Chapter 90: Reol'ran's Experience (II)
Reol'ran was frozen and almost destroyed in both body and soul by the river's oppressive might as it began to crush her, but some sort of remnant power in the Mirror Shard surrounded her. She instinctively squeezed it all out, and the River ended up freezing her body entirely rather than murdering her straight out.
She survived.
And since it was in her own Destiny to be in the Hunter World when Mark appeared there, her icy form floated in the river and in a wild and coincidental wormhole incident, got teleported through space to appear in a random, abandoned Laboratory.
All Heaven Soul Race members had some unique perks. One of the perk was that they had a natural dungeon around them that would keep away the burning influence of the World Wills of different worlds, so, the Hunter World's WIll could do nothing to her.
But on a a random day, a gate opened inside the Laboratory and demons poured in and turned the Lab into an actual Dungeon of sort. Expecting that there would be a Dungeon Demon inside that he could tame into becoming his pet, Mark walked in.
There, she watched everything happening in the outside world with a sort of detached… fear. She could see some things, like Mark due to her connection with him which she had been tempering before she was frozen. And she could also see her surroundings sometimes.
Most of the time, it was a dark void of fearr and no knowledge of what awaited her in the future. And even though she had come face-to-face with her fated one, she couldn't even interact with him as she had fantasized a million times.
Was this her punishment?
Using some of the scant amount of Mindpower remaining in her body while keeping the rest for a dry day, she tried to use one of her abilities. It had never crossed her mind that it would ever be this helpful.
Detached Will.
A wisp of her consciousness travelled through the Red Karmic Thread linking her and entered Mark's Soul Space. It hid deep inside him—it could even use his senses now.
And she opened her eyes.
Straining her body, she released her words: "Save me. You. You need me."
You need me. You need to learn what is in the mirror shard.
Cautious as ever, Mark tried to break the ice and when he failed, he left her like she was never important to begin with. Her past hatred flared up but she calmed it down—it was not really hatred, it was a lot of frustration. She knew that.
She watched Mark's life from then on in 4k.
If she had her body intact, she would probably have broken the necks of both Dona and Yuri a hundred times to satiate the anger in her. She had watched what Mark did with them on a near-daily basis and day by day, she just watched impassively.
So this is true hatred, she had thought.
Indeed, Dona and Yuri are such… thieves. Homewrecks.
She wished she could still swing her blade.
It must be as sharp as ever even though it had been frozen once.
She calmed down after a while but she could no longer bear to watch his life every day. It was too hurtful for her warrior spirit—she had never believed him to do this and it did hurt. But as she watched his fighting style and his usual way of going about things, she couldn't help but feel proud.
He was just a newbie but he was learning and getting up fast on track. With a bit more actual training, he would become really good. He was an uncut gem.
Moreover, she had never seen an intelligent Demon that was below Tier 3. So, maybe, having intelligence this soon might give him some kind of advantage too.
And the ability in my hand that I never use—Clown's Circus—isn't that really good for him?
If Mark used it well, he should be able to Evolve from Tier 1 to Tier 2, too. Of course, if he knew that was her intent and there was a hint about how to Evolve hidden in the ability, he could not use that opportunity to evolve anymore. He had to find that out himself without her help.
Only then would he be able to use the sudden inspiration.
I have to find a way to gift him that.
Her plan from then on had been to watch him for a while longer but one day, finally, she couldn't hold it in when she finally saw the sky gaining a golden tint.
Mark was fighting Seo Jin Hu and if that was the case, Hanmo the Kill Slave must have been massacring demons to summon the angels.
Reol'ran had seen it once.
When the skies turned golden enough, the angels descend. When the angels descend, no demon in the land ever goes back into the Demon World alive.
She couldn't watch it happen when Mark was here.
Finally, she interacted with Mark for the first time. For killing Seo Jin Hu, she offered him her ability. And then, she met him in the river of time.
He was… too cautious of her.
And having shown him the truth about her already, she just wanted to tell him about the mirror shard before anything. That was a deadly news and the earlier he got it, the better. If she delayed it due to his caution, she would regret it later.
So, to get on track quick, she just told him her True Name.
And when she saw a nice chance to bring it up, she brought up the shard.
"Talking about it might be dangerous, but I will tell you." She made her voice sink into his mind. "It is because of the Mirror within your Soul Space that I had to find you now more than ever. I found a shard of it and that made me understand things about you that you need to be aware of yourself."
"What things?" Mark frowned.
"You will understand it after I give the shard back to you."
"You are inside the ice, how are you to give anything?" he asked.
He seemed rather aggressive towards her. He somehow seemed to be.
Did he dislike her? She wondered.
But that was fine, for now, her goal was just to tell him about the shard.
"You don't have to worry about the ice," she said. "I have an... idea."
