Chapter 367: Bloodlines and bullying
"Are you sure your room was locked? Cause the formations on it weren't triggered or broken?"
"I'm sure."
"Then did you give someone the key, or permission to enter?"
"No."
"Was anything stolen from your room?"
"No."
"Can you identify your opponent?"
"No."
"Any idea what he was after?"
"No."
"Was he here to kill you then?"
"I don't know."
Standing in front of the people from the law and punishment hall, hearing their questions, Quinlan kept telling them answers and getting annoyed by their constant chatter and presence in his room.
After the masked man appeared, they fought for a minute before the security personnel took notice of noise and came to check.
Since his mentor Professor Caelum, whom this room previously belonged to, was a weeb and loner, who preferred silence and being away from everyone, his room wasn't with other staff and their buildings, but at a separate cabin away from dorms. Thus he didn't have any 'neighbors' so to speak or help with the intruder.
Thus the masked man came and left, and no one noticed him.
"Well, it seems we have no clue then. Inform us if you can remember anything else, or find something strange, we'll send a runemaster to renew the locks and patterns."
Saying this the head of guard teams turned around and left, his followers who recorded the confession and crime scene, also left one by one behind him..
When everyone was gone, and the door was locked, Quinlan finally threw away his facade of calm and screamed in anger.
"Arghhhhh" He shouted as he kicked the table, causing everything on it to clatter and fall down.
His rage of anger was about to continue when he moved his hand to throw a vase, but stopped after feeling the sharp pain coming from his shoulder.
"Which bastard was it?" He cursed as he took off his jacket and stared at his bleeding shoulder.
The shadow magician, though similar in rank, was superior in skills and experience, thus managing to catch him off guard and landing a critical hit.
If not for those guards, Quinlan was sure the masked man could kill him too.
"Did that bastard send this guy?" He thought, remembering about his conversation with Rio. "But it's the academy, he can't do something like this."
"Then who was it? That man was clearly after the diary."
Does someone else knows about that too?
"Fuck…"
…
Different from how our pedo professor was having his day, Rio was leisurely chilling and sipping on some cold drinks.
"I knew I could count on you." Rio said with a smile, as the same masked man who fought Quinlan, appeared in front of him.
"I was this close to getting caught." The man said, removing his mask and sitting on the sofa heavily.
Rio looked at the man, as he threw his cap away and started fixing his hair, tying them in a single braid again. He was Umbra, or Elvis Clark, the warden of boy's dorms called Mirage Manor.
Instead of answering or worrying about him, Rio just asked his questions.
"How bad did you hurt him?"
"A little cut on his shoulder, nothing big."
"And no proof?"
"None."
"Good, here, your price." Rio said while throwing him a skill scroll.
Elvis caught and threw it into his storage ring without looking. Not doubting that he would try to cheat him after this event.
"Well, since it's done, I'll take my leave." Rio said and stood up to leave the office.
"You still haven't told me what was in that book he held, or how you managed to bypass the security locks on his door?" Elvis asked, but Rio just smiled and left without answering.
"Knowing too much can be harmful, shadow slayer. Better be calm, lest you call for chaos."
Leaving behind these words, Rio disappeared from his view as the door closed behind him. Making Elvis doubt about what he meant or what his goal was. So he started to analyze everything that happened ever since Rio returned.
He was after all a spy and double agent by habit, his whole survival depended solely on making the right bet and choosing the right partner.
. ..
While Rio was busy planning details and laying the layout to kill the villain professor, Leon on the other hand was having his adventures too.
Damon Cryptorn, the favorite target for bullying in their class, the one whom Rio refused to save even after Nyx's suggestions, was getting beaten in a corner by Lincoln and Edward.
The sight had been too frequent and famous, that everyone else just simply chose to ignore it. Whatever righteousness people had left and wanted to help, was also suppressed after the freshers party.
Since now these arrogant nobles had the backing of Supremacy club members and senior students.
As any fantasy world and academy plotlines in online novels go, this one also had a group of villains which believed in nobility being superior, and commoners being trash and their slaves, used only to serve and please them.
The group had been present for forever, and their acts of bullying and crimes going back several decades or even more.
A few staff members also had this personality and were guarding this club from shadows, so despite all the complaints and challenges, it had never truly been rooted out.
Hell after Alfred became the vice president of student Council he had been leading this group of racist fuckers from the back, promoting their hate crimes even more.
To him the lives of commoners and weak chickens didn't even matter, he just wanted to win the favors of as many noble and elite houses as he possibly could during his academy time. Thus the club kept flourishing under his reign.
Before two years, it was just a name uttered behind close doors of academy walls, but now with a royal prince leading them, the Supremacy group had even formed an open activity club and garnered many many followers.
Obviously to keep his image safe and secure, Alfred never supported it openly, but every core member and staff knew who their leader was.
Anyway back to Damon, the dude was bullied by Lincoln and Edward for a month, before the staff finally accepted his request to change rooms and he moved out. For a day or two, he thought now he'll be free from the constant insults and bullying, but it only got worse.
Without him to vent his anger on every minute of the day, Lincoln felt like he had lost his favorite toy, so since then he had upped his game and cruelty, so he doesn't miss him.
As they say if I can't beat you 24 hours a day, I'll just beat you so much in 1 hour that you cry for the rest of 23.
"We haven't seen you for a few days, and you've grown wings, have you?" Lincoln said, grabbing Damon's dark hair and slapping his cheeks.
"Where's our lunch? Where's the usual salute and the shoe licking?"
"You think by shutting yourself in the room, hiding below the bed, you'll be safe, will you?"
"Where you gonna hide now?"
"The only place safe might be your mom's pussy, you might as well crawl back under her legs, hahahhaha"
"How's that safe, when she's literally spreading her legs at every pub. Ahhaha"
One by one the group of minions surrounded him and kept making fun of him and taunting him to get angry. Just so beating him can be even more fun.
"Come, crawl over here and lick my shoes. They've lost their shine a little I think." Lincoln said before kicking Damon down and placing his shoe on his shoulder..
The pitiful soul of the depressed teenager cried and begged for mercy, but gagged as his words got interrupted when the leather shoe got stuffed into his open mouth.
"No, no, no, if you dare bite on it, and leave a mark of your dirty teeth on them, I'mma chop your body in pieces and sell you outside to buy a new pair." Lincoln said before shoving his feet further, laughing as the idiot rolled his eyes and started crying and spitting like a brainless retard.
"Now be a good dog and lick em clean." He said before pulling his shoe and placing it on Damon's shoulder again, not before wiping all that saliva on his face off course.
Damon took a glance around the empty classroom and a few students, who hurriedly looked away, pretending like they saw nothing, and wiped his tears. He was about to bow his head and do their bidding once more, when a voice broke the evil laughter and smirking villain's constant chatter.
"Stop…"
Leon finally made his entry. And looking at his fuming face, one could tell this time he meant business.
