wash over him at the overwhelming aura Damien emanated. It was a palpable force, suffocating in its intensity, especially for vampires of their caliber. Martina, who had never sought physical strength, appeared particularly vulnerable in its presence.

Reggie glanced at his companions, their unease mirrored in their expressions as Damien addressed Martina with a tone laced with malice. "Ah, Doctor Martina," Damien's voice dripped with mockery, "you've served your purpose well. But I'm curious to test your limits."

With a deliberate pause, Damien's gaze shifted to his own fingers, as if contemplating his next move. "You know, vampires are known to be almost invulnerable to any and most things...well.. almost," he remarked, his tone laced with sinister intent.

"But I'm intrigued to see just how resilient you truly are. As a doctor, I assume you possess impressive lung capacity, correct?" Damien said, flashing a quick grin.

He took a deep sigh, nonchalantly dusting off his garment. The silence that followed hung heavy in the air, thick with tension. But this was only one sided as Damien didn't even seem bothered by the three Knight's presence. Indubitably, it was clear he didn't see them as any threat whatsoever.

Damien's eyes lit again as he looked at Martina, "I have a task for you," he continued, his voice low and menacing.

"See my middle finger?" Damien asked, pointing it out so it could be seen.

"It appears vacant, doesn't it? Well, the thing is..silly me, I lost my ring earlier while taking a swim. It must have fallen to the bottom of the pool. Could you be an absolute darling and take a walk to the outdoor pool and search for my missing ring for me? Take your time and enjoy the swim," Damien said with an expressionless face.

Without hesitation, Martina turned and left the room, her movements mechanical and devoid of life as she disappeared into the darkness . The knights exchanged wary glances, a silent understanding passing between them as they braced themselves for what would come next. As much as they would love to help Martina now, they had bigger problems on their hands.

Damien's attention shifted to Reggie and his companions, his gaze piercing and calculating. "Fear," he declared, his voice resonating with chilling finality. "I smell fear!"
