Chapter 41 Offer
As the sun set, tranquility embraced the night, devoid of any disturbances. On that particular day, following an exchange of words, the brothers engaged in a conversation.
After pestering their father, they finally got a night shift to make sure that everyone was safe. Even Sarah took one of them but Lucas wasn't done.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Since he leveled up, it was like the sleep he should usually be taking in order to be refreshed the other day had become lesser than before. He didn't sleep that night till John's turn came to make sure from time to time that the brothers and Sarah didn't sleep between their shifts.
To Lucas's surprise, Barney and Sean both kept awake throughout their shifts and so did Sarah. Lucas felt like things would change pretty soon and the group would get better coordination.
The next day, everyone woke up early. Lucas had some bags under his eyes but it was till manageable.
'I almost took an all-nighter but it's not like before when I played games all night and messed up my sleep for many days ahead. These levelups are really doing wonders.' Lucas thought, impressed with the things that had been going on around him.
"Would you look at that... even Sean is training his skills," John said.
Sean was near Barney inside the defenses at the corner. Barney was making the spear revolve around him at a fast pace while Sean kept giving him buffs from time to time.
His eyes kept darting toward John who had a grin on his face as if he was happy with how much things had changed with only a night.
"That reminds me, Let me call my old man," Lucas said and made a call again with the system. The same 'TRII' sounds started resounding in his mind but his father didn't pick up the call.
But Lucas wasn't thinking of any negatives as at the side of his father's name, the number had changed to 6 meaning his father had leveled up since a day ago.
Lucas felt proud that his mother was in good hands and they would not be in any trouble.
"He didn't pick up, and I can't talk with my mother cause of the cooldown. Uncle John, I can't sit like this, what do we do today?"
"Hm... everything that the shelter needed has been done aside from the mana cores but I have a good feeling today. Why don't we go and look for those chests and dungeons?"
Lucas thought about it, their best action would be to look for the mana cores. Lucas didn't want to fight the rapacious plants for a while as they needed a functional group to kill it.
"Good idea and let's also find a water source when we are out," Lucas said awkwardly.
All these days, the bathroom condition had been really bad. They didn't have anything that could help with these things. And the only option was a hole they made just at the side of the shelter.
They all hadn't bathed for 10 days and they reeked. Their hairs were very messed up and they couldn't do anything about it. The dense liquid from the two rapacious plants couldn't even wipe their butts properly.
"I am so dumb, can't believe I placed the shelter down without any investigation of the area," Lucas grumbled while eating the dry rimmerroot that felt bad in the mouth. Now that they were eating properly. The drive to eat better was high but they had no supplies of any kind.
"Don't beat yourself about it. This area is safe enough for all of us, there is no point in grumbling. We will find something soon, don't worry." John said and went toward the tree near them. The tree had various marks on it, to be exact, they were slashes.
John was practicing his shooting, his attacks had become very fast and deadly. Even the winds he could manipulate had increased in volume.
While he was practicing, Lucas went to see the requirements of the shelter's upgrade. There were many ticks near every material aside from the mana cores. Even the defense upgrade was very easy.
He finally saw that the cooldown was over and called his mother whose level had increased yet again by one. She was the same as Lucas.
-"Lucas? Are you okay, my son? I am sorry I wasn't able to pick up the call before."-
A concerned voice came from the side.
"Don't worry, Mom. As long as you are okay, it doesn't matter. So, can you talk with me for a while?"
-"I would love to Lucas but all these bodies- no, the food is to be managed. You know how your father is, he does all the work extensively."-
"Figures"
Lucas and his mother talked for a whole 10 minutes and he could tell that his mother was being as discreet as possible.
According to her, they were living with a bunch of people, and Lucas got to know yet again that making living arrangements was very tough and he was the lucky one.
His mother's skill name was 'Precise Aim'. It helped her with very good aim while she used a bow and arrow made by his father for her.
His father's skill was 'Knight's Aura', something that helped him coat his hands or even full body in a reddish aura that according to his mother looked creepy.
His father had a fallout with some weird creatures that walked on four feet and had a big bodies like a cow. But they were aggressive.
His father for unknown reasons, killed every single of these creatures on his own and now they were having a hard time storing all of it.
-"Hey, I just thought, since we have an abundance of food right now, how about I share some with you using the trading option? I remember using it once before with your sister. I only got to use it one time with your sister."-
There was a small option below her name that started to blink. An old measuring device's image was made on the option and it kept blinking.
